In the gold medal game, the Lions faced pre-tournament favourite Fraser Valley Penguins (undefeated in roundrobin play). Coached by Richmond's Al Wozney, the Penguins were a formidable opponent for the Lions and jumped out to an early 3-0 lead but the Lions proved relentless in the comeback win.

Richmond Ravens Tony Lindsay. The Lions were one of eight zone teams competing from throughout the province, and, as one of the smaller zones, was not expected to medal. In fact, the zone last won a medal in 2000. The Lions opened the tournament with a 1-0 shootout loss to Vancouver-Squamish. The team was outstanding in the game, outshooting the opponent 37-12, but they were unable to beat Alex Gulstene, considered one of the top goalies in Western Canada. They then topped North West 6-1 with Abo scoring twice and Jenna Ehling strong in net. On the same day, Okanagan defeated Vancouver-Squamish 3-2,

"Dare to be Great," coach Tony Lindsay told the Fraser River Delta girls' hockey team prior to the recent BC Winter Games in Mission. They were, and the underdogs left Mission silver medalists. The U16 hockey team consisted of the top female players from Richmond, Delta and Burnaby and included 11 players from the Richmond Ravens: Kirsten Abo, Mahara Gibson-Zeinhoun, Kyra Kuramoto, Karina Lannard, Kiki Linders, Hannah Shihundu, Nicole Wong, Hannah Green, Montana Lewis, Stephanie Moy, and Jenna Ehling.
