The City of Revelstoke is installing a new sidewalk on Nichol Road from Airport Way to Park Drive that it hopes will make the walk safer for children attending Arrow Heights Elementary.

“We are ecstatic about the installation of the new sidewalk along Nichol Road, providing a safe access for our children and residents," said Mardi Syrnyk, the chair of the AHE Parent Advisory Council, in a City of Revelstoke news release.

The PAC has asked the city for a sidewalk along that stretch of road for a number of years after traffic increased following the opening of Revelstoke Mountain Resort in December 2007. Students have had to walk along the narrow shoulder, with

traffic zooming by — a big concern for the school's parents. Speed boards, rumble strips and signs urging drivers to slow down were placed along the route to help control the situation.

The construction follows a plan laid out by Mike Thomas, the city's director of engineering and development services, at a development services committee meeting in April.

There, he presented a plan that called for a substantial 'remix' of the road involving adding bike lanes, narrowing driving lanes. and creating a sidewalk that would be separated from the roadway by a swale that would act as a drainage ditch for storm water management.

Darren Komonoski, the city's operation manager, said in an interview the new sidewalk would be 1.8 metres wide and the swale about two metres wide. The driving lanes would

be narrowed and a bike lane would be created on each side of the road.

The sidewalk will be on the north side of the road, where most of the residences and Arrow Heights Elementary are located.

Komonoski said the narrower lanes should also help slow traffic down. "Our hope is that it creates better driving habits," he said.

Work was scheduled to start on Monday, July 21, and be finished for the start of the school year. Work will likely result in some controlled traffic delays on Nichol Road, as well as interruptions in accessing private properties. Property owners have been notified of the interruptions.

The work will affect 570 metres of roadway and is budgeted to cost $126,000. There are no plans in the budget to extend the sidewalk in the future, said Komonoski.

One woman died and her husband is in critical condition following a crash on the Trans-Canada Highway west of Revelstoke on Sunday.

The crash took place about five kilometres west of Revelstoke a little after 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 20.

An Alberta man is dead after crashing his motorcycle in a snowshed on the Trans-Canada Highway in Glacier National Park last Wednesday morning.

The incident happened just east of the Rogers Pass summit at around 7 a.m. on July 16.

The man succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

VICTORIA – The B.C. Teachers' Federation had better not expect an imposed settlement to keep the beginning of the school year from being disrupted, Finance Minister Mike de Jong said Tuesday.

Every other sector of the public service has been able to find agreements within the government's balanced budget mandate, but the teachers' union might be expecting a legislated settlement as has taken place in the past, de Jong said as he presented the public accounts that show B.C.'s budget balanced as of this spring.

"You cannot send negotiators into a bargaining session with

other public sector workers, hammer out agreements that include very modest settlements, and then because another group decides to make a little more noise, provide more, because you are taking from one group in order to satisfy the demands of another within the context of a balanced budget," de Jong said.

The BCTF strike for the last two weeks of June saved the provincial treasury about $12 million a day, while year-end studies and exams were disrupted. The two sides haven't communicated since early July, when B.C. Supreme Court Justice Stephen Kelleher said they are too far apart for mediation to be effective.

Education Minister Peter Fassbender said the BCTF has to

reduce its demands, in particular improved benefits he said represent an additional $225 million a year. Those include increases to preparation time, pregnancy and parental leave, extended health and dental care and substitute teacher compensation.

De Jong said the lesson of imposing settlements is that they haven't worked.

"Every other sector of the public service is able to negotiate an agreement," he said. "What is it about this one area, and is it the expectation that the government will step up and simply legislate an agreement? I hope that's not the expectation, because that's not the plan."

Search for missing boaters on Kinbasket Lake concluded Alex Cooper

The search for two men who went missing on Kinbasket Lake was concluded after more than a week without signs of the missing boaters.

Allen Healy, 60, of Osoyoos, B.C., and Michael Murphy, 55, of Mission, B.C., were reported missing after they didn’t return from a fishing outing on Monday, July 7.

They left in their 4-metre aluminum boat from the Mica Dam boat launch at around 6:30 p.m. and when they didn’t return to their rooms that night, their co-workers reported them missing and a search was initiated.

Revelstoke RCMP, Search & Rescue and family, friends and co-workers of the two-men searched the lake and shoreline for three days, turning up only a few signs of the two men — a cooler and some sandals.

Last Friday, July 11, the search turned into a recovery mission, with the two men presumed drowned in the vast reservoir. The firm Ralston and Associates Search and Recovery,

which in May recovered the bodies of three teenagers who drowned in Slocan Lake, was brought in to locate the men using side-scan sonar technology.

The search proved very challenging, with the lake bottom filled with trees that were not removed before the reservoir was filled in the 1970s.

“Over the four days of operation, the lake bottom has been partially mapped and contains heavily forested and rocky terrain,” said StaffSgt. Kurt Grabinsky of the Revelstoke RCMP in a news release early last week. “This type of lake bottom provides great difficulty for the team. The sonar device has been caught up in these flooded trees at depths of 500 feet. The Ralstons persist to locate the bodies of the two males as well as the boat.”

Last Thursday, July 17, Ralstons concluded their search and they and the family left the area. A missing person file remains open, said Grabinsky.

his brother and sister, immediately began helping in the search, with more friends and family coming to join them at the remote townsite.

Richard spent days hiking the rough shoreline, looking for signs of his father. By Thursday, July 10, 18 friends and family were helping RCMP and SAR with the search.

By that point, he knew his father wasn’t going to be found.

“You’re driving for two hours with no cell service and you’re hoping when you get up there, they’re

standing on the shore and you can smack them for being so dumb,” he said. “After a few days you come to reality with it all.”

Michael Murphy and Allen Healy were best friends for 30 years — working and socializing together.

Healy did his electrician’s apprenticeship under Murphy when he was in his 40s.

Richard Murphy called Healy “Big Uncle Al.” “They’re not blood uncles, but he’s my uncle as far I’m concerned,”

he said.

For six years growing up, the two families would spend their summers together at Glen Echo Resort near Salmon Arm, camping side-by-side.

I spoke to Richard last Wednesday, July 16, when he was in Revelstoke to pick up his mother before returning to Mica for a memorial service at Potlatch Creek Recreation Site. There, they were planning on erecting a memorial on the bluffs and laying a floating wreath in Kinbasket Lake with two candles on it. The following day the search was called off.

The last time Richard saw his father was about a month ago.

“We had a deck building party where we had 15 people there. It was all our closest friends and families,” he said. “Al, the last time I saw him was at his son’s wedding five weeks ago.”

Richard gave thanks to the work of the RCMP, Search & Rescue, Ralstons and everyone else that helped with the search. “It gave me a newfound and profound respect… for what they do. It’s huge,” he said.

Rains cool down fire risk near Revelstoke Alex Cooper

Weekend rain helped wildfire crews suppress a blaze on Kinbasket Lake north of Golden.

23 millimetres of rain fell on a fire that is burning on the west shore of Kinbasket Lake, about 80 kilometres northwest of Golden, said Jordan Turner, a fire information officer with the Southeast Fire Centre.

“It’s done a lot to bring down the fire behaviour, but with the rain we did receive, a little further south there was a washout on one of the bridges,” he said Monday morning.

The Kinbasket fire started on Thursday, July 10. A mix of government and contract crews quickly attacked the fire and by the end of that weekend they had it in the mopup phase.

However, on Monday, July 14, a thunderstorm came in from

the northeast and brought with it 80–100 km/h winds, causing the fire to expand rapidly, said Brad Litke, a Revelstoke-based fire protection officer with the Wildfire Management Branch.

“The wind effect that came off that cell was enormous,” said Litke Thursday morning. “We have crews that were overnighting there that had to tactically re-position.”

The storm snapped trees and caused the fire to increase to 40 hectares in size. The fire went from being in the mop-up stage to being under expanded attack, with 38 firefighters on scene.

“We’ve got ministry, we’ve got fireline contractors and we’ve got industry crews — it’s a collaborative approach,” said Litke last week.

Fortunately for firefighters, weeks of hot and dry weather ended over the weekend and rain come through the area. Still, the fire continues to

burn and with one of the bridges to the area out, new access options are being looked at, said Turner.

The rain lowered the fire danger rating throughout the Southeast Fire Centre. During the dry spell, the rating in most of the region was a mix of moderate and high, with pockets of extreme.

On Monday, the danger was down to low in the Big Bend country at the northern end of the region, with a mix of high and moderate throughout the rest of the southeast. The rain was expected to continue throughout the week, with dry weather returning on the weekend.

“This rain has been very helpful and allowed us to reset,” said Turner.

The two unit crews based in Revelstoke have been dispatched to the Prince George fire centre to help battle the large wildifres happening there.

After seven years living in Revelstoke and being involved in the community, lawyer Connie Brothers is making a run for a seat on council.

“I’ve thought about it for a long time,” she told the Times Review in an interview last week.

“It’s the next step, it’s something I would really like to do.”

Brothers announced her intentions to run in a news release last Monday, after our last press deadline. I met with her at her office overlooking Mackenzie Avenue and Second Street to find out why she was running.

Brothers moved to Revelstoke with her husband Arvid Zakary just as Revelstoke Mountain Resort opened. They bought the Howson building on Mackenzie, which had been gutted by a fire, and had it re-built. Zakary eventually opened Revy Realty on the main floor, while Brothers has her office upstairs.

Recently, Brothers has been on the board of both the Chamber of Commerce and Community Connections. She also been one of the de-facto leaders of the group known as Focus Revelstoke.

She said she has a vision for Revelstoke — one that involves economic growth as a driver to

Brothers looks at Revelstoke as a can-do community. She talked about the work community connections does with its limited budget, and how involved many people are in the community.

“One of the things I think is really important to maintain is the social network in town, and that’s things like Community Connections,” she said. “We have to make sure that those people are sustainabile, that they can keep doing what they’re doing, and part of it is just being economically healthy.”

What does she say to people worried about all the change happening in Revelstoke, people who might not like it so much?

“I think if you embrace change and look at it as a way to make this community better, then I think everybody will embrace it and be happy about it,” she said.

“I think we have to show that change is a good thing and that it’s good for this community.”

Brothers is the third chamber board member to run for council after Scott Duke and Trevor English. Karen Powers, the owner of Conversations, has also declared her intention to run. Existig councillors Linda Nixon and Gary Starling said they will run again, while Chris Johnston has indicated he is stepping down.

Brothers talked about the larger picture during our interview, not really going into any specifics. She said Revelstoke needed to make sure it was attractive to people looking to invest here — whether its families or bigger businesses.

“How do you attract people here? How do you attract businesses here?” she said. “You have to make sure it’s attractive for them. You have to make sure whatever money they invest, they’re not going to lose it.”

She stressed the need to keep young people in the community by making sure there were jobs for them.

“If people come in and have hopes and dreams and then have to leave because it doesn’t work for them, sooner or later people will stop coming,” she said. “People have to have jobs and they have to have housing. It has to be economically viable for them, otherwise they leave with sad-

Stakeholders fear cuts to adult basic education program ALEX COOPER

Concern is being raised about upcoming cuts to adult learning programs at Okanagan College in Revelstoke.

"It's an invaluable program because for people who need to upgrade to access employment opportunities, it's imperative," said Jill Zacharias, Revelstoke's social development coordinator.

The cuts are being made to the Adult Academic and Career Preparation program at the Revelstoke campus.

The program offers courses for adults to obtain the prerequisites needed for postsecondary programs, or complete their high-school diploma.

Allan Coyle, the director of public affairs for Okanagan College, said the programs hours were being cut to 576 from 924 due to a lack of demand for the courses here.

"The program's demand is driven by the students that show up," he said. "We've seen a drop in demand the past couple of years, so we're

responding in kind."

According to Coyle, the number of students taking the courses dropped to 13 fulltime equivalent in 2013-14, from 19 in 2011-12.

However, according to a backgrounder on the program from the college that Zacharias provided to the Times Review, the number of students that have taken at least one course has remained steady at about 50 for the past three years. In 2011-12, 50 students took 76 courses; in 2012-13, 53 students took 56 course; and in 2013-14, 49 students took 80 courses.

The numbers are down from 2009-10 and 2010-11, when 135 and 112 courses were taken respectively.

Additionally, according to the backgrounder, the fulltime instructor who taught the classes in Revelstoke is being transferred to Vernon at the beginning of August.

"They're cutting it back and transferring it to such a degree that it will be impossible to run it in Revelstoke," said Zacharias.

Coyle said the future of the program in Revelstoke

will be reviewed during the school year and its future will be determined when the 2015-16 budget is set. He said courses could be taken through distance education.

"We're trying to find ways to respond to the demand," he said. "We'll be watching it carefully."

Tracy Spannier, Revelstoke's literacy co-ordinator, said she plans on putting together a meeting with community stakeholders and Okanagan College to see what the community can do to ensure the program continues.

"I do understand there's some plan to have some support in the community but if it's not enough, then we need to be voicing what we need for the community," she said.

"If we don't have enough service, it would be a terrible thing for learners to not have access to a level of service they need to have skill development. There's going to be a lot of training programs coming forward and you really need the basic skills before you enter those training programs."

"Sustained exposure of sockeye to Fraser River water temperatures in this range may slow their migration and cause elevated levels of pre-spawn mortality," the PSC's announcement cautioned.

River temperatures are forecast to moderate to 17.9 degrees over the next few days.

LETTERS POLICY

I usually avoid opinion columns but last week, I had a column in mind about a few things — the Jacobson Ford sign issue and the Revelstoke Board of Education's response to the teachers.

Unfortunately, I ran out of time and space, and so the column sat half-finished on my computer. Here it is, along with a few more idle thoughts.

ON JACOBSON AND SIGNS Council made a bad decision on the Jacobson Ford sign issue. They really should have sought out a solution that involved working with the business to accept their sign before going down the enforcement route. Carrot before the stick and all that.

This council has a problem — real and perceived – that it's unfriendly to business. Signs are a big part of that because they're something seemingly basic, but always so

problematic. Sign regulations are important otherwise you could end up with a chaotic, ugly disaster. You don't want a streetscape of random signs, each shouting louder than the next for people's attention.

Still, there should be some flexibility. One of the reasons Jacobson is being asked to take down its sign is because signs with changeable lettering aren't allowed. Why? I'm not sure. It should really be more a question of aesthetic and on that council — and I — agree that the sign Jacobson put up looks good and fits in with their building.

I get the fear of setting a precedent, but the real push should be to make sure people have nice signs, not only ones that fit withing the confines of the bylaw.

There's also the problem that they built it on city property without permission, but that's easy to resolve. Charge them rent for the space and that's that.

If you can't come to an agreement, then make them take it down.

A LIMP RESPONSE The Revelstoke Board of Education's response to Revelstoke teachers at their last meeting was not much. It took an hour of pressure for one of them to really speak up and express an opinion, but the resolution they came up with and

the letter they wrote was weak.

Compare it to a letter sent out by the Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows school board. They called for more funding for education to offset cost pressures school board's face, yet have no control over, like negotiated wage increases and energy price hikes. “… we cannot pay as much attention to students as we have done in the past,” they wrote.

“Fine arts and physical education programs are inconsistent in our elementary schools given the lack of resources to hire specialists in these areas. We cannot move ahead with new schools in developing areas as quickly as we should …”

The Arrow Lakes school board penned a letter saying they "will continue to advocate for increased stable funding for our education system."

The Kootenay Lake school board wrote, "Increased funding for districts and classrooms, in particular, is a priority for our board. Funding levels have not been adequate to support the needs of our students."

The letter from the Revelstoke school board was two sentences. One said they were concerned about the state of bargaining and the impact on students, staff and the community. The other asked them to get back to the negotiating table. There was no mention of the big problem — that funding

from the province doesn't keep up with the cost pressures on the school boards.

The board has done an admirable job making Revelstoke the envy of many of their peers but they should be more vocal in speaking out about the pressures they face.

THOUGHTS ON TRAILSTOKE And on a less serious note, I was completely blown away by the abilities of the people who took part in the TrailStoke race.

The pace at which the lead runners went (and even the ones near the back of the pack) was incredible. You could also tell they loved it, even though parts of the course could be deemed cruel and unusual punishment.

I took the race as a chance to get up on Revelstoke Mountain Resort in the summer and see what's up there. I was hoping to find that long-lost section of single track, but alas, what I found was a short, gruelling section of trail that I wouldn't want to take a bike on. Still, it is beautiful terrain up there, and hopefully feedback from the race will convince Northland that it's better to open up the alpine sooner rather than later.

We’ve got fantastic alpine around here — a lot of which is very accessible — but a gondola that can whisk you into the alpine in 15 minute, that’s pretty rare.

Glacier House teams up with WildSafeBC for positive changes Contributed by Wildsafebc Revelstoke

Glacier House Resort recently called in Sue Davies of WildSafeBC to present to their entire staff about keeping conflict with wildlife to a minimum. The resort is under new management and the new owner, Daniel Kellie, has great enthusiasm for making sure that the environmental impact of the resort is as small as possible.

