There will be four shuttles running all weekend long. The Horse Barn will once again sponsor one shuttle which will run between the Festival (at the convention centre) and the Horse Barn.

The regular shuttle vans will be available all weekend for hops between the Calvary Church and the Convention Centre. They will also do pickups and drop offs at any of the hotels / motels, at the airport and bus depot.

From the president and Festival Chair, Mark McMillan The 19th Annual Kamloops Cowboy Festival wow!! I just want to thank you all for making the trip. Maybe you drove, maybe you flew, or maybe you took the bus ... whatever way you got here, it was most likely a fairly long trip and we appreciate you making it ... and we sure hope that it was all worthwhile and that you really enjoy your weekend.

If you've been here before - welcome back! If this is your first time then hopefully next year we can say welcome back, and that'll mean that you had a super time. If you have any questions while

you're at the Festival just ask a volunteer (in the red neck rags) - they're here to help.

We're pretty excited about the program again this year: the tradeshow, the art show, the entertainment lineup, and the workshops all look like they'll be great!

Joe Marten Memorial Award for the Preservation of Cowboy Heritage in BC Ken Mather is the recipient for 2015!

The BC Cowboy Heritage Society is proud to be able to once again present the Joe Marten Memorial Award for the Preservation of Cowboy Heritage in BC. The Society's mandate is to promote and preserve cowboy heritage in the Province of BC and this award is an excellent way of recognizing anyone that participates. The 2015 recipient undoubtedly fits the requirements of this award as he is both a historian and an author.

The award will be presented on Saturday, March 14th during the evening main feature show at the Calvary Church. Join us to help honor the 2015 recipient. We would like to thank Traudl Marten for sponsoring this award. She will be at the Saturday evening show to present the award. Horse Barn provides entertainment showing their continued support The Horse Barn is proud to have been a part of The Kamloops Cowboy Festival for all nineteen years! They always sponsor a Festival Shuttle too, so that you will have no trouble getting a ride down to see them and the entertainment that they host for you.

This year the entertainment should be really good at the Horse Barn as performers will be competing for the new Keeper of the West trophy belt buckle. The Horse Barn has sponsored this award that will go to the best "New" song or poem of the weekend. Watch for the ballet box as voting will

be by public opinion.

Tickets are $10 each and the winner will receive a solid silver, custom handmade, 2015 Kamloops Cowboy Festival commemorative belt buckle valued at about $750.00. BCCH Society Student Scholarships Will be on display at the Art Show Scholarships provided by BCCHS have helped many promising students to fulfill their dreams and contribute to society. In the process those who enter increase their awareness of our BC cowboy heritage and the role of the cowboy and ranching in our history.

Entries can be in any of three categories: original art; cowboy crafts; and the written word. Up to three scholarships are awarded. This might be one in each category or all in a single category. The Chairs of the committee are Linda and Sharlene Puhallo.

There were some excellent entries this year. The winners of scholarships are: - Maeghan Watkinson of Quesnel for original art work

- Lilin Zhang of Burnaby for a short story The winners will each receive $500.00 towards future education and the awards will be presented at the Kamloops Cowboy Festival during the main evening feature show on Saturday at the Calvary Community Church.

Mike Puhallo Memorial Student Scholarships The Mike Puhallo Memorial Scholarship for Cowboy Poetry received nineteen entries. The judges, Sharlene Puhallo, Dave Longworth, and Rod Miller all picked a poem called "The Last Gentleman" written

by Kirsten McAllister of Abbotsford.

Kristen will receive a scholarship for $500 for her poem.

Please note all workshops and seminars will be held upstairs at the Calvary Church and there will be no workshops on Sunday.

We are lucky to once again have some of the top performers and craftsmen in the West this year and we’re pleased that they are willing to share some of their thoughts with us in the form of a workshop. Here are the ones that we have in place so far: Daniel Gordon from the Thompson River Boot Company will do a workshop on "History of the Cowboy Boot" and "Traditional Cowboy Boot Construction". This should be both fun and interesting as Daniel makes a really nice western boot.

