With FortisBC roughly one-third of the way through its planned upgrade to an advanced metering system in Kelowna to measure electricity use, more and more residents are standing up to question the process. The company maintains the upgrade is necessary to get in line with federal standards and is better for its customers while at the same time, a Kelowna group against the smart meters continues to gain members and momentum. One Kelowna family even prepares to go off the electricity grid completely. Reporter Kevin Parnell talked to FortisBC and some people opposed to the new meters. Story on page A3
