Free concerts, Iron Legs, Masters ski racing in the lead up to Spring Splash C AROLYN GR ANT editor@dailybulletin.ca

We are into the last two weeks of the ski season at Kimberley Alpine Resort and they will be busy ones. There are all kinds of events and

parties happening on the hill and the community is invited to take part in all of them. First on the menu this week is the Canadian Alpine Masters Championships. Competitors, aged 18 and up will arrive Wednesday. Racing begins Thursday and goes until Sunday. Masters ski for the love of the sport and the oldest female competing is 79 and the oldest male, 78. If that doesn’t inspire you, what will? See much more on the Mas-

ters on page 5 in today’s Bulletin. If you’re up to the Resort this weekend to watch races or get in some skiing, catch a free concert in the plaza beer garden. Willhorse from Golden will be playing both Saturday and Sunday. Also on Saturday, March 29, it’s the Iron Legs Quadrathlon where the fittest among us cycle, ski and run their way to the championship. Entries are still being taken for the Iron Legs. You can sign up at skikimberley.com or at guest ser-

vices. The final weekend is the big one with Spring Splash. Scheduled to play in the Resort plaza beer garden over the weekend are the Good Ol’ Goats and the Hollers, arguably the two most popular acts in the area. Joining them will be Yukon Blonde. The Good Ol’ Goats play both days, Yukon Blonde on Saturday, April 5 and the Hollers on Sunday, April 6. If it’s Spring Splash it is of course

time to throw on a costume and try your luck at the splash pond on Saturday. The splash pond always draws a huge crowd and the atmosphere in the plaza can’t be beat. There will also be a snow volleyball tournament, family slalom races on Saturday and the traditional Dummy Downhill on Sunday. You should be preparing your dummies now. Stay tuned to the Bulletin for Spring Splash updates.