Ken has written several books on the subject and he was the Manager/Curator at the historic O’Keefe Ranch from 1984 to 2004 so he really knows his stuff.

Cowboy Hats - yes ... back by popular demand will be Tim from Cowboy's Choice and a workshop geared towards cowboy hats. Tim will discuss just about anything you want to know about a western hat.

Gary Allegretto's "Learn to Play Cowboy Harmonica Instantly Workshop" went over super well last time - it was totally sold out. Andy Knight from Knight's Saddlery will be back by popular demand as well, and he'll talk about anything you want to know about saddles.

We also have three different poetry writing workshops and one song writing workshop ... Carol Heuchan has done this at the Festival before and we're glad to see her back. Doris Daley is a regular but this time she wants to focus on performance tips and performance protocol as well as writing poetry.

Susie Knight will do one this year, too, and she's just back from winning the Female Cowboy Poet of the Year from the WMA. On the music side of things Chelsea Cunningham says she's "just coming out of a long stretch of song writing" so she'll be sharing some of her ideas in a workshop titled " Writin, Wropin, and Wridin' - Putting a tune to life".

The Spirit of the West Radio Show will once again sponsor the Rising Star Showcase. Each year we’ve found new, extremely worthy, main stage entertainers for the following year’s Festival. That gives a pretty good indication as to the quality of performers that enter this competition.

There are two different categories - one for Cowboy Poets and one for Western Musicians.

The two categories are judged separately and there are separate cash prizes - $1000 for first place and $500 for second place in both categories.

This year we’ll be using the same two stages - one in the Festival Trade Show area and the other in the Fireside Room at the Church.

Musicians will be on the Trade Show stage Friday at 1:00pm, Saturday at 11:00am & 2:00pm Poets will be on stage in the Church Friday at 3:00pm, Saturday at 11:00am & 1:00pm Sunday the three finalists from both categories will perform on the main stage in the Dinner Theatre at 3:00pm ... this is a special Rising Star Showcase.

The 2015 Hall of Fame inductions To be inducted at the Festival Friday, March 13th, 2015

The Louis Family (Vernon) as a Family Haughton Ranch as a Century Ranch Lloyd Creek Ranch as a Century Ranch

Louis Family - Family

The Ben Louis family in Vernon has been involved in rodeo for five generations as well as raising both horses and cattle.

They have rodeoed in BC, throughout Canada, and the US. They have been involved as judges, organizers, and competitors in amateur, professional and Indian rodeos. They have been great promoters of the sport as well as winning their fair share of trophies and trophy saddles over the years. The family was actively involved in the birth of the Western Indian Rodeo and Exhibition Association which at one time approved 22 rodeos in BC. In the early 1970s they started and ran the "Head of Lake Rodeo" that is believed to be the first, and only, professional rodeo on Reserve Land. They attracted more bronc riders (about 50) than any other ro-

deo in Canada. Ben Louis was born in 1909 and passed away in 1995. He and his wife Rosie had nine boys and six girls. Ben was a cowboy in and out of the arena, a pickup man, and a team roper.

His sons: Mike was a team roper and a quality registered Quarter Horse breeder.

Charlie was a saddle bronc rider, Howard competed in team roping, Robert team ropes and trains horses, and Frank rode saddle broncs. Oliver (passed away 1992 at 44) was an all round cowboy competing in; saddle bronc, steer wrestling, team roping, calf roping, and even rode a few bulls. Cecil is also an all round cowboy competing in saddle bronc, steer wrestling, calf roping, a little bareback, and still team ropes. Blaine and Vaughn both rode saddle bronc and continue to team rope. These cowboys have children, grandchildren and great grandchildren continuing in their footsteps.

Haughton Ranch - Century Ranch

In 1904 Harry Haughton made his permanent move to BC in 1906 with his wife and 3 year old son Jack. Three years later they moved and homesteaded in Knutsford. Leonard and Ernest were born in the following years, 1910 & 1911 respectively, and Don the youngest brother, was born in 1918. Every Saturday the family would take their produce and meat to the farmers market in Kamloops (until it shut down 1918). Over the years the Haughtons obtained more and more land. Ernie joined 4H in 1928 and his first show was the Bull Sale in 1929.

