Police Report Shooters sought Sept. 15: At approximately 8:30 p.m. police responded to a report of a group of young teens who were shooting a .22 calibre rifle at highway road signs near St Mary’s Springs Highway 16. The individuals fled the scene in a mid size SUV or a pickup which had a canopy on the vehicle. It travelled north but patrols were unable to locate it, Masset detachment also made patrols however the vehicle was not found. If anyone has any information on this event please contact the RCMP (250)559-4421 or Crimestoppers.

High behind the wheel Sept. 16: Police observed an unlicenced vehicle travelling south on highway 16 near the Kai Center. Police pulled the vehicle over and found the driver had consumed marihuana. The vehicle was searched and paraphernalia and roaches were located. The driver of the vehicle was taken back to his residence, no criminal charges forwarded in this instance

Cheque fraud mystery peters out

By Stacey Marple Haida Gwaii Observer Port Clements CAO Kim Mushinski was pleased to report that there has been no more fraudulent cheques reported to the village office.

On June 23 the village received a phone call from a woman who was inquiring about the validity of a cheque she had received, apparently from the municipal office. The Village confirmed it was not one of their cheques. Nonetheless, all the banking information on the cheque, including a signature by Port Clements Mayor Ian Gould, was correct. The next day the village received another call from someone who was able to scan and send the village a copy of the cheque, along with a Kijiji ad they has responded to that resulted on this cheque being sent. It’s unclear what the nature of the ad was. The RCMP and Credit union were advised of the situation.

The Village received several calls throughout the week from individuals and Banks that have been receiving the cheques. Both of the Village’s banks are aware of the issue and have taken security measures to ensure these cheques do not actually get processed.

No financial loss has come to the Village as a result, just inconvenience. .

That is the great thing about technology and media, that it allows you to do work remotely.”

Internet service on Haida Gwaii has been Mr. Shannon’s biggest barrier. But he is confident the days of inferior service are numbered.

“Once we hurdle that, really, the sky’s the limit. I see Haida Gwaii being the media and technology hub of Northern B.C.” This is why Mr. Shannon won the Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

Gagne for nominating him. She has one herself, from 2013. She was also named Outstanding Female Aboriginal Entrepreneur of the Year in 2011.

support system,” Mr. Shannon said.

“Having people like Erica has been absolutely pivotal of getting any amount of success like this, I think that this is what we would like to do for other people.”

By all indications, the future of Mr. Shannon’s business is bright.

“If you look at a year ago to now, it’s night and day, we have basically launched two businesses and now won an award, and it is still growing exponentially.”

Ms. Caltworthy and Mr. Shannon will be attending the Gala Dinner for the award in Vancouver next month, but not before a lengthy filming trip around the northwest to help promote their business.

“This [award] is putting what we do, all our services, in front of the top business leaders in B.C., which can’t do anything but help,” Mr. Shannon said.

The whales are found all around the world, but are seldom seen in B.C. waters as they spend most of their time far from shore.

So far it doesn’t appear the beaked whale’s death is linked to about 30 other known whale deaths in B.C. and Alaska since May. In those cases of 11 fin whales, 18 humpbacks (four in B.C)., one grey and four unidentified cetaceans are believed to have died from toxic algae, caused by what scientists have nicknamed the “Blob,” a 1,600-kilometre stretch of unusually warm water.

A UBC professor said the algae contains a neurotoxin and is contaminating krill and sardines in large numbers, which the whales then eat and can die essentially of food poisoning.

The Haida Heritage Centre made learning a little more fun last week. As of Saturday administrators began posting their word of the week feature not just in print, but video now as well.

The light-hearted addition found on Facebook, features staff and visitors delivering

the correct pronunciation of each week’s selected word.

If the first instalment is any indication, they’ll continue to do so with fun and and personality.

The first video featured the Haida word for dragonfly: mama ts’iik’ay.

For novice learners

and non-Haida alike, the approach helps lodge the word firmly in the mind, thanks to the repetition of multiple speakers with their own personal inflections.

There will not be any highway closures, planned power outages, or other simulated effects of the hypothetical earthquake.

The Shakeout BC Organization Committee is encouraging individuals and organizations to register at www.shakeoutbc.ca to be counted.

The drill was originally scheduled for January 29 of each year to mark the 311th anniversary of the last magnitude-9 earthquake in B.C. This date conflicted with Secondary Schools provincial exams and now has been changed to the third Thursday of each October.

