The green answer to a brown lawn KEVIN PARNELL

Once something to be proud of and a hobby of sorts for many, the days of the green lawn appear to be something set in the past as the Central Okanagan struggles under a stage four drought in the summer of 2015.

And in Lake Country watering of lawns is now being limited to two days per week as per the district stage 2 water restrictions while residents are being asked to voluntarily reduce water consumption by 30 per cent.

So what does this mean for your green lawn?

Lake Country entrepreneur Mike Wagner may have the answer. Wagner is offering a lawn-painting service as part of the work his home and yard maintenance company offers. Using a plant-based die, Wagner can green up your lawn the new-fashioned way, giving brown,

dormant grass a nice fresh green colour.

“So many people spend a lot of money on landscaping their yards but now with the drought their lawns are dying and certain areas don’t look very good,” said Wagner, who began Lake Country Home and Yard this year after

he and his wife moved to the Okanagan last year.

“When you look at California this is a massive industry, not only for people’s yards but also for golf courses. There are no chemicals and its completely harmless to pets and plants. It just looks like bright beautiful grass.”

Coldstream politicians are supporting a proposed marina on the Oyama end of Kalamalka Lake, but with some reservations.

Coldstream council will tell the provincial government it doesn’t object to an application from Oyama’s Tween Lakes Resort for a 66-slip dock as long as it meets the resort’s own needs. However, it will also indicate that it doesn’t want increased slips accommodating more boats on Kalamalka and Wood lakes.

“We have concerns about increased motorized boat traffic on Kal Lake,” said Coun. Doug Dirk during a committee of the whole Aug. 4.

“The amount of boat traffic is quite a bit lower,” said Ed Thiessen, dock committee chairperson, adding the slips will only be used when resort owners are there.

“The new dock won’t affect how many boats come from Tween Lakes.

We just want an opportunity to store our boats safely.”

Beyond the proposed 66 dock slips, Tween Lakes has existing slips along the canal between

Kalamalka and Wood lakes.

Kalamalka Lake is a water source for Lake Country and Greater Vernon, but Thiessen says the Tween Lake’s project won’t impact water quality.

“We care about what happens to the lake,” he said.

“There are hundreds of boats that go through that canal that have nothing to do with us.”

Considerable debate occurred among council before motions were considered.

“There’s a little confusion as to whether we are seeing an expansion (of slips) or not.” said Coun.

There were also questions about the lake’s ultimate capacity for motorized boats given that other recreational users are also on the lake.

“There are paddleboards, canoes and kayaks,” said Coun. Gyula Kiss.

Councillors Glen Taylor and Pat Cochrane favoured the dock application.

“Tween Lakes is an existing development and I take them at their word that they’re not adding boats but trying to be more efficient,” said Cochrane.

“It’s not saying there’s more boats. It’s accommodating and fixing what they have,” added Taylor.

Council will also suggest to the provincial government that if the Tween Lakes’ application is approved, that there be a response kit for fuel spills, no renting of slips to non-owners and no winter moorage.

Level 4 drought declared: conserve water

Responding to continuing dry conditions, last week the government of B.C. announced a Level 4 drought rating for the Okanagan.

And it has taken the additional action of suspending angling on the Okanagan River (main-stem only) between Okanagan Lake and Osooyos Lake due to warming water temperatures.

This brings the Okanagan region to the same drought level classification as the South

Thompson, Similkameen, Kettle and Skagit areas, which were raised to Level 4 on July 27.

At Level 4, conditions are extremely dry. Further declines in stream, lake and aquifer levels could lead to water shortages and affect people, industry such as agriculture, wildlife and fish stocks.

All water users, including those who access groundwater, are urged to maximize their water conservation efforts.

The establishment of a Level 4 drought advisory, signals that regional water managers may take additional regulatory actions if they are deemed necessary. Any such actions will be site-specific depending on individual stream conditions.

Specific actions could include the temporary suspension of water licences or short-term water approvals in affected watersheds if necessary. Ministry water management staff will

continue to monitor conditions, work closely with First Nations, local governments, stakeholders, and provide updates as needed.

Rainfall over the weekend of July 26 resulted in a temporary rise in streamflows, particularly in the Okanagan and Kettle. However, most streams have returned to flows similar to or below conditions prior to the late July rain event.

