Principal’s Message On behalf of the staff at Carihi, I would like to congratulate this year’s graduating class on the achievements and accomplishments we have shared with you over the past three years at our school. We hope that you look back on your time at Carihi with fond memories of the experiences that have helped shape your paths, and continue to be the strong well-rounded individuals that have defined you as a group of students. We would like to thank you for the contributions you have made to our school community and to our community of Campbell River. It has been inspiring to be part of what you have accomplished in the areas of academics, fine arts, athletics, and citizenship. We have shared your successes in the classroom, your wins on the court and the field, your creativity on the stage, and your joy and enthusiasm for making our school an accepting and welcoming place. We are confident that this success will follow you into your future endeavours, and whether your future learning takes place at a post-secondary institution, on a job-site, within clubs and organizations that you will join, though sports and fine arts activities, or through families, friends, and elders, we also know that you are open to the fact that your learning has just begun. As you leave behind the structure and environment that thirteen years of formal schooling has provided, you will undoubtedly begin to chart your own course. We hope that you continue to seek your passions and pursue them and look forward to hearing about your future accomplishments. Congratulations and best wishes for the future. – Sean Toal
Valedictorian’s Message When I was chosen to be valedictorian, my first thoughts were, “this is pretty cool I guess.” After thinking about it for a while I realized that it’s actually a pretty big deal. So I was like, “Alright Russell, let’s do a good job with this thing.” I am going to be representing a large and diverse grad class, and am up for the task. If there are two things I’m good at, it’s representing diverse grad classes and delivering memorable speeches. So this has really all fallen into place. In all seriousness, this is very important to me and I consider it a great honour. I’m very thankful to have been chosen to be the voice of the class, and I promise everybody that I will live up to expectations. – Russell Demerse
To the graduates of 2014, go our very best wishes for health, happiness and success both today and in the future.

Principal’s Message On behalf of all the staff of Timberline we would like to extend heartfelt congratulations to our graduates for reaching this important Milestone. We recognize that it takes a community and we hope that for our students this special time will be celebrated with the many people involved in helping our graduates in their journey. Well done Grad class of 2014! While we celebrate the collective success of this special group it is important to recognize the diversity of experiences that these graduates represent. Many have overcome significant challenges and obstacles in order to make it to this moment of celebration, students, who have persevered through loss, tragedy, sickness and difficult personal circumstances. We are impressed by your resilience and are excited to share the celebration of your graduation with you. We also have many students who have excelled and are the recipients of numerous scholarships, bursaries and awards. Many of whom have participated in clubs, sports teams, volunteers, and active citizens both at school and in the community. This moment has been brought about by years of effort and support, not only by teachers and support staff at all levels but by family and the larger community. It is our hope that you will endeavour to find ways to give back to the community that has so generously supported you. Our hope is that your journey through school, particularly your last three years at Timberline Secondary will form a foundation that will allow you to successfully pursue your next adventures. Individually and collectively your future is full of possibility and we wish you every success and happiness. Congratulations from all of us at Timberline. – Dr. Jeremy Morrow, Principal Timberline Secondary

Valedictorian’s Message After three years, hundreds of assignments and countless mornings, we have reached the end of our time here are Timberline. We first entered the building not knowing what knowledge and which experiences awaited us, nor did we anticipate the strong bonds that would form between us. Timberline’s mission statement is that we are “a spirited, inclusive community which focuses on excellence in learning and preparation of students for the future within a caring, innovative and inviting school culture.” This year’s grad class took that motto to heart by exemplifying each and every aspect of it in new, innovative ways. For example Timberline Grad 2014 is the highest academically ranked graduating class in the last ten years. Not too shabby, eh? In fact, Timberline’s Grad class was so fabulous this year that they voted in not one but two valedictorians, in order to accurately represent their dedication to greatness. We are both immensely proud to be representing our peers at the commencement ceremony, helping to write the next chapter of the book none of us should ever want to put down. The two of us look forward to meeting up with classmates in the future, no longer as students but as astronauts, firefighters, artists, musicians, politicians and global activists. Congratulations Grad 2014! – Paige and Phill