Precisely at 10:15 a.m. on Oct. 15 several schools and organizations on Haida Gwaii will be participating in the 2015 Great BC Shakeout, a drill designed by the BC Earthquake Alliance Society to prepare British Columbians for a major seismic event.

The society hopes to conduct the drill every year, modelled on the success of the Great California Shakeout.

The drill asks people to “drop, cover and hold on” for up to two minutes in response to a simulated earthquake event.

The largest earthquake in Canada occurred on Haida Gwaii in 1949, registering at a magnitude 8.1. Canada’s second largest earthquake was also on Haida Gwaii on Oct. 27, 2012, registering at magnitude 7.8.

Most islanders have experienced an earthquake and this drill is hoped to enhance public awareness of earthquake hazards and encourage personal preparedness.

Queen Charlotte Secondary School and other island schools will be holding their own Great BC Shakeout on Oct. 15. All students and staff will practise the age old “Drop, Cover and Hold on” drill while pretending to have an earthquake.

Organizers encourage people wherever they may be at 10:15 a.m. to participate in the drill, just as if a major earthquake is occurring at that very moment, and stay in the position for at least 60 seconds.

But it’s probably a good idea to let people know what you’re doing ahead of time.

Mini tsunami laps Islands

By Stacey Marple Haida Gwaii Observer The 8.3 magnitude earthquake that rocked Chile Sept.16, killing at least 10 people and flooding coastal towns, was not felt in Haida Gwaii but still had an effect.

Approximately 16 hours after the earthquake a six centimetre wave reached the northern parts of Haida Gwaii. The Department of Fisheries and Oceans reported that three small waves were detected as a result of the earthquake in Chile.

B.C. has three tsunami recording sites on the coast of B.C. that is connected to the Alaska Tsunami Warning Centre that records in one minute intervals. The wave that reached Langara Island or otherwise know as Henslung Cove was just six centimetres.

Richard Thomson an ocean researcher for the DFO told the Observer “The tsunami waves observed at Haida Gwaii formed in the ocean off the coast of Chile and came directly from Chile.”

The largest wave measured at only 10 centimetres at Winter Harbour on Vancouver island.

The wave took about 16 hours to travel to the B.C. Coast and moved nearly as fast as a commercial jetliner.

The pacific coast of Chile was all put on tsunami warning including Hawaii and parts of the California coast.

Haida Gwaii and other B.C. coastal communities did not issue tsunami warnings.

Tsunami’s can be dangerous for man hours after arrival and the initial wave is not necessarily the largest wave. The National Tsunami Warning Center reported a large tsunami wave along the Chilean coast, near the epicenter. In Coquibo, Chile, a wave was measured at more than 15 feet.

Chile sits on an arc of volcanoes and a fault line circling the Pacific Ocean known as the “Ring of Fire”.

The area experiences frequent earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. Since 1973, Chile has had more than a dozen earthquakes of magnitude 7.0 and above.

Wilson Brown acclaimed school trustee for Old Massett

The School Board for SD50 met for the first time in the new school year last week in Sandspit.

Duncan White, chief election officer for the school district, led the meeting off by presenting the board with a new trustee for Old Massett, Wilson Brown.

The original call for candidates resulted in no valid nominations being received by the 4 p.m. deadline on August 14.

Despite several advertisement being placed in the Observer and a courtesy advertisement in the

Old Massett Village newsletter and on the School District 50 website.

Mr. White was forced to extend the nomination process for another three days. As a result, one nomination was received by the final deadline of August 17, there was no need for an actual election and Mr. Brown was elected by acclamation.

Travel Schedule The School board has approved the Trustee travel schedule for the 2015-16 school year. Trustees will attend the Northwest Branch meeting in September and a Liaison Meeting with Ministry and B.C. Public Schools Employers’

Association (BCPSEA) Labour and BCSTA Provincial Council in October.

There will be a BC school Trustees’ Association (BCSTA) Academy in November with the new year bringing the BCPSEA AGM in January.

The trustees will have a chance to take part in the BCSTA Provincial Council meeting in February.

The last of the scheduled meetings is planned to wrap up in April with the BCSTA’s Annual General meeting.

The date for the First Nations Education Steering Committee Conference had yet to be announced.

