Van stolen, plus passenger Woman in vehicle when man jumped in and drove off Kevin MILLS Mission Record

A Mission mother wants to know why more isn’t being done to protect the public after a traumatic experience involving her daughter and a stolen van. The woman – who wants to remain anonymous for fear of retribution – was recently driv-

ing her mini-van in downtown Mission. When she stopped at a local First Avenue store, she left her keys and her 22-year-old daughter in the vehicle. According to the woman, she was in the store for about two minutes when her daughter charged in saying someone stole the van. A man had jumped in the van, and she told

him he was in the wrong vehicle and he had to get out. “He looked at her in the passenger seat, looked her right in the eye, reached over and locked the door,” said the mother. The suspect then put the vehicle in reverse and sped away with the daughter inside. Continued on A4
