Financial Assistance
Financial Assistance for Recreation & Culture Programs
The City of Revelstoke Parks, Recreation & Culture Department believes that every child should have the opportunity to enjoy and play sports. Research shows that participation in recreation improves health, life skills, teamwork, socialization and goal setting in children and youth. We want to make sure you know about the opportunities available to ensure all children have access to recreation and cultural activities.
COR Recreation Passes
The City of Revelstoke through Council support ,offers free annual recreation passes and 50% subsidy on certain recreation programs to low income residents. Look for the City of Revelstoke logo beside programs in the Leisure Guide that qualify for a subsidy. Please contact Community Connections to determine your eligibility requirements by calling 250-837-2920 or email info@community-connections.ca.
Revelstoke’s Youth Access Fund (YA Fund) This fund was established to ensure all youth have equal opportunity to participate in sports, recreation, arts and culture programs, events and activities. The YA fund was designed to help remove financial barriers, (including registration fees, equipment, transportation and other costs associated with participation), for youth from low income and modest families to participate in activities that they would otherwise not be able to. For more information see page 7.
Kid sport BC The KidSport concept was hatched in 1993 by board and staff at Sport BC as a way to help address the challenges faced by many families when registering their children in organized sport. Their mission is to remove financial barriers that prevent children from playing organized sports! Check out online for more information and how to apply. http://www.kidsportcanada.ca/british-columbia/apply-for-assistance/ or Call 604-333-3434
Jump Start Jumpstart gives kids a sporting chance. Participating in sport not only helps the physical and social wellbeing, but helps build self esteem. By helping kids get into the game, we are equipping them with determination. This confidence goes beyond practices and games. No kid should be left on the side lines but in Canada 1 in 3 families cannot afford to enroll their kids in organized sports. Jumpstart is here to help. Families requiring assistance need to fill out the application before the fees are due, as money goes directly to the organization. Applications can be submitted from January 1—November 1. Check out online for application forms and more information or call 1-844-YES-PLAY. http://jumpstart.canadiantire.ca/en/what-we-do/want-to-apply

Wednesday Yin: Often called ‘Joint Yoga’, Yin involves longer held stretches targeting the deeper connective tissues in our joints - primarily the hips and spine. As we age our fascia tightens and restricts our range of motion and joint mobility. Yin yoga benefits a wide range of students - those wanting to increase flexibility, facilitate healing from injuries, athletes who need a deep stretch to balance muscle strength, and those seeking tools to manage stress and calm the mind. It’s the other half you may have been missing.
Friday Hatha Foundations: Inspired by traditional Hatha Yoga, Friday classes will introduce and refine breath awareness, proper alignment for foundational postures, and linking breath with movement. This gentle class will move at a slow pace with clear, detailed instruction. Modifications will be offered to accommodate individual variances so that all participants can safely experience the benefits this practice has to offer. Join this class to build strength & flexibility, improve concentration & co-ordination, and balance body & mind.
Additional Yoga options: As you progress in your practice and would like alternate class choices, we encourage you to visit the two private studios in Revelstoke. We believe in supporting our community businesses and are committed to complimenting their services, or meeting a need that may not currently exist. These studios can be located at:
