On the morning of November 15th, after going to the polls, eight “Friends of Lois Creek” got together for a trail brushing work party. “The goal of the trail brushing is to prepare for ski season,” says Roger Warnatsch, “to widen the trails enough to have a walking and skiing trail side by side.” Anyone interested in officially becoming a Friend of Lois Creek should contact Don Davies at donandjuned@gmail.com or 250-427-3966. Volunteer opportunities include maintaining the trails with a chainsaw, brushsaw, hand tools or pure muscle power; helping put out the seasonal signs; setting the tracks with skis on the ski side and snowshoes on the walking side; and occasionally setting tracks with the track setter. We appreciate the community’s help with maintaining our vast trail network.
