It’s March madness for Rimbey Midget Renegades. The team’s first place finish in league play secured them a bye in playoffs, but they were up against Hinton last weekend for a two game total point challenge. The first game was held in Rimbey, Friday at 3:15 p.m. and the Renegades traveled to Hinton for the final game.
The third weekend in March, the Renegades will attend the provincial ‘B’ tournament hosted by Ponoka where they will play for a chance to win gold. Rimbey defeated the Wolves 5 – 3 and 6 – 3 to win Zone 4 and advance to Provincials. Coach Corey Scott is proud of his team. “I’ve got a nice blend of talent, camaraderie and heart,” he said. “And we’ve got a great leadership group on the
team.” Scott is pleased Rimbey picked up three Eckville players; Curtis Rangen, Wyatt Flemming and Quinton Marki this year. “We combined with Eckville as they didn’t have a team,” he said. “Overall, I’m just really happy with my team and everybody works hard.”