He also won the judging competition in Vancouver the following year and went to Toronto to the Royal Winter Fair. Ernie was also a 4H Beef Club leader. Leonard and Ernie were both very involved in 4H and in the Bull Sales and Provincial Winter Fair. In the 1970s the brothers went their separate ways, each taking one of the properties. Ernie had moved to Kamloops in 1957 but his sons, Jim, Ken and Doug assisted him by running the original ranch. He was very proud of the Shorthorn Cattle he had raised over the years.

The three boys assumed ownership of the ranch after Ernie's death in 1986 and at that time added more properties to their holdings. In the mid 1990s the boys began operating independently - Jim continued with cow-calf on High Lonesome Ranch, Ken had a cow-calf operation at Separation Lake, and Doug at Southlands Ranch. Doug switched from cow calf in 1998 to yearling heifers and now avidly promotes quality local Black Angus beef.

In 2013 Jim saw his 55th year of showing at the Provincial Winter Fair. The Haugh-

ton families take pride in the ranch’s history & heritage and they look forward to passing it on to future generations. Their homestead that was purchased in 19091910 has never left the family.

Lloyd Creek Ranch Century Ranch

Joe Piva and his brother acquired property near Pinantan Lake in 1914 where they cleared the land and raised cattle.

Over the years they added property and grazing leases and have developed a high quality commercial herd. Joe's son Vic has lived and worked on Lloyd Creek Ranch from the time he was born and bought out his brothers Albert and Gordon in 1966. Good horses have always been an essential part of the Lloyd Creek Ranch operations as cattle were moved all the way from Kamloops to the ranch and to the far reaches of the vast rugged range above the ranch. Lloyd Creek Ranch still practices traditional brandings, turnouts, summer cattle drives, and fall roundups.

They have taken pride in honoring BC's ranching heritage and traditions for over 100 years in the same family ... and Vic still rides tall in the saddle.

This year is the 25th Anniversary of the Williams Lake Indoor Rodeo!

Mark your calendars for April 17th, 18th, and 19th. The Rodeo weekend starts off with the third annual Cowboy Carnival which takes place between 9:00 am and 11:00 am on Friday in the arena.

This is where the real cowboys and cowgirls compete ... it's focused on youth under 10 years

old who want to try out some of the events like barrel racing, dummy roping, face painting, and bucking barrels.

The main rodeo performances kick off with some great surprises for the opening act to celebrate the 25th anniversary. The Beer Gardens will be open along with

each of the rodeo performances, with a live video feed so that you don't miss any of the action. Announcer Brett Gardiner (2013 Pro Rodeo Announcer of the year), Entertainer and Barrel man Dennis Halstead, the West Coast Thunder Drill Team and the BCRA competitors, guarantee to

keep you entertained each day.

Don't forget to wear your dancing boots to kick up your heels on Friday evening and Saturday at the Barn Dance.

Back Saturday by popular demand is Lee Dinwoodie and his band. Safe ride home available Friday and Saturday evening by

Adventure Charters.

On Sunday during the intermission the 2015 BC Cowboy Hall of Fame Inductee's will be introduced. This year will be the 9th year at the Williams Lake Indoor Rodeo which says they are "honoured to be able to host this wonderful event each year".

THIS YEAR'S Abe Zacharias

Abe is an award-winning vocalist and songwriter who has performed in many parts of Canada and the US. His 1993 appearance on the stage of the Grand Ol' Opry and his 1997 Golden Heart Award (Country Gospel Male Vocalist of the Year) are two of his career highlights. Abe has gained a legion of fans through his more than 35 years of making music. He was especially pleased when one of them, country star Paul Brandt, credited Abe as being one of his important musical influences.

Recently one of Abe's songs Prairie Homestead from his Songs of the Sage and Saddle album has been receiving extensive airplay by the European Country Music Association. In December 2009 it went to #10 in the Netherlands and #8 in Belgium.

Then in January of 2010 it went to #2 in Norway.

Alan Moberg

Born in Pender Harbour, BC, he has worked on the sea as a fisherman and on the land.

