The Kimberley Fire Department was on the scene of a fire in the scrap pile of Columbia Recycle late Saturday morning. The fire sent huge plumes of smoke over Marysville, causing the closure of Highway 95A for a short time. There was no word on the cause of the fire at press time.

No boil In-school deer education program begins water notice The City of Kimberley is not under a boil water advisory as stated in last Thursday’s headline. The headline was incorrect. The City is under a Water Quality Advisory. An Advisory is not a boil water notice. An Advisory follows Interior Health recommendations that children, the elderly and persons with weakened immune systems drink boiled water when turbidity levels are above 1 NTU.

City Council decided not to commit any further funds to deer management this year, they have set aside some funds for education. Education is one of the key parts of the City’s deer manage-

ment strategy as set out by the Urban Deer Committee. The target group for the current education program is pre-school through Grade 3. Patty Kolesnichenko was delivering the City’s message on deer

to elementary school children last week and continues this week. “I’ve been to Marysville and Lindsay Park and will be going back to Lindsay Park and the Kimberley Independent School this week,” she said. “We

are covering kindergarten to Grade 3 and KIS has a preschool group I’ll talk to as well.” Kolesnichenko says that the K to 3 age students are the target group. See DEER, page 4
