Couple pleads guilty to home invasions Ability to buy gifts for daughter cited as reason for crime SALLY MACDONALD Townsman Staff

A husband and wife sentenced Thursday for two Cranbrook home invasions told the court they did it so they could afford to buy their daughter Christmas gifts. Megan Wynter Sands, 28, and Terrence Albert Allan, 25, pleaded guilty this week in Cranbrook Provincial Court for carrying out two home invasions here last December. They are two of four people charged in connection with those incidents. The co-accused are Andrew Monnette and Jay Hills. Both men are yet to enter pleas in the case. As a result, the circumstances of the home invasions can’t be published as it may interfere with a fair trial for the co-accused. See GUILTY, page 3

You’re never too young to learn how to skate. It was a family affair at the Kimberley Skate Park on Sunday as the community celebrated Bob McWhinnie Day. See more from McWhinnie Day this week in the Bulletin.

Approximately 65 of B.C.’s mayors met in Kimberley and Cranbrook last week for the B.C. Mayors’ Caucus. The caucus was founded three years ago to help mayors find a collective voice with which to communicate with the provincial government. At its inception the Caucus came up with eight focus points, all of which were reaffirmed at this meeting. Those include, the creation of a Premier’s Roundtable with the BC Mayors’ Caucus to discuss public policy changes that affect local government budgets and delivery of services; See MAYORS page 3
