A Dilly of a Holiday Deal! Buy 1 Get 1 FREE Sa $18 Save Don Fennell photo One of the classic entries in last year's Christmas Classic and Custom Car Cruise, Jordan and Carol McRae are bringing their custom 1953 Ford pickup back to Steveston village Sunday, Dec. 7.

Classics are back in Steveston Sunday by Don Fennell Staff Reporter Steveston village will be filled with the look and sound of the holidays this weekend, and two of the big attractions will be Santa's model car workshop Saturday and the Christmas Classic and Custom Car Cruise on Sunday. This will mark the second year in a row the classics will be cruising the streets of Steveston, with the car owners also showing their holiday spirit by bringing toys to donate to the Richmond Christmas Fund. Organized by the Steveston Merchants Association, the

cruise adds to the lengthy list of activities planned for the Christmas festival which is held annually on the first Sunday in December. Jordan and Carol McRae were the first to register for this year's cruise with their 1953 Ford pickup truck, decorated with candy canes. The McRaes are entering five Christmas parades this year, with the farthest one being held in Bellingham, Was. Dave and Anne Boyce, of Richmond, have chosen their 1927 Ford Roadster pickup to drive in Steveston. They have 11 classic cars and hot rods to choose from. The Boyces will be honoured at the 25th Anniversary

of the Sockeye Run Car Show on June 14, having chaired the first show 25 years ago. The oldest antique car to register for the cruise will be a 1927 Ford Model T Coupe, belonging to Don Broeder. Tevie Smith, of Vancouver, is bringing his popular “Termite Taxi.” His 1947 Chrysler Town & Country is very likely the most travelled and photographed street-driven car in North America. Tevie recently returned from California and put another 2,400 miles on it. Tevie won one of the most decorated car awards last year in Steveston. Several convertibles have registered for the cruise and their

owners are crossing their fingers for good weather, but will be there rain or shine. Linda Gibson is bringing a 1955 Plymouth Valiant Convertible, while Tangerine Twiss is entering her red 1964 ½ Mustang Convertible. Tangerine is from Richmond and did a lot of the restoration work on the car herself. The B.C. Camaro Club is supporting the cruise this year. Ben Hsu, has entered a 1970 Camaro RS Z28; Gary Sobolik a 1968 Camaro convertible; and Rob and Jody Shockbruegger a 1977 Camaro Z2. The Richmond Lions Club will be on hand with their Christmas cake fundraiser and fly-

ers that promote the recently announced dates of June 14 for the 25th anniversary “Sockeye Run Car Show”. You too can still register for the cruise by e-mailing dougharder42@yahoo.ca. Harder, who is organizing the Classic and Custom Car Cruise, says the car owners and public at large are being encouraged to bring unwrapped toys and gifts, or to donate money to the Richmond Christmas Fund. So shine up your ride and head on over to Steveston this weekend for the noon-hour cruise. Prizes will be awarded for best decorated car, truck and commercial entry.
