Carihi School PRINCIPAL ’ S MESSAGE One of the most rewarding aspects of being the Principal of Carihi Secondary School is sharing in the journey that our students take while at our school. For the graduating class of 2015, this journey has been exceptional. We are proud of this class and their achievements both inside and outside of the classroom, and have full confidence that they will pursue their own unique paths with excitement and vigour – characteristics we hope we have helped instill in you. We would like to thank you for the contributions you have made to our school and to the community at large over the past three years. Your efforts and exemplary citizenship continue to bring forth great results, and help to keep our school held to high regard, both locally and provincially. It has been inspiring to see what you have achieved in the areas of fine arts, academics, athletics, and citizenship, and we look forward to what your efforts will bring in the future. You truly are the leaders of tomorrow, and if your past contributions have set the foundation for what is to come, our community is in good hands. You have been great role models for our younger students with regards to what a Carihi student should be – a well-rounded individual who strives for excellence in an area of passion, while working towards improving the world around you. We hope that you take some time to thank those that have helped you on your journey towards graduation and who have helped you define what lies ahead. On behalf of the staff at Carihi, I would like to congratulate this year’s graduating class, and hope that you look back on your time here with fond memories and ever lasting friendships. We wish you all the best in your future endeavours and invite you to share with us your future accomplishments. Congratulations Grad Class of 2015!

VALEDICTORIAN ’ S MESSAGE I can’t begin to describe how excited and honoured I am to be able to speak on behalf of such an amazing group of young men and women. Some of them have been with me the whole thirteen years, others joined me back in middle school, and we were lucky enough that some jumped into this amazing class right at the buzzer. No matter the background or opinions of individuals, through our time together we have developed a bond. This far surpasses just being born in the same year. That being said a bond doesn’t necessarily mean a friendship (although there are plenty of those). A bond in many cases is about a sense of respect for the people around us as we all travel along at about the same pace. Throughout the past thirteen years we have been hustled from gate to gate, with the public school system as our shepherd. We are now nearing the final gate. This is really where the analogy falls apart, because I couldn’t tell you why on Earth some shepherd would bring his livestock to a gate that sets them free. Although, just let us assume that this shepherd has some absurd amount of money, and an odd sense of entertainment, so they are letting us go free into the world. Let me improve that last sentence, we aren’t being let free to stumble a few metres and fall on our faces. I don’t know if you’ve ever seen a group of about two hundred livestock set free, in fact I hope not because that sounds dangerous, but I can only assume it’s more of a rampage, and rampage we will. The gates are prepared to swing open, and standing behind them is a group. Some of the most determined and hardworking people that you will soon be able to meet. Everyone already out there in the real world better lace up running shoes. Be prepared, because keeping up to the people of our grad class is nothing to take lightly.

Know the consequences of drinking and driving. Ask yourself if you are prepared to deal with those consequences. Drinking and driving can have tragic consequences, not only for the person who drives drunk, but also for friends, relatives and strangers. What can you do if you find yourself in a situation involving alcohol and driving? It is important to first educate yourself on the facts of alcohol. • Beer is NOT less intoxicating than other types of alcoholic beverages. • It is illegal for a minor to drink alcohol in Canada. Period! • Cold showers, fresh air and hot coffee do not make you sober. It takes time for the effects of alcohol to be eliminated from your body. • Food in the stomach only delays the absorption of alcohol; it does not keep you sober. • Teenagers are cited as the most important variable related to crash risk. • Drinking drivers 16 to 20 are twice as likely to be involved in a fatal crash as drinking drivers 21 and older.