Principal’s Message On behalf of the staff and students at Robron Centre and School District 72 I would like to congratulate the Robron Centre Class of 2014! Learners at Robron Centre come to the centre for a variety of reasons and at various stages of their life and learning journey. Whatever the stage of life, and whatever their individual life stories, these students have fulfilled their dream of graduating. This year 39 learners have realized this dream at Robron Centre. Whether through attending an Elm alternate program, eBlend home and distance learning or Continuing Education, our students have persevered and through hard work and determination have achieved this significant milestone. At Robron Centre staff and students work together to ensure that: Respectful relationships are the foundation of everything we do; That learners’ unique learning styles, prior knowledge, life experiences and abilities are honoured. Programs are created using these strengths and this results in learners having the skills and knowledge necessary to continue the next phase of their learning and life journey. We wish our learners all the best in their future journeys and are confident that they will succeed. Greg Johnson, District Principal of Aboriginal Education and Alternate Programs at Robron Centre
Valedictorian’s Message I am proud to be a graduate of Robron Centre. The students in this school are diverse and all of them have the right to learn, at their own pace and in their own style. The teachers, like my teacher Ms. Merkel, have helped them achieve their goals. Robron Centre is a welcoming place filled with great students. All students are supported and guided – pushed when they need it- to be successful and graduate. I enjoyed getting to know the staff and my other classmates. I got to take part in many great laughter-filled experiences such as canoeing at the lake. The way that Robron helped connect me to the community was through the connection of working with people one on one and learning compassionate people skills. I will miss the gatherings we all spent in the common area, getting to know each other better and making new friends. I wish to congratulate all the grads on achieving their goal of graduating and continuing on in whatever they wish to do! Conrad Rousselle – 2014 Graduating Class

Heartfelt congratulations to the class of 2014! Principal’s Message It’s Time! It’s time for an ending. As we gather to congratulate our graduates, we also commemorate an ending: the ending of their common education. The graduates have finished their graduation requirements, their grad transitions project, and their classes. The time has come to say goodbye to their classrooms, teachers, classmates, and familiar routines. As the Apostle Paul said, “When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became [an adult], I put away childish things.” It is now also time to say good-bye to your childhood. It’s time for a transition. The stage between child and adult is becoming increasingly difficult. The next few years are a time when you are no longer children, but not yet adults. Your actual status is still in flux. Navigating this stage requires patience, understanding, wisdom, and flexibility. And yet, these are typically the very traits that are still in development. We can be encouraged by Jesus’ words, “and lo, I am with you always,” as we work through this transition; we are not alone, regardless of the circumstances. It’s time for a new beginning. You have achieved your first major milestone: high school graduation. But it is not the last, nor even the most important, milestone. You are now taking the first steps that will lead to you making your mark in this world. As your feet find that path, may you echo the words of the Apostle Paul,“but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Congratulations, graduates, as you leave the comforts and security of what you have known and venture forth into your (still unknown) future. – Christian Klaue
Valedictorian’s Message Being a student at this school for a grand total of thirteen years has been an amazing personal journey, but the celebration of graduation is not all about me. It’s about each and every one of us fifteen graduates completing the goal that has been set before us, only to establish an even greater goal. Whether that be acquiring a degree in a particular field of study, or becoming a supportive and responsible parent, or whatever other ambition (or combination of ambitions) we may have. As a part of this class, I do not hesitate to write that we will be able to fulfill all of what we strive for in our lives, and that we will make a positive difference in the lives of others. Looking at my fellow classmates individually, I see people who possess invaluable character traits: being put under the microscope as Christians and impressing those who scrutinize them, being gifted with spectacular God-given talents (athleticism, artistic ability, musical dexterity, and so forth) and admirably showcasing them, and finally, being able to come together as a collective and embrace one another, showcasing a fantastic bond and a wonderful sense of camaraderie. I am so blessed to stand alongside these people and graduate with them, and I truly believe that we will be successful. – Garth Delmar
“Learn from the past, set vivid, detailed goals for the future, and live in the only moment of time over which you have any control: now.” Denis Waitley