Streamflows are at or below the average annual summer low flow due to

persistent below-average precipitation and warmer-than-normal temperatures in June and July. Many streams in these regions are flowing at conditions typical of late summer or early fall.

Smaller, ungauged tributary streams in the region are experiencing extreme low flow conditions and warm water temperatures.

Environment Canada forecasts from 10 to 20 mm of rainfall in the southern Interior region over the next 10 days and

that he thinks should be a growing industry.

He says it can help people enjoy their yard and also be significant when it comes time to sell a house.

“It’s a very different concept,” Wager admitted. “I know when we bought our house, if the yard was disgusting and dead, we probably would have looked elsewhere. It’s cosmetic.

It can last up to three or four months and I think it’s something people

will enjoy and not have to worry about the water restrictions.”

The District of Lake Country announced the move to stage two water restrictions at the end of July, only the third time ever the district has had to put in watering restrictions after doing so in 2003 and 2009.

Mike Mitchell, Lake Country’s utility superintendent, says it’s critical that everyone in the community does their part to conserve water.

“It is drastically important that all in the

community reduce their water consumption, as every drop we save this year will prevent us from starting with a lower reservoir level next spring,” said Mitchell. “Normally we start with our reservoirs at 80 per cent full and anticipate snow melt will fill it to 100 per cent.

Next spring we are predicting we will start with 60 per cent as a result of this year’s drought, so we are going to hope for a good snow melt year to make up what we need for next summer’s demand.”

Mitchell added he expects the current water restrictions to be sufficient this year, although the district could decide to limit watering to just once a week in stage three of its water conservation plan.

“We don’t anticipate moving to stage three this year,” he said. “Our current reservoir levels aren’t alarmingly low, but the district is being proactive in implementing restrictions to protect the resources so we have enough water for all users.”

As far as Wagner and his start-up company, he says utilizing lawn die to get that green back in the lawn is a way of the future.

“If we keep having these water restrictions, people will still want the yard to look nice. They spend a lot of money on their homes so this is a good alternative to pouring a bunch of water on it.”

An exemption to these restrictions may be granted to permit additional watering of new landscaping (placed within the current year).

A request for exemption must be submitted in writing to the director of engineering and operations with the District of Lake Country.

Set automatic sprinkler timers to water between midnight and 6 a.m.

Remember to turn off your system during rainy periods. Don’t set it and forget it.

Sorting out federal election issues T he first, and perhaps the only complete English-language debate in this long federal election campaign has helped define the issues, and the non-issues.

I’m not going to try to tell you who “won” or “came out swinging,” because this is not a sporting event.

If you’re paying attention in August, bless you, and you probably have a favourite already.

First, let’s deal with Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s diabolical scheme to extend the length of the formal election period.

This, according to national pundits, is an extension of his evil plot to attract more financial supporters than the other parties, and spend the money.

In other words, it’s a non-issue and any opponent who dwells on it looks like a whiner.

This is the first election in modern Canadian history to follow a

Tom Fletcher four-year schedule. National pundits spent months telling us Harper was going to use a loophole in his own election law to call a spring vote before the economy tanked.

Didn’t happen, and now the Conservatives are rightly under scrutiny about their economic management. Incumbent manipulation of election timing is over, and that’s good.

Scheduled elections by their nature create longer campaigns, as demonstrated in B.C. and the United States. So they should be conducted

under formal campaign rules, which limit the noise of public sector unions and other special interests.

Another non-issue is the non-existent deficit and recession that supposedly grips Canada.

On actual results, there is a slim surplus, and if—a big if—Saudi Arabia continues to depress world oil prices, there may be a modest deficit by next spring.

The Bank of Canada’s recent move to devalue the dollar has already produced a rebound in exports and tourism, which any government would appreciate. Have you tried to find parking at the mall lately?

Of particular interest to B.C. voters is the contest between NDP leader Thomas Mulcair and Green Party leader Elizabeth May. May used what may be her only national debate appearance to press Mulcair to oppose the TransMountain pipeline expansion project before

hearings are complete.

Mindful of Adrian Dix’s disastrous 2013 decision to do the same in B.C., Mulcair insisted he would wait for the federal review, even though he considers it to be inadequate.

This is, of course, all theatre. Based on their actions, the NDP, Green Party and Liberals are all opposed not just to oil pipelines but export gas pipelines as well.

