players stay healthy. The Chuckers are coming off an impressive doubleheader sweep over visiting Kelowna last Sunday at Latrace Field in Minoru Park. After a 9-3 victory in the opening game, Richmond rallied from a four-run deficit in the sixth inning to record an inspiring 10-7 win. The Chuckers showed great character in doing so, with the players consistently providing their teammates with vocal support from the dugout. “We need to build on this,� agreed Verde Rios.“We are all learning to believe and to never give up.� The Chuckers (17-7 on the season) are scheduled to host Cowichan in a doubleheader Saturday at 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. and to entertain Victoria Sunday at noon and 2:30 p.m. All four games are to be played at Latrace Field.

Asked what has been the most notable, and perhaps important growth the team has made since day one, he replied: “Definitely the understanding and build-up of team work ethic. “ “The team is also understanding the coaches’ system,� Verde Rios said. �We have made some adjustments and are working with that together as a team. There is nothing better for us than to see that happened and move forward with preparation. Players now understand what needs to be done and are fitting into their roles.� Verde Rios said the Chuckers need to continue working as hard as they are now to win a few more games to put us in a good position to make the provincials. For the long run , he would like to see the
