Canada Day in the community of Barriere was a milestone. Dignitaries, residents and people who have connections to the area gathered to celebrate Barriere’s 100th birthday along with Canada’s 147th. There was speeches, presentations, music, old fashioned tea parties, hay rides, games, old time photography, refreshments and plenty of reminiscing. Original scheduled for June 15, the 100th was postponed to July 1 due to thunderstorm warnings at the time. Find more photos on page 13.

Bike kids love Legion barbecue If you’re a kid and you have just spent an hour or so riding in the annual Bike Rodeo, learning road safety and having a whole bunch of fun, it doesn’t get much better than when the Barriere Legion and RCMP start serving up free hamburgers, hot dogs, cupcakes and soft drinks.
