he man facing 30 charges in connection with more than a dozen frauds in Chilliwack and Agassiz last year pleaded guilty to 22 counts in provincial court last Friday. Donald Robert Quinnell was arrested on Jan. 2 and faced numerous charges in connection w i t h d o o r- t o door confidence EB IRST scams that targeted senior citizens. First reported on In one alleged chilliwacktimes.com case reported to the Times, a man rang the doorbell of a Chilliwack woman’s home, pretended to be the son of a neighbour, said he needed a ride to the hospital and eventually scammed the woman out of $400. Many of the individuals allegedly fooled by Quinnell are reportedly embarrassed by the incidents. Crown counsel has issued a publication ban against reporting the victims’ names when the matter is disposed of in court. Quinnell remains in custody and is next due in court Dec. 3 for a pre-sentence report. A psychiatric and/or psychological report has also been ordered.