Liberal leader Justin Trudeau wants to cancel capital cost allowances for liquefied natural gas investment that have been granted by B.C. and Ottawa, which could be a deal-breaker for LNG. B.C. NDP leader John Horgan formalized his opposition to the TransMountain expansion last week, in a letter filed with the National Energy Board.

But we’re expected to believe that Mulcair has a different position, for now.

Harper was forced to admit that his long effort

to persuade U.S. President Barack Obama to approve the Keystone XL pipeline has failed, and the project will have to wait until Obama leaves office next year.

The debate also confirmed positions on Canada’s modest role in bombing Islamic State terrorist positions in Iraq and Syria. The Conservatives are for it, and the Liberals, NDP and Greens are against it.

Trudeau set the stage for the contest in Quebec, which B.C. voters can only watch from afar to see if it once again decides the shape of their federal government.

Trudeau pushed Mulcair on his cynical bid to court the separatist voters who suddenly swung to Jack Layton’s NDP in 2011.

Like petroleum prices, it’s beyond our control.

Fair compensation for accident-related setbacks

I

n my previous column in this series, I discussed priorities for what to do at the scene of a crash.

As promised, this week I am moving on to priorities for what to do after you have left the scene of a crash.

There is one postcrash task, or undertaking, that shines like a lighthouse beacon as a top priority above all others. It is so important that I feel like the wheel of a record player going round and round and round as I advise on this point again and again and again.

It might seem “Of course!” obvious, but so many injured victims have a lack of understanding about how the medical system works, are misled by ICBC funding choices, or have a reluctance to get help where help is needed.

I am talking about pursuing recovery for your injuries. Our medical system is reactive, not proactive. You need

to ask for help; it won’t come to you.

This can be hard for many of us “suck it up” people who resist asking for help and don’t want to be viewed as a whiner.

Bob is a case in point.

It took me two to three months before I went to my doctor to find out how to get rid of him.

Three courses of antibiotics and two minor “surgeries” later, “Bob the boil” was finally eradicated from my behind.

Had I sought medical care much earlier the issue would have been dealt with in short order without a beast de-

veloping and being given a name.

Your goal is to achieve as complete and quick a recovery from your injuries as possible.

You will achieve your goal by getting medical advice from a fully informed medical practitioner and very diligently following that advice.

You can’t stop there, though. Car crash injuries are a moving target.

Your medical practitioner’s care recommendations will change over time, depending on how your injuries respond.

You need to go back from time to time in order to fully update your medical practitioner and get updated recommen-dations.

How frequently? Ask your medical practitioner.

Medical treatment isn’t cheap, and ICBC holds the “purse strings” for funding crash injury related care.

A “song and dance” ensues with getting referral slips from the doc-

tor and sending them to the ICBC adjuster for funding “approval,” which repeats itself periodically as required by the adjuster.

The adjuster will often offer to reimburse your “user fees” which you pay in addition to amounts paid directly by ICBC to the treating practitioner. Often, the ICBC adjuster will agree to fund some, but not other care, or for a restricted amount of care.

Eventually, and inevitably, the funding “tap” for certain care, or care generally, will be shut off.

The critical thing to remember is that your ICBC adjuster has no medical training and is entirely unqualified to make decisions about your care.

You must rely solely on your medical team to determine what care is most likely to reach your goal (of as full and quick a recovery as possible) and not make the critical mistake that many make, which is to adjust or stop

care based on funding decisions made by an insurance adjuster.

How do you pay for care that is no longer funded by ICBC? You find a way. Easy for a “high priced lawyer” to say “find a way?”

Yes, it is, but if you ever run out of options for funding your care give me a call and I’ll help you figure it out.

Does this sound like medical advice? It happens to also be the best legal advice you could get to maximize the prospect of fair financial compensation for your injuries and losses.

At its peak, the United Church had over one million members, worshipping in nearly 7,000 congregations. Today, it has half a million members, in around 3,000 individual congregations.

And of those, about 1,000 will close over the next 10 years, as the same old supporters grow even older and die.

The affluent years are no more.

cil meetings in Corner Book, parts of the United Church amoeba will be reaching out, looking for new ways to organize the larger body, new ways to express their faith, new ways to make a difference in a hurting world.

Almost inevitably, other parts of the amoeba will dig in their heels and refuse to move.

Pope Francis seems to have the same problem in the Roman Catholic church. His recent statements suggest that Catholicism’s long-standing

focus on abortion, divorce and contraception are now distracting it from the larger issues of poverty, ignorance, economic exploitation and degradation of the environment.