His songs reflect the affinity for people who live close to the land, including the Native Indians. Alan Moberg has received an Award from BMI Canada (Socan) for "an outstanding contribution to Canadian music" as well as three from the BC Country

Music Association during his long musical history. He has written, and sung, about BC in general, for well over 35 years! One of his best known songs is The Williams Lake Stampede. Alan Moberg seems to be reinvigorated with new recordings and a return to concert stages. He does for BC's interior ranchland and coastal rainforest what Ian Tyson does for Alberta cow country and Stan Rogers did for the Great Lakes. Moberg's melodic voice reaches into people's souls.

Alan sings and listening hearts respond. Audiences love him. Alan was inducted into the BC Country Music Hall of Fame in October 2008!

Alberta's Lone Prairie

They were at the Festival in 2010 and went over super well. They may be a relatively new band, but it's members individually have been around in western music for a long time. Jess Lee (The Midnight Rodeo Band), Lain Roth (host of "The Hunting Chronicles" on wild TV) and Grandpa Christie (western singer/songwriter) have joined forces to bring you a truly western musical experience.

Their great vocals and tight harmonies might put you in mind of the Sons of the Pioneers as they take you on a musical journey through some of the western classics as well as some of their own works.

Barry Ward's songs come from his deep roots as a 4th generation farmer and rancher. He writes of the men and women whose lives are entwined with the seasons, the land, and the will of God. In 2014, his song, "Harvest in the Fall," was featured in the closing credits of The Great American Wheat Harvest documentary; his CD, Lonesome County Road, was the recipient of the 2014 Rural Roots Music Commission Western CD of the Year Award; and he was inducted into the Kansas Cowboy Hall of Fame in Dodge City in the Entertainer/Artist category. Barry is the 2013 W estern Music Association Male Performer of the Year. His recording of the song, "Eli Crow," (written by Paul Hendel), won the 2012 Song of the Year from the Academy of Western Artists. He is the 2008 Male Vocalist of the Year in the Western Division of the Gospel Music Association.

Traveling to 22 states and 2 foreign countries, Barry has shared his songs at Cowboy Poetry Gatherings, Silver Dollar City, and venues and churches across the West.

His music has taken him from performing at Carnegie Hall in New York City to the jungles of Cameroon, Africa. Today, Barry and his wife, Victoria, live on a ranch near Elbert, Colorado. Victoria manages Barry's music career and their recording company, Flying W Productions.

As a top-selling illustrator with Leanin’ Tree greeting cards he has slathered North America with his brand of slightly twisted humour. He is also a record producer, arranger, engineer, session player and graphic artist. He even had a stint as a regular columnist in Canadian Cowboy Country Magazine for 9 years. He works with Jeff Foxworthy on a line of Leanin' Tree cards, he's shared the stage with most of the western music icons and has even had a musical influence on the Sons Of The Pioneers. In short, he's not sure what he wants to be if he grows up.

One thing's for certain, however - he is a family man with a strong faith and a deep love for the western way of life. Still married to his first wife after 25 years and with two daughters who even at the time of this writing don't mind being seen with him in public, one might be tempted to say that he's been successful in life. He does what he loves and loves what he does, and a feller really can't get any richer than that. And his Mom assures us that he really is quite harmless. Ben and his family live near Rocky Mountain House in west central Alberta, high on a ridge with a 150-mile view of the blue Canadian Rockies.

An experienced horse trainer, packer, coach, clinician, survival expert, Canadian Ski Patroller, and he has consulted equine wilderness topics at the University and College level. Following a full career in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Bj supervised criminal investigations for the Government of Alberta while instructing at the Lethbridge Community College Criminal Justice Program.

He routinely guides groups of wilderness travellers on horseback through the Rockies.

His skill and knowledge as a packer and horseman has been recognized by the Alberta Trail Riders Association. His lectures and presentations are never boring or difficult to follow as Bj is a well known western entertainer. Bj has won the Will Rogers Award for the AWA's top Cowboy Poetry CD of the year and the international Cowboy Poetry Rodeo's Silver Buckle.

His performances have been featured at Cowboy Poetry Gatherings and Festivals throughout western Canada, the USA and on Cruise Liners.