Sept. 23, 2010 A fin whale washed up on the Miller Creek beach, and people who helped visiting scientists had to burn their clothes. “The smell was atrocious,” said Matt Conley, a Q.C. based-fishery officer who was on the beach with the experts as they tried to determine the cause of the huge mammal’s death. The animal was a 50-foot, 35 to 40-tonne whale, and as fin whales are a species at risk, necropsies were performed.

More than just a business award, it’s entrepreneurism at its best We’re proud to feature this week’s frontpage story about the accomplishment of Patrick Shannon, winner of 2015’s Young Aboriginal Entrepreneur Award.

We congratulate Mr. Shannon not only for winning a BC Aboriginal Business Award, but for the category in which he won. According to Statistics Canada, approximately 68 percent of new jobs are created by small and medium-sized ventures. While big business tends to shed jobs, young, small firms run by entrepreneurs is where job growth is most evident. Being an entrepreneur requires a variety of skills: drive, persistence, passion, patience, and, of course, hard work. On Haida Gwaii, it’s not simply business that’s needed to revitalize the economy, but entrepreneurial thinking to drive it.

This is why his award for entrepreneurship is so notable. It’s a way of thinking, where you

don’t assume someone else is going to provide a solution for your needs. Where you look for and take a competitive advantage in terms of how you’re going to accomplish something. A lot of people interchange small business and entrepreneurship regularly. But the two concepts need to be separated. Small business is how many entrepreneurs start, but that doesn’t have to be the only destination. Entrepreneurial thinking as relevant from positions of government leadership, down to community planning and any aspect of society that requires solutions.

Mr. Shannon attracted the attention of the British Columbia Achievement Foundation for two principal projects. One was his media venture in web design, videography and photography—he not only laid the foundation for his own business, but looked forward to envision its growth. He knows,

Letters to the Editor The profound failure of our economic models

Dear Editor, The federal leaders’ debate on the economy focused on important issues — jobs, deficits, infrastructure spending, pipelines, climate change — but no one talked about a different vision for Canada’s economy. What if we challenged our leaders to answer the dilemma posed by American journalist Charles Bowden: Imagine the problem is that we cannot imagine a future where we possess less but are more? Not being able to even imagine an economy without continual growth is a profound failure.

A better economic vision would support the right of all Canadians to live in a healthy environment, with access to clean air and water and healthy food.

It would respect planetary boundaries and provide the moral imperative to decrease growing income disparities. Businesses would be required to pay for environmental damage they inflict, capital would be more widely distributed and ideas, such as employee shareholder programs with ethically invested stocks, would be the norm.

This alternative economy would connect people to family, friends and communities, focus on social capital investments over gross domestic product gains, and distribute wealth through taxes, social programs and minimum guaranteed incomes.

In Canada, we don’t question our emphasis on constant growth. Our economic system favours short-term profits at the expense of our long-term health and survival. Despite more than five decades of trying to fix our environmental challenges, forests are still threatened, deserts are spreading and climate change is creating more frequent and intense storms, floods, forest fires and droughts.

We’re also left with income inequality that threatens our democracy. Since the 1980s, the top

one per cent of Canadians has increasingly enjoyed the biggest share of income growth and the least pain during economic downturns. Since 2009, the top 10 per cent have seen half of all income growth.

The bottom 50 per cent of Canadians have not only seen declines in income growth, accounting for just three per cent of income gains, they’ve also been hardest hit during recessions.

A cornerstone of our current economy, consuming goods, may give us fleeting pleasure, but it isn’t making us happier. The Canadian Index of Wellbeing uncovered some troubling truths about the connection between the economy and well-being. When Canada’s economy was thriving, Canadians saw only modest improvements in their overall quality of life, but when the economy faltered our well-being took a disproportionate step backward. Despite this failure to imagine a better way, we may finally be seeing a change in course. The climate crisis is creating a global consciousness shift, with hundreds of thousands marching to demand change, and Pope Francis’s Encyclical warning that economic growth and technology can’t continue to trump all other concerns. Throughout Europe, North America and beyond, support is growing for confronting income and wealth inequality.

Imagine a Canadian election in which leaders gave us economic visions aimed at caring for people and the planet. It’s time we talked about a future when we can live with less and be happier.