“They called me to help with making the property less attractive to wildlife and with educating the staff, so the staff could pass on their understanding of wildlife to their guests. I just wish everyone were as proactive about reducing conflict with wildlife. Some other businesses are going a long way toward being wildlife-aware, but Glacier House has really gone the extra mile”, said Davies. “The very best way to approach the problem of wildlife conflict is to avoid it in the first place, and Glacier House in on the right track.”

Earlier consultation with

WildSafeBC led to the installation of bear-resistant steel bins on the property, secure storage of food waste including a locked grease barrel, and now the staff have had a full presentation on wildlife and how to avoid conflict. Each room will also have brochures on bears, coyotes, cougar, and deer, with brochures available for guests to take away also.

WildSafeBC is committed to teaching people how to reduce conflict with wild animals in Revelstoke.

“I’d love for other resorts, hotels, camp grounds, and even restaurants in the area to be as proactive as Glacier House”, said Davies. “I’d be more than willing to put together a package to suit each business; brochures, information session with staff, helping with reducing wildlife attractants on the property and such. And this applies to those businesses down town too. Remember, there are certainly bears and coyotes throughout the whole town, even the occasional cougar too.”

After 54 kilometres and about 3,000 vertical metres of climbing, Max King and Anne-Marie Madden emerged triumphant at the first ever TrailStoke race at Revelstoke Mountain Resort.

"The most memorable part was me suffering up a lot of those hills that I thought I was going to be running," said King. "It ended up being a lot more hiking, a lot tougher than I thought it was going to be."

Nick Elson of Squamish finished second to King - an American - to claim the Canadian Long Distance Running title. King, an accomplished ultra-runner who was one of the guest speakers at a special event on Friday, completed the course in 4:42:57 only 40 seconds ahead of Elson.

King had the lead through the road sections of the race, but Elson was able to pass him on the technical alpine portion, only for King to regain his lead once the race returned to the roads.

"A lot of is nice hiking through meadows but the footing's so bad, you can't run," said Elson. "I'm used to hiking a lot, so it works in my favour."

Madden's time was around 6:05:04, more than 21 minutes ahead of her nearest female competition. The race for second came down to a sprint between Deb Russell and Michelle Roberts, with Russell coming out four seconds ahead.

"I was definitely prepared for a

technical course and I was pleasantly surprised by how runnable it was," said Madden. "That said, I spent 80 per cent of the way up walking."

Revelstoke's Sarah Newton won the women's master (40+) class, finished in 6:55:46. Jeff Krar won the men's masters race in 5:32:17.

The winning team was Thundergun Express, consisting of Chessa Adsit-Morris, Justin Hains and Laura Bestow, who completed the course in 4:56:12.

In other Revelstoke results, Rory Luxmoore and Travis Hunt were fifth and sixth respectively in the men's masters division, while Ann-Marie Gill finished seventh in the women's race.

The team of Anne-Marie Baribeau and Bart Jarmula finished eighth in the relay, while the Sole Sisters, consisting of Debbie Koerber, her daughter Tayla, and Maryjoy Marshall, finished third in the women's relay.

The course saw about 250 runners tackle a course that saw them ascend from the base of Revelstoke Mountain Resort to the the far reaches of the resort's cat skiing terrain in the alpine extending towards Ghost Peak and Mount Cartier. The course then returned back to the ski resort and up to the top of the Stoke Chair before the final, leg-pounding descent to the mid-mountain lodge.

They ran a mix of single track, logging road, and trailless alpine terrain. They passed through swamps, up and down steep slopes, and in and out of the

clouds. Many runners described it as a true mountain race, that challenged them to their fullest.

The first big challenge for the runners was the marsh at the bottom of Montana Bowl, where competitors had to gingerly step on and around rocks and logs and avoid getting bogged down in the mud.

The most difficult stretch was from the bottom of Kokanee Bowl to the top of the ridge leading south, where the run turned to a hike up a steep slope filled with loose dirt and rock, followed by a steep ridge climb before finally reaching the courses high point.

Afterwards, they had to run back down the same route.

"It was a real mountain course.

