Sandy Maguire places a carnation on the final resting place of former Mission teacher Walter Pickersgill. Maguire, a former student, discovered that Pickersgill’s ashes had never been claimed, even though he passed away more than 30 years ago. She, with the help of other former students, arranged to hold a ceremony in Mission last Friday. More than 100 friends, students and family members attended the event. KEVIN MILLS PHOTO