I’ll be joining Peter Victor, one of Canada’s most respected ecological economists, to talk about these ideas at a public event for the Canadian Society for Ecological Economics conference in Vancouver on October 1. I hope to see some of you there.

ne of the unique features of the Gwaii Trust is our Youth Board, which we established in 2011 to give young people living on Haida Gwaii a bigger say about the programs that affect them, and to provide an opportunity for them to take on leadership roles. We also had an eye on the future, believing that giving local young people experience on a board increases the possibility they will end up serving as Gwaii Trust directors, or helping represent their communities in other ways.

Giving significant decision-making power to young people was a real experiment ­— one that has worked out surprisingly well. The Youth Board mirrors our regular board, with eight directors and eight alternates representing the communities of Haida Gwaii, all between the ages of 13 and 21. They meet throughout the year to make decisions on applications for youth grants, talk about issues facing young people on Haida Gwaii, and come up with new ideas. This year, they will award approximately $100,000 worth of grants.

One of our youth directors is 17-year-old Rebbecca Holte, who has been representing Skidegate for the past year. Rebbecca said it’s been a rewarding experience to learn about how the Trust operates and to get the word out among youth.

“I think it’s really awesome,” she said. “Who better to decide on youth projects than the youth?”

Taking part in discussions with the other youth directors, Rebbecca has learned how challenging it can be to make decisions as a group. The Gwaii Trust believes in making decisions by consensus, rather than a simple majority vote, and that value applies to the youth board as well. Rebbecca said the youth directors quickly found that while they all brought different views to the table, it helps to listen carefully to what everyone else is saying and allow time for a thorough discussion.

Along with the other directors, Rebbecca has been talking about the youth program and its potential, and took part in a presentation to the high school earlier this year. She is a regular volunteer at the Edge of the World Music Festival and has attended the past few Haida Gwaii Youth Assemblies. Her first assembly was a life-changing experience, she said.

“The first time I went to the Youth Assembly, I thought I was really quiet,” she said. “But they encouraged everyone to stand up and use their voice. I discovered I could do it.”

Les Wourms leads second weekend of Coho Derby Submitted by the Sandspit Rod and Gun Club The first weekend is in the book. It was a good one with good weather, fishing (catching), participation and a good turnout at the ‘Shack’. Forty five Coho were weighed in with some good weights.

Same old, same old? Not at this year’s Derby. Lots of new names mixed with some of the old, all genders and ages, with Islanders and non-Islanders being represented in the Top 10.

The leader in the first week was Al Hunt, who thought his fish wasn’t big enough. He and others were fishing from the rocks and probably were more productive then most of the other anglers. Sheri Scott, a non-Islander, caught her limit of four from the rocks (beginners luck) and caused quite a ruckus when she left her spot.

Coho were also caught from boats and the shore at Copper Bay and Shingle Bay. There were lots of Coho around and it looked like a good run with three weekends remaining to catch the Big One. The board is full, setting the standard to beat for the following week. There is a lot of competition in all categories and two new categories for this derby.

The Double Header is for the combined weight of two fish caught during the derby, not in the Top Ten. The Jack Diebold Memorial is for the combined weight of two fish caught by a parent and a child (15 years and younger) on the same day and not in the Top Ten. Top Ten for Week One 1. The shack was really busy with Ray K. and Elaine doing an awesome job of turning out

They sold out of hamburgers on Saturday and Sunday and if that is what you are wanting don’t wait too late.

The Sourdough Breakfast was as good as ever and a great way to start your Sunday activities. Volunteers are always welcome and any part of the day spent helping is really appreciated.

Week Two The Derby is half over with half to go. What an awesome start to the 62nd annual event: good weather, good fishing, good participation and great food coming out of the Shack.

It’s good to see new names on the board and some of the old ones are starting to show as well. All ages, genders, residents and visitors are well represented this year. It looks like the shore and rock based anglers are providing a lot of the Coho for weigh-in. The boat people are bringing their share as well but it shows that a boat isn’t necessary to be competitive. Overall a lot of board changes from day to day and it would appear that a lot more are likely to happen.

A cheechako is for six years and under (without a ticket) who weighs in the biggest fish.

The events of the weekend were pretty much as usual. However, one incident involved a boat that was discovered with only the bow out of the water in the middle of

Copper Bay. As it turned out it appeared to be a boat that was washed off the shore by the high tide. No one was involved and the Coast Guard and a local boater pulled the boat to the launch and returned it to the owner. Good out come and a good reminder to be careful and be prepared for the variation in the tides, weather and the local conditions.