There was a lot of scree, a lot of off-trail, a lot of side hill. I wasn't expecting that and it was a real challenge," said third place men's finished Ed McCarthy. "I was thinking I would really deserve the beer at the end. It was a race where I thought finishing was a really good accomplishment."

A rainstorm early on compounded things for the runners, who had to contend with the wet weather, cool temperatures and slippery surfaces as they arrived in the alpine.

"The weather added to it to," said Elson. "There was pretty atmospheric mist coming in. Max was wearing his white jacket, so I couldn't see him up ahead. It was etherial."

Next year's race is scheduled for August 29.

The event is being organized by the North Columbia Environmental Society’s Local Food Initiative Group to promote local food and artists within our community.

There will be a diverse assortment of gardens located throughout our community as well as talented and creative artists. Some of the features in this year’s participating gardens are spectacular flower beds, backyard chickens, fig trees and accessible gardening. The Revelstoke Museum will be taking part in the event showcasing their wonderful heritage garden.

We are excited with our eclectic mix of artists such as pottery, cooking, painting and even hair design. Many of the artists will have art for sale.

The event is self-guided and encourages participants to walk or bike between garden venues.

Garden and Art tour maps will be available the day of the event starting at 12:30pm at the Revelstoke Community Garden located at the United Church. There is a suggested donation of $5 per person. Revelstoke’s Stu Dickson emerged as the winner of the Kootenay-Rockies Enduro mountain bike race in Golden last weekend. Dickson completed the two-day, eight-stage race in a time of 41:17 to finish 17 seconds ahead of David Harder to take the elite men’s title.

Enduro is a relatively new form of mountain bike racing that involves untimed climbs, followed by timed descents. Two other Revelstokians took part in the race. Andrew Danyluk finished eighth in the open men’s category, and Dan Nelson was 22nd.

Both the BC and Kootenay-Rockies enduro series have their final race in Revelstoke on Sept. 13–14.

Aquaducks swim strong in Salmon Arm Eliza McGuire Revelstoke Aquaducks

The Aquaducks competed in Salmon Arm this weekend after completing their Challenge Week, only to find the meet itself an extended challenge. Boasting six events, heats and finals, most swimmers found themselves racing an intimidating 14 times over two days. In true Aquaduck fashion, the kids swam their hearts out and rallied for an impressive third place overall, as well as a multitude of personal bests.

Stepping up with huge swims was Megan Hoshizaki, taking off enough time over the weekend where if added up she could have potentially lapped herself, earning herself a bronze aggregate for Division 2 girls. Madeline Hobgood also had a stand-out meet, winning all six individual events to snag herself a gold aggregate for Division 1 girls.

Beth Granstrom also won all her races this weekend and broke two meet records for the Division 4 girls in the 200m individual medley and the 100m backstroke on her way to a gold aggregate.

4 girls, and coach Emily Pfieffer swam up to a bronze aggregate despite only swimming four events. Winning her first aggregate of the season was Division 3 girl Maya McDowell, whose gutsy swims earned her a bronze.

On the boys side, personal bests were everywhere. Alex Jay broke 40 seconds for the first time in the 50m backstroke, helping him in the aggregate race to a silver for the Division 3 boys. Ryder Litke fought hard all weekend to win a bronze aggregate against some of the toughest competition in the province for Division 1 boys with multiple bests.

However, winning was not all that was positive about the meet.

For the first time Lizzy McDowell did all three flip-turns in her 100m freestyle, and William Hobgood swam his first 100m freestyle. Leif Winter swam at his first meet ever, and despite entering many young swimmers, Revelstoke had the least disqualifications of any team in attendance, both over-all and per capita, which is perhaps the most encouraging of everything heading into regionals two weeks from now in Kelowna, where the Aquaducks look to qualify more kids than ever for provincials in Kamloops.

RYSA U13 Boys win Gold at Shore N' Score Tournament Contributed

RYSA had three teams enter the Shuswap FC Shore N' Score Cup on July 12 and 13. It was blazing hot but all teams played extremely well and had a lot of fun.

The U13 boys team made it to the gold medal match and went on to beat the home team Shuswap FC 2-1 taking the gold.

The U11 boys team entered the bronze medal match and captured the bronze with a 2-1 take over Shuswap FC. The U11 girls team played in their first tournament in a U11/U12 division and also brought home the bronze, tying for third place with Kootenay South with a 5-2 win over William's Lake Congratulations to all the teams for a great tournament.