VALEDICTORIAN ’ S MESSAGE On September 5th 2012, a very talented set of young individuals entered the doors that were Timberline. This was the beginning of the boundless journey we would embark on together; thus forming the bond that is the Grad Class of 2015. Bonds like these are not created overnight; they are woven together through common experiences. Forged through the devotion we have to each other, mended with our diverse personalities. It’s these qualities that brought the Grad Class of 2015 together, in an effort to make these three years of high school unforgettable. This is a responsibility we have taken on as a Grad Class. This commitment unites us, and means through thick and thin, we will be there for each other. We will have triumphed rejection, created new found hope, and pushed our so called “limits” past the stars. This is only a small virtue we have adapted to knowing and sharing, in Timberline. Not only within the faculty have these students demonstrated such an optimistic and accepting environment, but they have enriched the community through their thoughtfulness and meaningful contributions. Much of their involvement can be found through their jobs, charity work, and dedication to organizations. This is what supports and brands our youth with excellence and trust. I can genuinely say it has been a pleasure and very influential experience growing up alongside these extraordinary young adults. This humbling privilege has taught me far more than any classroom lecture, or long drawn out textbook ever could. It has taught me the value of friendship and laughter. How life is a team game, and it takes more than one person to succeed. Over the years, this outstanding class was there for me, made me strive to do better, and gave me the courage to be where I am today. It is a tremendous honour to be in the position of Valedictorian. The chance to represent Timberline warms my heart every time it crosses my mind. To try to speak to the staff ’s magnitude and impact on the school would be impossible. They dedicate themselves day after day to the well being of the student body. I cannot thank them enough. For the students themselves, I feel honoured beyond belief to represent you at the Commencement Ceremony, and look forward to performing my speech and walking off that stage together.

Gold River Secondary Beauty is being the best possible version of yourself inside and out. Cosmetics & Day Spa 635 11 Ave, Campbell River 250-286-0622 crmerlenorman.com

PRINCIPAL ’ S MESSAGE Each of you is destined to succeed and to be happy. What success and happiness is will be different for each of you. Success does not happen by accident. It is achieved through a series of choices that you make throughout your lives. By setting goals and making plans to reach these goals, success and happiness will follow. You have been encouraged time and time again to set goals, set goals, over and over again. My message to you is to dream big. Everyone is good at something. Find out what it is and become the best at it. Reach high. Put your dreams and goals on paper. Writing your dreams and goals down increases the chances of you achieving them and reduces the possibility of getting distracted along the way. Put them away and from time to time look at them so you can keep focused. With a dream you can reach your full potential; without one, well, you will achieve something but not be the best at what you are doing. Along the way to reaching your big dream you will succeed at many small dreams. Ignore those who say you can’t reach your dream and embrace those who support and encourage you. Keep working towards your dream. You will get there. Reaching your big dream will be worth all of the hard work and sacrifices you will have to make along the way. On behalf of myself and the staff of Gold River Secondary School, I wish you all the best in your future endeavours.

Congrats Grads!!

We are proud to be graduates of Gold River Secondary School, a small school that has given us great opportunities to learn beyond the classrooms and to grow as individuals. With supportive teachers and staff helping us to succeed academically, parents encouraging us to strive to do our best, and fellow students and friends making the past five years enjoyable and memorable. We have all built strong foundations for success in the years to come. The small student body is more like a family than a classroom; and, the camaraderie established among us, along with the close bonds with our teachers, is unbreakable. Each and every student at Gold River Secondary is a unique individual who contributes to the truly amazing diversity at our school. Unquestionably, each graduate is equipped with a set of exceptional talents, and we are sure that they will all continue to develop their skills through life and achieve their personal goals. We are glad to have been a part of this remarkable class, and we commend the admirable effort that has been put forth by all students. The foundations laid while attending Gold River Secondary, and the incredibly kind and helpful staff, have guided us towards excellence. We can’t wait to delve into the next chapters of our lives. We sincerely want to congratulate the class of 2015 for achieving this special milestone, and we wish for everyone success in his or her ambitions for the future.

CONGRATULATIONS!

Your total flooring solution!

PRINCIPAL ’ S MESSAGE Commencement is such an interesting word. It means both commemorating an ending as well as the beginning of something. I am intrigued that one word can accomplish both of these definitions at the same time. The ending: we congratulate you, graduates, on having reached the ending of your formal, mandatory education. You have put in time and effort and will now be publically rewarded for your individual strengths, interests, and abilities. Your challenge is now on how to use those strengths, interests, and abilities to serve God more effectively. The beginning: even though school is part of real life, graduation marks the beginning of your life as an adult. This beginning marks the stage when you must make real decisions that will affect your career, future relationships, location and lifestyle. For many, this can be a scary time. It is far easier to have a mentor or life coach available to ease the stress and anxiety surrounding these decisions. We can be thankful that those of you who have chosen to follow the Lord Jesus Christ have been given the Holy Spirit to act as a guide and mentor to help you navigate those decisions and direct your service.