Ben Crane

Bryan "Bj" Smith

Bryn is a self described R a n c h e r / P o e t / C ow boy and an extremely unique individual. He was raised with 4 sisters and says that he never learned to talk before going to school because he couldn't get a word in edge wise.

In an attempt to make up for lost time Bryn began to write and recite poetry. Although Bryn is mostly known as a cowboy poet he

says he'd rather rope a cow then talk about it.

He raises commercial cattle and ranch horses as well as hiring out to neighboring outfits.

No matter what he's doing he continues to find something to feed his slightly deranged mind. Bryn's first tape was made in 1990.

It was followed by a book in 1994. Next, was a video in 2000, with the combined efforts of Chris and Sharky Schauer. From this video Bryn also produced a CD. Bryn lives with his wife and three kids at Helmer Creek Ranch, in Sundre, Alberta.

Bud Webb

He began his professional career in the music industry in the late 60's touring throughout Canada with his band "Bud Webb & The Outriders". By the mid 70's they had two albums under their belt and many successful tours including working with Marg Osborne and Don Messer of the "Don Messer Show".

Today, Bud has settled in Lake Errock, BC. In 2002 Bud was inducted into the BC Country Music Hall of Fame. He continues to stay active with live performances and annual Santa Claus appearances. He has released three CDs: "Cowboy-Ography", "Enjoy a Seniors Moment", and "I Just Don't Look Good Naked Anymore". The latter was live from the Merritt Mountain Fest. Now enjoying his eighth decade he'll be back to perform a few sets throughout the weekend.

Carol Heuchan

Carol is twice Australian Champion Bush Poet, nine times Laureate winner and also the winner of the richest prize in poetry writing history - a thirtyfour thousand dollar tractor!! (which she reckons she can't drive for nuts). A fair dinkum Aussie horsewoman, she has been riding, competing, and working with horses all her life - including in 'Man from Snowy River' country, but eventually hightailed it (possibly in a hail of bullets) to the warmth of northern New South Wales.

She is an International horse judge and horse events commentator.

But poetry has taken over, with four books and five CDs (all award winning) to her credit.

Needless to say, her heart is in horse poetry.

But it sure doesn't stop there. Her writing runs the gamut - from true life experiences, from quaint to quirky, from heart wrenching to hysterical! She regularly performs in the US and is thrilled to be coming back to Kamloops.

Charlie Ewing

Charlie has spent his life ranching in the Porcupine Hills in south western Alberta. He writes songs about rural and ranch life and about the history of the west.

He grew up listening to folk, country, bluegrass,

and blues music and counts artists like Ian Tyson, Gordon Lightfoot, Doc Watson and Tim O'Brien as his greatest influences.

He performs at music events around southern Alberta either solo or with a band. He has recorded two CDs of his original songs.

A previous winner of the BCCHS Rising Star Showcase, Chelsea was gaining momentum and released her debut CD, "A Woman's Place". She resides with her husband and three boys near Fort St. John, BC where they work together as a family.

Dave McClure Chelsea considers it a great privilege to be on the forefront of Canadian agriculture and ranching. She is a rancher, wife, mother and cowgirl. Living on a working cattle ranch homesteaded by his grandfather, Dave McClure has lived the cowboy

life and uses the experience to shape his cowboy poetry and songwriting. He can make you laugh and cry with the stories he portrays of the cowboy way of life and at the end of his performance you will either be glad you are a cowboy or wish you were one.

He has, these last few years, melded his love for composing piano music in with his cowboy poetry. He claims it is only because he wanted to prove that cowboys can play instruments that have more than six strings.

Dave and his wife Joy and their two children, Andrew, and Rachel, enjoy all that the life of raising cattle and riding horses can give.

Their home is North Central Washington State on the Colville Indian Reservation near the town of Nespelem, about 30 miles east of Omak. He has performed at the Lewis and Clark Western Music Festival in Lewiaton, Idaho, the Dollar Watch Cowboy Jamboree in Winthrop, Washington, the Spirit

Diamond Doug Keith

In the famed 'Red River Valley' "Rhymin' Diamond Doug Keith", Cowboy Poet, Cowboy Cartoonist, Humorist, and Western Illustrator is able to capture his unique comedic take on everyday cowboy life, a life that he lives. He features at Cowboy Gatherings across North America.