For voicing these sentiments, even before he was elected Pope, the ultra-conservative Catholic wing in his own Argentina labelled him an apostate, a traitor to his faith.

Bylaws work Mon-Fri when everyone’s behaving To the editor: I encourage everyone to call the Regional District of the Central Okanagan and ask why there is no bylaw enforcement on weekends in the RDCO, but there is bylaw enforce-

ment on weekends in Lake Country ticketing the model airplane flying club for camping each day of the long weekend.

We called RDCO about a bylaw infraction on Friday before the long weekend and left a mes-

sage on the answering machine, and by Tuesday we called again to find out if the bylaw will be enforced.

On Tuesday we were told no, because they were too busy with their prior work load.

The RCMP tell us they will not attend to bylaw infractions either.

Most people break bylaws when they are home from work, but bylaws [officers[ only work normal working hours like everyone else.

Why are bylaw officers not working when people are off work, instead of working when everyone is at work?

Drought-friendly plants that thrive parched

A

lthough my focus in my home garden has always been to choose water-wise plants, I find during this unseasonably long spell of dry, hot weather some plants are thriving, while others seem to be gasping for water.

For the past 11 years I have gardened in pure sand—very easy to dig but poor in nutrients and no capacity to retain moisture.

Even though I have dug-in lots of water retentive organic matter and kept the soil mulched, the soil dries out rapidly and becomes hydrophobic (repels water).

I am a plantaholic.

Having a plant nursery for nine years magnified my interest in plant varieties.

Gwen Steele Natural Gardens When I gardened there, in amended clay soil, I could grow many water-wise plants without supplemental water.

When I first moved to this property, I brought my plant friends with me.

Sadly, many of my favourites couldn’t survive in dry, sandy soil.

I have grown some of them in an area that I water sporadically as

needed.

This year the need has intensified.

I suspect that the weather we are experiencing is going to be the norm so I am planning to convert all the front and side gardens into plants that thrive in drought.

The time has come for hard decisions. Some plant friends are going to need a new home.

I have taken stock of what is thriving with little to no extra water. I may add more of these to replace the plants that need water.

Shade garden: The border of giant Solomon’s seal (Polygonatum commutatum) is outstanding.

Leathery-leaved Bergenia looks great.

Euonymous Emerald Gaiety’ and Green and Gold both add brightness with their variegated leaves.

Surprisingly, hostas are doing very well (Krosse Regal,

Albo-marginata, Golden Tiara and Sum and Substance).

They were planted in a compost/sandy soil mixture nine years ago and are kept mulched. The root systems are now well-developed.

The ground hugging Cotoneaster horizontalis has spread well and layered itself to make new plants.

Succulents, tall Sedum Autumn Joy and Matrona and many hen and chick varieties look great.

Northern sea oats grass (Chasmanthium latifolium) is a lush bright green.

Natives Oregon grape, Saskatoon and snowberry have all self-seeded here.

Cannan gets the job done for local voter

To the editor: I would like to thank our MP Ron Cannan and also let others know that should they encounter issues when dealing with federal government departments that Ron is willing to take the time to give his support.

I should add that I have had previous discussions with Ron, both in support and also in dissent with Conservative policies but I have never personally met him so this is not a letter written by a Conservative party member trying to sneak in a free campaign advertisement.

My son recently had an issue trying to import a boat trailer from California so had to store it in Oroville waiting on additional paperwork.

He did have California Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) documentation proving ownership but it was not the particular required documentation per Canada Border Services, who said all they do is enforce regulation established by the Canadian Department of Transport.

After placing a call to Transport Canada I was told it was actually the Register of Imported Vehicles (RIV) that set the regulations and, of course, a call to them and I was informed it was Canada Border Services who get the final call on required documentation.

As I had now gone full circle and proved that the dog can catch his tail I thought I’d see if our MP could provide any assistance so I sent him an email with the particulars.

Upon receiving my email Ron Cannan phoned me to let me know that he would forward my original email with all the information and contact the Ministry of Transport on our behalf.

The next day I was contacted by office staff of the Minister of Transport who said they would look into the matter.

A few days later Ron followed up and called me asking how we were

opinion making out and I informed him that I had not heard back from anyone since the first call.