Live Life. Out Loud. Make it count. #NOREGRETS $75 OFF any tour if booked within one year of your graduation.

VALEDICTORIAN ’ S MESSAGE I still remember the first day of Kindergarten. Walking into a brand new environment with lots of strange people was a bit scary. Little did I know one day I would be calling many of these strange people my closest friends, although knowing them better didn’t seem to make them any less strange. But I think the reason we get along so well is because we aren’t a normal class. I’m going to miss these great years we’ve spent together, but there are many more good times to come. Thanks to our teachers, parents, and peers, we now possess the knowledge and skills we need to continue our education and chase down our aspirations and dreams. Dreams that once seemed so far away are now in sight. In a way, it is very much like that first day of kindergarten. This is an exciting time for all of us, but also a challenging time. We only have one life, one chance to make a difference in this world, and to leave behind a legacy. But is that really enough? Is our whole purpose in life just to accomplish our goals we aim to achieve? Jeremiah 29:11 says: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”. There is more to this life that just what we set out to achieve, more to our journey than accomplishing just our goals. I believe that God has a plan for everyone. Whatever we do and wherever life takes us, we will have the opportunity to not only change the world with our talents and skills, but more importantly make a positive impact on the lives of others. So march into life with a desire to live big! Pursue your dreams without hesitation, but I challenge you to remember what is most important. Invest your energy, your time, and your love in things that are glorifying to God and beneficial to his kingdom.

On behalf of the staff and students at Robron Centre and School District 72 I would like to congratulate the Robron Centre Graduating Class of 2015! Learners at Robron Centre come to the centre for a variety of reasons and at various stages of their life and learning journey. Whatever the stage of life, and whatever their individual life stories, these learners have fulfilled their dreams of graduating. This year 20 learners have realized their dream at Robron Centre. Be it through attending one of Robron’s nine alternate programs, eBlend home and distance learning or Continuing Education programs; our learners have persevered and through their hard work and determination have achieved this significant milestone. At Robron Centre students and staff work together to ensure our graduates: • feel they Belong to a community in which they are cared for and respected, and in turn they care for and respect others. • develop their sense of Mastery academically, physically, socially and spiritually and have the ability to achieve their future goals. • develop their sense of Independence and through the many opportunities they have to make their own decisions and take responsibility for their failure or success; have learned to set goals and strive to achieve them through self-discipline. • and finally, develop Generosity – by helping others they have developed their sense of personal worth and are able to recognize they have the wisdom and knowledge to make a difference in the world and in the lives of others. We wish our learners all the best in their future journeys and are confident that they will succeed.

Greg Johnson

VALEDICTORIAN ’ S MESSAGE

Wishing you a lifetime of successful moments.

As we come to this phase, the next phase, of our lives, we often find ourselves thinking about the future. Some of us may be worried about what the future holds for us. However in the movie “Jack” Robin Williams reminds his fellow graduates not to worry but instead… “…cast your eyes to the summer sky, when the stars are strung across the velvety night, and when a shooting star streaks through the blackness turning night into day, make a wish. Make your life spectacular!” I know the graduates of Robron will make their lives spectacular! We have learned in an environment that embraces diversity and understands that each of us is unique and recognizes our individual differences whether it be our race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, abilities or beliefs. Robron embraces all of these differences in a positive and nurturing environment. People at Robron understand each other and move beyond simple tolerance to accepting the rich diversity that is contained within the walls of the Robron Centre. I am proud and happy to be a graduate of Robron! Campbell River’s best kept secret!

Robron Centre, Equinox Program - Class of 2015

TO THE GRADUATES OF 2015

Congratulations to all of you on the beginning of your new education in life’s lessons; just in case you were thinking that school is out, your learning is going to really kick into high gear now! The good news is you can forget about trying to keep up with fashion or belonging to the right group; you can now do what you really want to do and go for what you really desire. Make friends, not money, save, don’t spend, and forget about who has the

nicest car or clothes and concentrate on VALUE. The true friends that you make in life are far more valuable than money and FAMILY counts above all. Your family is your heritage, your roots and are always there for you as are true friends. If you are lucky, fortunate

and blessed enough, perhaps you will have as many as the fingers on one hand that you can trust your life with. Family and friends trump money and possessions every time. Good Luck and Be Well Lawrence The Home Guardsman Affordable Monitoring & Response Service