Besides his poetry Doug loves to show his art wherever he can.

In fact he was commissioned to produce the official portrait of "Skoal's Airwolf", the three-time world champion buckin' horse, upon its retirement. Doug has been accepted into the Prestigious Cowboy Cartoonists International.

Diamond has been named Manitoba Cowboy Poet of the Year.

Doug has been featured in several Nationally broadcast documentaries. The JUNOS also came calling, where Doug was the MC for the JUNOFEST Country Showcase. His greatest love, Cowboy Poet / Artist and horsewoman is his daughter, Cody Anne. Look for Doug and her either in a saddle or around a fire near you.

Doris Daley

She is an Alberta born, ranch raised, grass fed, windblown, puffed and powdered, frocked and fringed, hale and hearty, happy trailed,

spangled and wrangled road warrior, wordsmith and western poet. Twice voted top female cowboy poet in North America, she makes her living on stages large and small wherever friends of the west gather throughout Canada and the U.S. Regularly featured on stages in Nevada, Texas, Colorado, Arizona, California and all points north and sotuh, Doris lives in Turner Valley, AB.

This Williams Lake rancher is known as the fastest, funniest, cowboy poet in the west.

His original poems are delivered in an easy going, humorous style.

Frank has entertained audiences across Canada and the US. One of the highlights of his career was an invitation to perform his poetry at a Farm Aid Concert in Atlanta, Georgia alongside famous singing stars.

Regrettably he wasn't able to attend, but just being invited was an honour. Numerous dignitaries have been entertained by Frank, including the Lieutenant Governor of BC, the Premier of BC, mayors and council members.

He was recognized by the 2003 city council when he was declared "official poet of Williams Lake". On several occasions, Frank has been nominated by the Academy of Western Artists to receive the Will Rogers Award for male cowboy poet of the year. In 2003, he placed in the top five.

His songs and poems have been played on radio and television throughout Canada, United States, and Europe. He has been a feature entertainer many times at the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering in Elko, Nevada and the Kamloops Cowboy Festival. In March 2010, Frank was inducted into the BC Cowboy Hall of Fame in the artistic category. Frank writes

The Gordie West Band

You may have seen this dual at one of many cowboy festivals in BC and Alberta or promoting the Calgary Stampede throughout North America. Gord West and Mike Dygert (aka The Gordie West Band) are a couple of guys with a thirst for the folklore of the west and a yen to play good, old cowboy music! Gordie West, who lives o short drive north of Kamloops, began playing in country bands in his teens, spent close to 20 years touring overseas where he released 5 albums and now combines a singing career with the wandering life of a Tour Director. He has a voice range that can showcase the ballads of Marty Robbins and the yodel stylings of Wilf Carter. Mike Dygert hails from Three Hills, a small town northeast of Calgary, Alberta. When he's not with Gord, he's usually off playing with "Horsefeathers", a country dance band.

He has a dry wit that will leave you wondering "where'd he come from" and "how'd he get there"! Together they make the music come alive with song and good humour.

Hugh McLennan

Cowboy Times March 12 - 15, 2015 11 Hugh and his wife Billie live the life they love - shared with their cattle and horses in some beautiful country! Hugh has spent a lot of years training horses for the public and specializes in starting colts and developing them for ranch work. He spent many years working in radio and TV but his heart was always in ranching and cowboy life. Sixteen years ago Hugh started the Spirit of the West radio program with the objective to bring the livestock industry to the general public using the real words of the people on the land along with the music and poetry of the west.

As well as many other awards, Hugh's show was named Canada's Best Agricultural Radio Program in two different years. His speaking engagements take him all over North America.

Jayden Stafford

Jayden is 13 years old, and a grade 8 student at Central Middle School, in Dawson Creek, BC. He and his family live on a small hobby farm where he gains inspiration to write his own poems. Between the horses, chickens, pigs, bottle calf, and lambs, there is never a dull moment! Jayden began reciting Brian Salmond's poetry 5 years ago, and now also enjoys reciting Mike Puhallo's poetry.

