Police offers examine the scene of a serious, four-vehicle crash that closed a section of 16 Avenue near 227 Street on Wednesday morning.
Four people were taken to hospital — two in serious condition — after a four-vehicle collision that shut down 16 Avenue on Wednesday morning. Two people were taken to hospital by Air Ambulance and two others were transported by ground. The injuries sustained are serious but not life-threatening, said Langley RCMP. By Thursday, two victims had been released from hospital. Around 9:30 a.m., a small pickup truck travelling eastbound had stopped to make a left turn into a driveway. Another vehicle stopped behind the pickup truck. The second vehicle was rear-ended by a dump truck, starting a chain reaction which pushed the small pickup truck into the oncoming lane. Once in the westbound lane, the pickup was struck by an oncoming SUV. The road, which is a major east-west thoroughfare, was closed between 224 and 232 Streets for most of the day as the investigation into the crash was carried out. Anyone who witnessed the collision and has not yet spoken to police is asked to call Langley RCMP at 604-532-3200.