The ‘Shack’ and Ray K were really busy and the volunteers were kept busy too. More volunteers are always needed and appreciated. The Sunday morning (8 to 11) sourdough breakfast continues to be a hit. Thanks to all the individuals and companies that donate supplies and prizes.

With two weekends to go in the Derby, now is the time to focus on getting the hook in the water, that is a barbless hook. The fine for fishing with a barbed hook is $150 as some unfortunate fishers found out on Saturday.

Stay safe and may your good luck be a wee bit smaller than mine.

Environmental bill of rights narrowly endorsed Over vocal objections from some representatives, local politicians have narrowly endorsed a call for an “environmental bill of rights” for B.C. at their annual convention.

Calling it “an idea whose time has come,” Richmond Coun.

Harold Steves sponsored the motion Wednesday at the Union of B.C. Municipalities convention in Vancouver. It calls for recognition of a right to “live in a healthy environment, including the right to clean air, clean water, clean food and vibrant ecosystems.”

Steves reminded delegates of a summer of smoke from forest fires and a drought that saw his Cache Creek farm run out of water. He noted the bill of rights has been supported by 36 municipalities around B.C., after a tour of local councils by the David Suzuki Foundation’s Blue Dot campaign.

The idea was quickly challenged.

“How is this resolution going to prevent forest fires and create clean air?” North Cowichan Coun. Al Siebring asked. “It’s not.”

Williams Lake Mayor Walt Cobb dismissed the bill of rights movement as “David Suzuki propaganda” backed by

urban people who don’t understand that mining and forestry provide the lumber, copper and other products that build their homes and communities.

Cobb said it already takes years of environmental review before resource extraction can be approved, “and if this passes, it will be another nail in the coffin of rural B.C.” Chilliwack Mayor Sharon Gaetz urged support for the bill of rights, arguing it would “raise our consciousness.” Victoria Mayor Lisa Helps quoted from a presentation to council by an 11-year-old boy and joined other delegates in calling for the resolution to support future generations.

C o q u i t l a m C o u n . Te r r y O’Neill listed a dozen provincial laws governing clean water, air pollution, public health and food safety, calling on the convention to focus on specific measures instead of asserting rights that are actually “a demand for others to do something for you.”

Nanaimo Regional District director Julian Fell agreed, saying four of the six rights proposed to his board are actually “entitlements.” He called for the UBCM to declare that water and air should be legally guaranteed to remain public assets.

But as of press time Ms. Musgrave was optimistic the humourous and story-laden volume may be on the shelves within this month.

The cook book, Ms. Musgrave’s first, is based on her 40 years of living on Haida Gwaii. It is a collection of recipies both annecdotal and actual from hers and other islanders’ kitchen.

“The book isn’t about recipes; it’s all about stories, to me, the writing is about stories.”

This is a first for the muchlauded writer of prose and poetry, and recipient of many awards: a cook book of 384 pages, with 350 photographs.

She chose what to write about by picking the local ingredients that follow the seasons. Meet the candidates for Skeena-Bulkley Valley In conjunction with the all-candidates debates on Haida Gwaii this week, the first ever, the Observer invited the five candidates to introduce themselves to Islands voters. Each candidate was given roughly 250 words to explain what they see as the key issues in the riding and on Haida Gwaii.

Brad Layton, Liberal Hello fellow citizens of the Skeena Bulkley Valley riding and residents of Haida Gwaii.

My name is Brad Layton and I am the Liberal candidate for the riding.

I have strong convictions that as a society we can have both economic development and strong environmental standards for projects in northwestern BC. I also have strong convictions that we need to benefit from these projects locally and not just contribute to provincial or federal coffers. For economic development and strong environmental policy in our country we must have change from the current government to one that will listen to the concerns and values of all peoples of Canada.

We will re-engage in a renewed, respectful and inclusive nationto-nation process with Indigenous Peoples to advance progress on the issues prioritized by First Nations, Metis and Inuit communities - Issues like housing, infrastructure, health and mental care, community safety and policing, child welfare, education. We will support the work of reconciliation and continue the necessary process of truth telling and healing, we will work with First Nations, Métis and Inuit Peoples to enact the recommendations of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, starting with the implementation of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

We will also provide substantial new funding to support the ability of Indigenous communities to promote, preserve and enhance Indigenous languages and cultures.

