I’ve loved these cars for so long, but perhaps electronics have ruined it for me. Yes, it’s much more competent and has some great features, but I miss the days of the supercharged version. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still a super fun car to drive, but the downshift rev matching in the Cooper S with the manual transmission was not amazing. It was harsh and jerky. I also feel it lost a little bit of personality along its way to adulthood. I’ll forever love them, quirks and all. Honda Fit: MSRP range $14,495-$21,295 The Fit is on my list because I think it is just such a fabulous little car. The Magic Seats really are magic, but the new touchscreen is a huge deterrent. I strongly dislike it. I like buttons. I don’t mind if there are a few to complement the screen but I feel it takes my eyes off the road for too long, even if I’m familiar with the system.

Your tree may be brown after the holidays but you can still be green by recycling your festive fir. The City of Richmond offers multiple options to recycle your Christmas tree. Residents with curbside Green Cart collection may cut up and bundle trees and place it at the curbside on their regular collection day. The tree should be cut and bundled to a maximum size of three feet by two feet and four inches in diameter. Trees may also be dropped off at two different locations. The city’s Recycling Depot, located at 5555 Lynas Lane, accepts trees between 9 a.m. and 6:15 p.m. from Wednesday to Sunday. The depot is closed on statutory holidays. In addition, trees can be dropped off at Ecowaste Industries, which is located at 15111 Williams Rd. For hours of operation, call 604-277-1410 or visit www.ecowaste.com. You can keep the generous holiday spirit going by bringing your tree and a donation to Richmond Firefighters Association’s 28th annual Christmas tree chipping event. Firefighters will help return your tree to nature from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 3 and Sunday, Jan. 4 at Garry Point Park, on the corner of Moncton Street and 7th Avenue, or South Arm Community Centre, located at 8880 Williams Road. community Anderson Elementary supports Extreme Weather Shelter

The Anderson Eagles are a community of caring students, parents and staff. In co-operation with Richmond’s Extreme Weather Shelter at St. Alban Anglican Church, Grade 5 and 6 students of divisions 3 and 16 teamed up to collect donations of waterproof coats, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and other hygiene items, then package the smaller items for giving.