I am quite sure that he placed another call on our behalf because within a few hours I was contacted by an importation

officer from Transport Canada who was most helpful and provided an official letter notifying Canada Border Services that the documentation we had from the California DMV met the criteria for importation

per Transport Canada guidelines and that they had no issue with Canada Border services allowing importation.

Armed with that letter and the California DMV trailer documents Canada Border Services

did allow the trailer to be imported into Canada.

I know for a fact that without the assistance of our MP that we would have been spinning our wheels for weeks waiting for additional documentation from the Califor-

nia DMV and my son would not have had the use of the boat that was sitting on the trailer that he purchased.

This was the first time I had ever had cause to ask an elected MP for any assistance and real-

izing that in the grand scheme of things this was a pretty minor issue I was prepared to be brushed off but was pleasantly surprised with SEE BOAT TRAILER A9

Whooping cough on the increase

Interior Health is seeing an increase in pertussis cases, also known as whooping cough and would like to remind parents about the importance of making sure their children’s immunizations are up to date.

Pertussis activity is being seen across the region with the majority of cases currently in the Central Okanagan.

“Infants under one year of age are most at risk for serious complications from pertussis,” said Dr. Kamran Golmohammadi, medical health officer with Interior Health. “Pertussis starts with similar symptoms to a common cold (runny nose, sore throat and mild fever) and then progresses to a cough.

The cough can become severe, with or without a classic whooping sound, and may be accompanied by gasping, gagging, shortness of breathing and vomiting. In serious cases it can lead to pneumonia, seizures, brain

damage or even death.”

Immunization is the best way to prevent the spread of this disease.

The pertussis vaccine is part of the routine childhood vaccinations that are given at 2 months, 4 months, 6 months and 18 months old and again at age 4 to 6 years (before kindergarten). A pertussis vaccine is also given to teens at 14 to 16 years of age (Grade 9) in British Columbia.

“We are strongly advising all parents to ensure their children are immunized so they are not at risk,” adds Dr. Golmohammadi. “The pertussis vaccine is very safe and effective in preventing the spread of this disease.”

Parents are advised to check their child’s immunization record and make sure they are up to date. Information about accessing immunization records can be found at ImmunizeBC. To discuss pertussis immunization for chil-

dren or to book an appointment contact your local public health centre. Adults who have not been immunized for pertussis can contact their local pharmacy to inquire about getting the vaccine.

Local food, the importance of B.C. agriculture and food security is in the news a lot these days.

Food security? What do you mean? We need to lock up our food?

Well not quite. Food security means much more than that.

Food security exists when all community members are able to get safe, personally acceptable food through a sustainable food system that maximizes healthy

choices, community self-reliance and equal access for everyone.

Prices are going up and many people cannot afford to buy healthy food.

The cost of food is rising for a number of reasons including higher gas prices and dry growing areas.

It is important to source locally grown food whenever possible, whether it be from your garden or a local farm.

Local foods help reduce our dependence on food that travels far distances.

If you are affected by the rising cost of food or if you want to help build food security in your community, there are a number of things you

can do.

• Start growing your own food. Even if you don’t have a green thumb, there are many fruits and vegetables that are easy to grow. Start small with one or two patio pots with cucumber or tomatoes and go from there. Ask friends or neighbours who garden for some tips.

• Sign up for a plot at your local community garden or start a community garden if you don’t have one close by.

• Consider joining a local gleaning program.

Volunteers who help pick fruit and veggies get to take some home.

• Support local farmers. Shop at farmers markets or fruit and veg-

gie stands.

• Get involved with a food policy council or food action group. These groups are involved in projects and programs that help build food security.

• Learn about your local government and how they are supporting food security.

Boys and girls benefit from generous donation A donation of $20,000 from the RBC Foundation will help Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs deliver vital programs and services for youth in Lake Country.

career development and community engagement activities.

Okanagan man becomes national hang gliding champion There aren’t an abundance of people who can pilot a hang glider more efficiently for effectively than Tyler Borradaile.

The Canadian Hang Gliding Championship, held in Lumby, was five rounds held over a seven-day stretch.

Borradaile’s skills were evident early as the Kelowna man captured the 2015 Canadian Hang

Gliding Championship.

The win earned Boradaille an entry into the Pre World Championship next year and the World Championships in Brazil in 2017.

Competing against 26 pilots from six countries in the open competition, Boradaille won the title on points, placing ahead of Ross Hunter of Calgary, the 2010 champion.

