Two Lumby area women were killed in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 6 Saturday night. Police officers responded to the accident west of the Tolko mill at around 7 p.m. “When our officers arrived at the twovehicle crash they were advised by ambulance personnel that the two women in the Pontiac Sunfire, both from the Lumby area, had died in the crash,” said VernonNorth Okanagan RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk. Two people in a Ford Excursion, a man and woman from Vernon, were transported by ambulance to Vernon Jubliee Hospital to be treated for their injuries. “Early indications are the roads were icy and the Sunfire crossed into the oncoming lane of the Ford,” said Molendyk. RCMP traffic service members, along with the collision analyst and BC Coroner, continue to investigate this crash. No names had been released by the coroner prior to The Morning Star’s Tuesday deadline. The police are asking anyone who may have witnessed this crash to call the Vernon or Lumby RCMP with details.