In March 2011 Jayden competed against 6 other poets in the Rising Star Showcase at the Kamloops Cowboy Festival, and brought home the 1st place prize! (and $1000 in his back pocket!) He eagerly returned to Mainstage at the Kamloops Cowboy Festival in 2012 as a performer! Jayden has had the opportunity to travel to many shows throughout BC and some in Alberta, and looks forward to the excitement the crowd has when he's on stage!

This past November he was main stage in williams Lake at the Museum of the Catiboo

Chilcotin's Cowboy Christmas Concert and from all acounts went over extremely well.

Jeremy Willis

Jeremy's brilliantly crafts history, storytelling, and humour into musical compositions that reflect the modern cowboy and his ties to the past. As a passionate artist, Jeremy Willis’s music is upbeat and modern; fused with the messages and traditions of the old time cowboy.

As a long time performer, Willis’ music not only entertains, but often carries a message that provokes debate.

Presently, Willis is preparing for an upcoming album, "Crossbred", and looks forward to the creative process with local Canadian musicians.

Employing modern digital techniques Willis creates a retro feel that blends fiddles, steel guitars, electric and acoustic instrumentation.

With his unique and humorous style, Willis provokes debate about the misconceptions surrounding the life of the modern cowboy. It’s with intent and skill that Willis combines the art of storytelling with the traditional cowboy and country music genres.

Jess Lee

Jess was signed by RCA in 1980 as the lead singer of the Midnight Rodeo Band. He recorded his first solo album Honky Tonk Love Affair in 1990. This album included 5 Canadian chart hits including the #1 hit "Crowhill Road".

The title track was featured in the movie Harmony Cats, was voted song of the year by the BCCMA, and garnered Jess Lee the Country

Male Vocalist of The Year Award. In the mid-90's Jess returned to his aboriginal musical roots, and together with songwriter Bonnie James wrote the album Sacred Ground that was nominated for a Juno Award in 2004. Jess Lee has appeared on numerous award shows and television shows including "Native Voices", and "The Tommy Hunter Show." In 2011 Jess Lee was inducted into the BCCMA Hall of Fame. Jess has a new album out called "I Am All of This". Dennis Charney, Country Music News, said "The best pure country voice in Canada". Jess will do solo performances this year at the Festival and is also part of the group "Lone Prairie".

Jinny (Lowe)Cash

Jinn hails from Central Idaho and has been playing music around honky tonks, saloons and churches for over 20 years including gatherings in Idaho, Washington and Nevada. She played at the 2009 Kamloops Cowboy Festival and had the dinner theatre stage hopping with the honky tonk piano! She plays a compliment of ragtime, western, western swing and tradition country.

In addition, Jinny used to publishes print and online newspapers and magazines that celebrate the western way of life including Happy Trails, Cowboy Troubadour, and Country Western Gazette. She was a board member for the Lee Earl Memorial Gathering in Lewiston Idaho and active with the Western Music Association and Cowboy Poets of Idaho.

Lain will team up with Jess Lee as the group "Alberta's Lone Prairie".

Loose Rooster

The Loose Roosterwas originally formed

by Dan Fremlin and Jim Karr as a means to showcase Cowboy music as a duo, as well as incorporate a wide range of influences and genres without requiring the approval of too many band members.

The group was an instant hit on the local scene and began getting bookings to bigger and better shows which led them to turn to some old friends and great musicians to join the group from time to time. Jim Karr grew up in the forest industry and has played guitar and sang for as long as he can remember. He has a powerful and soulful voice, perfect for the high lonesome bluegrass sound. He is a pleasure to play music with and a great entertainer. Dan Fremlin makes his home in the Nicola Valley of BC in the heart of cattle country. He began playing the mandolin at age 16 and soonbecame inseparable from the instrument. He is a man of few words on stage, and chooses instead to express himself through the mandolin by playing with the perfect combination of power and emotion. He is a great picker and a good feller to have around if you need a cow doctored.