Slow tourism coming to Okanagan The South Okanagan is now home to one of the first cycling “resort” offerings in North America.

Giro Okanagan, founded by Kelowna digital marketing entrepreneur Gord Hotchkiss, is launching a new venture that combines the world-class cycling offered by the region and is intended to showcase the “slow tourism” movement.

Cycling tourism is big business, with billions being spent annually for cycling vacations worldwide.

Most of these vacations are “point-topoint” type tours offered by companies such as Backcountry, Trek Vacations and Butterfield and Robinson.

But recently, the concept of cycling destination resorts has grown in popularity in locations such as Italy, France and Spain.

These resorts offer a wide variety of route options with the conven-

ience of staying in one location. This allows guests to gain a greater appreciation for the area and also gives them more flexibility in planning a cycling holiday.

Giro Okanagan is one of the first cycling destination resorts in North America.

While Hotchkiss lives in Kelowna, it was clear in the earliest planning stages that Penticton was the first choice as a cycling vacation hub.

“The South Okanagan has a variety of routes that simply can’t be touched by other locations,” Hotchkiss said.

“It sounds cliché to say it’s ‘world class’ but it is. In one week, a guest can cycle every day, through distinctly different terrains and environments—from desert to alpine high country to lush vineyards.”

“We have some exceptional cycling routes.

If you can bring those two things together into a seamless offering, you can offer a remarkable vacation. That’s our goal,” Hotchkiss said.

Giro Okanagan will offer vacation packages starting this fall and will run through a full season in 2016 from April through October, with a slow down during the summer, he said.

But cycling won’t be the only thing that the South Okanagan offers.

“We planned this from the beginning to be a slow tourism offering,” Hotchkiss said.

The purpose of the slow tourism movement is to offer authentic, intimate, connected experiences that go beyond the typical vacation in the South Okanagan.

For example, Giro Okanagan hosts farmto-table dinners working with an extensive network of tourism partners—artisans, winemakers and chefs.

Hotchkiss was cofounder of Enquiro in Kelowna, which grew to be a digital marketing force in North America.

He sold Enquiro to Yellow Page Media in 2010.

While Giro Okanagan is a change in direction for Hotchkiss, he is very passionate about it.

“I’ve always loved cycling,” he said, “and it’s every cyclists dream to try to find a way to turn it into a full-time job.

“This is a way for me to do that.”

Pirate Pak Day sends kids to camp The annual White Spot fundraiser that provides summer camp experience for kids in need will return Aug. 12.

Pirate Pak Day, held for the sixth consecutive year, will see a toonie from the sale of every Pirate Pak donated to the Zajac Ranch For Children, a local charity that provides kids and young adults with life-threatening illnesses and chronic disabilities a chance to attend a summer camp.

White Spot restaurants across Alberta and B.C., including the outlets in Kelowna and

West Kelowna, support this annual fundraiser.

Pirate Pak Day has raised a total of $347,172 since its inception, and sent more than 100 young buccaneers to camp.

White Spot Week at Zajac Ranch runs from Aug. 17 to 21 and includes activities ranging from kayaking and climbing to swimming and horseback riding.

“Pirate Pak Day is a big event for us, one that both our staff and guests look forward to every year,” said White Spot president Warren Erhart.

Council has been asked to approve a Temporary Use Permit to allow for the use of soil removal equipment (excavator, loader, crusher, a screening plant) associated with soil removal permit SR2015-001.

The applicant also is seeking approval for the outdoor storage of portable (rental) fencing, storage bins, and construction equipment.

A Temporary Permit may be used for a maximum period of three years, and may be renewed once. After that time they may reapply for a new Temporary Permit.

Council has been asked to consider an Official Community Plan Bylaw Amendment (DLC) Bylaw 927, 2015 which would incorporate an updated Regional Context Statement in the District of Lake Countryâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s Official Community Plan Bylaw No. 750, 2010 to reflect the Regional District of Central Okanagan Regional Growth Strategy Bylaw No. 1336, 2013.

All member municipalities are required to adopt a Regional Context Statement (RCS) in their Official Community Plans (OCP) within two years of the adoption of the Regional District of Central Okanagan Regional Growth Strategy Bylaw No. 1336, 2013.

2. Council has been asked to consider a Land Use Contract Discharge bylaw.