I look forward to my visit to Haida Gwaii and the first ever federal election debates to be held there.

Nathan Cullen, NDP Since 2004, I have had the honour of representing Haida Gwaii and Northwest BC in Parliament and across Canada.

I am committed to serving this beautiful region with integrity and passion and if re-elected, that will continue to be my approach.

On the north coast, our ferries are essential for keeping our communities connected, but Mr. Harper has failed to give them proper funding. I will work to increase the federal ferry subsidy for British Columbia to make sailings more regular and affordable for residents on Haida Gwaii.

Canada must tackle climate change, and the NDP has an ambitious plan to do it. I will also continue to be a strong voice for protecting our coast by fighting against dangerous projects like Enbridge Northern Gateway that threaten our home and our way of life.

I will also work to give communities the help and services they need. We will reverse Mr. Harper’s $36 billion cuts to healthcare, and hire more family doctors in our region.

We will ensure everyone can retire with dignity by strengthening supports for seniors and reversing the Conservatives’ mean-spirited decision to raise the age of retirement from 65 to 67. And we will begin a new era of relations with First Nations based on respect and meaningful dialogue.

On October 19, we have an historic opportunity to repair the damage Mr. Harper and the Conservatives have done to our country and our international reputation, and bring positive change to our region and our country. I hope you’ll be a part of it.

The most important issue for voters in the Northwest is the economy. I’m focused on creating jobs in our region.

The way to do that is by keeping everyone’s taxes low and encouraging investment in things that will allow for that job growth to happen, like responsible resource development.

The way to harm economic and job growth prospects on Haida Gwaii is by forcing massive tax increases on its people and businesses. The Liberals and NDP are proposing new CPP, EI and business taxes on all Canadians. They also want to force a national carbon tax on the provinces that will increase the cost of gas and groceries in the Northwest and do nothing to address climate change.

That is the exact opposite of what we should do right now given the economic instability across the globe.

If elected, I will continue to fight for measures that will grow the economy and create jobs in our region. I will not support job-killing tax increases that grow the size of government in Ottawa but harm the local economies of the communities in SkeenaBulkley Valley.

I hope to visit Haida Gwaii during this campaign however our campaign simply does not have the same financial war chest as that of Mr. Cullen, who is a celebrity across the country known for opposing energy projects.

By election day on October 19, I think the people of Skeena-Bulkley Valley will support me because I support our jobs, our families and our way of life.

Don graduated from Full Gospel Bible College in 1973. Since graduation, he has served as a pastor, gospel singer, recording artist, Bible teacher, evangelist, missionary and international humanitarian aid and development. He was ordained in 1981.

Don has also been a Christian human and civil rights activist working for the release of persecuted pastors and dissidents in the former communist nations since the late 1970s.

Don became increasingly active in the mid-1980s defending the pre-born and the traditional family, helping found and publish Life Gazette Newspaper.

He was nominated and ran for Surrey council in 1985 and 1986 with the Surrey Non-Partisan Association.

Don organized and led Rescue Canada in BC (also known as Operation Rescue) in the late 1980s and early 1990s, for which he was repeatedly jailed.

Eventually, this led in the mid1990s to defending our Section 2 Charter rights. He fought two battles in the courts over 15 years to see the Access to Abortion Services Act of BC (the ‘bubble zone’ law) struck down as unconstitutional. His application for leave to appeal to the Supreme Court of Canada rejected June 18, 2009. He was arrested and convicted again for passing out copies of the Act in a ‘bubble zone’.

Don and Gloria have also sheltered unwed mothers in crisis at their home. He also organized lobby efforts to Ottawa on behalf of preborn children.

Don is currently in the process of founding a new organization called Life & Liberty Network.

Some of my life finds me working at the Transition House in Masset, and educating myself about sexual assault. This is a U.S/White House sponsored campaign to fight sexual assault, and even President Obama is on the video. It has some famous actors in it, such as Zoe Saldana, and it is very clever: “It’s about consent; if you don’t get it, you don’t get it.”

It reminds us that sex without consent is rape. Simple and clear. There is also another one about the same topic and compares having tea to sexual consent. You may have wanted tea yesterday, but today you don’t want it, and that’s okay.
