Police respond to 155 calls this week ARNE PETRYSHEN

Cranbrook RCMP responded to a total of 155 calls to service between March 31 and April 5. There were 753 calls in total for the month of March. Staff Sgt. Dave Dubnyk gave the report. Dubnyk also noted that if anyone has information on any of the matters in the report, they should contact police. Dubnyk also reminded people to lock their vehicles and keep valuables out of sight, because of the recent rash of vehicle break-ins. March 31 1:05 a.m. A caller reported hearing screaming outside under suspicious circumstances. All officers working performed patrols of the area, but no one was located. There were no further reports of screaming. 7:00 a.m. A single vehicle accident occurred south of Moyie, resulting in minor injuries. 8:05 a.m. A caller reported the theft of four snow tires from a vehicle parked in a compound.

The Sound Principle, East Kootenay’s own Barbershop Quartet, has once again held a successful day of Singing Valentines. The total proceeds from this day are given to The Heart and Stroke Foundation of British Columbia. The cheque in the amount of $1,110 was turned over to Heart and Stroke, Volunteers, Marian Hess (right) and Sandy Joki (left). The quartet consists of (left to right) Michael Jones, Bass, Rollie Cummins, Bari, Gert de Groot, Lead and Joel Vinge, (Tenor). The Sound Principle wishes to thank all of those residents of Cranbrook and Kimberley who chose honour their Sweethearts in this special way.

Water quality advisory in effect for all of Kimberley, Marysville CAROLYN GRANT

Water quality notices are a sure sign of spring in Kimberley, as faster running creeks can increase particulate matter in the water supply. With Matthew and Mark Creeks running faster as the spring melt is underway, the first water quality advisory of the season now in effect. Water Quality Advisory — this affects all users including Kimberley, Marysville, Forest Crowne and the St. Mary Lake Road area. Water Quality Advisories are announced when the water quality is fair, and recent testing shows turbidity in water in both Mark and Matthew Creek is in that range.

Plans are in high gear for 2015 Kootenay Rockies Gran Fondo F O R T H E TOWN SMAN

Spring always brings change and change is coming to the Third Annual Kootenay-Rockies Gran Fondo, taking place this year on Saturday, Sept. 12, a day earlier than the previous Sunday start for the popular event. Fondo organizer and Cranbrook Sunrise Rotary Club member Glenn Dobie says there are some good reasons for the change. “We want to accommodate out of town participants this year with a Saturday schedule which allows