Despite what the name implies and all the on stage antics and goofing around; these Roosters are every which way but Loose.

Mag Mawhinney

Lain Roth

Mag is an awardwinning, western roots poet who was named the 2012 Cowgirl Poet

of the Year for the Will Rogers Awards, sponsored by the Academy of Western Artists in the US. She has been a featured performer at every major cowboy festival and other events in Western Canada and into the US. Her recitations have also been aired on TV and radio.

Her passion for writing extends to freelancing and she's been published internationally in numerous magazines, anthologies, newspapers and web sites. In recent years, Mag has turned her hand to song writing and her fourth poetry book, "Western Spirit", released in 2012, was also nominated as one of the Top Five Poetry Albums for the Will Rogers Awards. The book contains poems, songs and photos. It also includes a 13 track music CD in which eight musicians from Canada and the US sing the melodies they've composed for her lyrics. Mag resides on Vancouver Island.

Mag had the honour of receiving the Western Music Association's "2013 Cowboy Poetry Book of the Year" award for her book, "Western Spirit". The award show was held in Albuquerque NM, November 23, 2013. In 2014 Mag was in the top five for the Western Music Association's Female Poet of the Year. Congratulations Mag!

Susie Knight

Hanging her hat in Conifer, Colorado, straight west of Denver in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, Susie Knight has entertained audiences of all ages since 2008 with her own brand of cowgirl poetry. A former barrel racer, dude wrangler, riding instructor, and allaround ranch hand, Susie's poems "take you there". She's honored to be named the 2014 Western Music Association Female Poet of the Year, the 2013 Academy of Western Artists' Cowgirl Poet of the Year, the 2013 Cowboy Idol Poet, and recipient of the 2012 Western Music Association Cowboy Poetry CD of the Year.

Celebrating 50 years on stage and in the saddle, Susie Knight is Colorado's Own AllAround Cowgirl Entertainer! Susie is also the 2014 Western Music Association's Female Poet of the Year!

Trinity Seely

This group is a Clinton-based dance troupe developed to the keep Cariboo's gold rush heritage alive. The troupe began several years ago and has been performing throughout the Cariboo region. In addition to the traditional 1800s can can, they've expanded their repertoire with dances from other eras, like the Charleston from the roaring 20s, and songs and waggish skits. The troupe prides itself on being inclusive and you will see dancers of all ages

Trinitity Seely's life has taken her to many wonderful places that she has called home. From British Columbia, to Alcova, Wyoming where she currently resides and works with her husband and 4 children on the Rex Ranch.

Ranching and agriculture have always been a part of Trinity's life and it has embedded in her a love for all things cowboy. Trinity writes and sings from a very personal perspective as a ranch wife, mother

and cowgirl. She takes you on a ride, through the sagebrush seas, depicting with her music a spot on experience that exists in her daily life.

Trinity has received nominations with the Western Music Association for the Crescendo Award in 2012, 2013 and 2014. She just received the 2014 WMA award for "Song of the Year" for her song "Cowboy Hat". She was nominated for the Top 5 Female Vocalist of the year and Best Album with the Academy of Western Artists in 2012 and 2013.

Her Song "Old Poly Rope" was nominated best western song with the Western Writers of America for 2014. She was an invited performer in 2013 at the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering in Elko and has headlined many gatherings throughout the US. Trinity's selftitled debut CD was released in November of 2011, and she released her second CD, "Old Poly Rope" November of 2013.

Wesley Hardisty

Wes is a fiddler, guitarist, singer and composer whose music blends rock, country, folk, Celtic and Métis sounds. His passionate playing is compelling to watch, his love of music evident. Wesley is from the Dene First Nation in the North West Territories. Largely self taught, he took up the fiddle at age thirteen in his hometown of Fort Simpson, NT through the outreach work of the Kole Crook Fiddle Association.

Wesley has come full circle and is now teaching with the same organization. Just 21, he has an impressive resume, with hundreds of gigs, festivals and TV performances. His debut CD won the 2012 Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Award for Best Fiddle CD and he is working on a new CD for 2015. Wesley creates emotionally evocative music and is soulful, natural musician.
