PRINCE RUPERT RENSHIKAN KARATE CLUB 2014ͳ2015 REGISTRATION Studying traditional Shito-ryu karate for its physical and mental benefits, as well as its self-defense value.

Classes begin September 8th at the Fisherman's Hall.

Junior classes for those 8 to 15 years of age run every Monday and Thursday evening from 6 - 7pm.

Adult classes for those 16 and older run every Monday and Thursday from 7 - 8:30pm.

RUPERT ROCK CLIMBERS Indoor climbing is a fast growing sport around the world. Ini ally developed as a way for rock climbers to con nue training their skills in the offseason, indoor climbing has become a sport in itself.

Rupert Rock Climbers is dedicated to pursuing all forms of rock climbing indoor and out. If you’re preparing for your next big-wall or just want to give it a try come out for an open wall me or learn to belay in an Intro to Climbing class.

FITNESS ORIENTATION Group OrientaƟon A one hour long session with a group of up to 5 people. Our Personal Trainer will walk you through the gym and explain how to use the equipment safely and effec vely, teaching proper body mechanics as well as how to properly care for the equipment. This one hour session will enable you to be confident in the gym.

A 45-minute non-weight bearing workout for all fitness levels. Cues are given to increase or decrease intensity. Swimming skill is not necessary as a flota on belt is worn. Core muscles are Drop-in Only constantly challenged and engaged for the body to remain ver cal.

This workshop will look at the most common running injuries – causes and symptoms together with how to protect one’s body from overtraining! Prerequisites: Assistant Water Safety Instructor

The Assistant Water Safety Instructor Course (AWSI) is a prerequisite to the Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Course. The AWSI Course covers the founda on of instruc onal skills including teaching methods, learning styles, physical principles, progressions, communica on, safety supervision and feedback. Candidates are evaluated during 8 hours of assistant teaching and through individual study assignments. Upon successful comple on of the Assistant Water Safety Instructor Course, candidates are cer fied as Assistant Water Safety Instructors, which enables them to co-teach the Red Cross Swim programs under the supervision of a fully cer fied Water Safety Instructor. AWSI is worth 2 high school credits.

This prepares candidates to instruct the Red Cross Swim programs. Focusing on strategies to introduce and develop swimming and water safety skills in the following curriculum: Preschool Swim, Red Cross Swim Kids and Adult programs.

The manual will issued by the instructor on the 1st day. Candidates must have their own manual as it provides the assignments and will be used as your personal resource manual. Course comple on is based on 100% a endance and the comple on of a prac cum with in 6 months from the course end date. To provide candidates the full experience of teaching the City of Prince Rupert prac cum requirements are that they assist along side a cer fied WSI staff for a full set of lessons and complete the assignments.

The Earl Mah Aquatic Centre is accepting applications for creative, reliable and energetic people to become the next Lifeguard Apprentice. We will choose the top 12 candidates based on Swimming Ability, Fitness Ability, Skill Level, Fear Level and Fun Level.

IF YOU ARE CHOOSEN, WE WILL TRAIN YOU. No qualifications required • No previous training required • No Expericence Required (All candidates will be required to pay for course materials only!)

You must be 16 years of age (Don’t be scared to ask if your not quite 16) This is an ideal job for stay at home Moms and Dads looking for Casual work!

We will be doing field trips and other activities outside of the regular practice times. The instructor will provide each participant with a list of activities and consent forms on the first day.

Equipment: Kayaks, paddles and spray-decks are available for $2.00 a session or $10.00 for the season. You can bring your own equipment with which to practice but kayaks must be scrupulously clean inside and out. Metal-rimmed paddles are not allowed.
