With its decades long, and very successful, experience in bringing refugee families to Creston, Linda Price doesn’t want to see the efforts die. But more, and younger, volunteers are needed to sustain the Creston Refugee Committee, she said.

Price isn’t about to walk away from the organization and is willing to serve as chair for another year if it means bringing in another family. “I will continue if we get some more help,” she said. In fact, Price and her small team have already identified another Karin (an ethnic Burmese group) family from Burma, having success-

fully helped to assimilate two Karin families in recent years. “Our current family is moving to Toronto for more work opportunities, and one will attend university,” she said. “He has said he would love to return to Creston after he completes his studies if he could find suitable work.” Price, who logs countless hours

helping new families integrate with the community and learn English, says the experience with Burmese families has been very positive. “I would be really excited if a Karin family is available when we are ready,” she said. “They are very good and adaptable people.”
