Yes, it’s possible to stay healthy over the holidays It’s the same every year: during all the seasonal festivities, you’re so busy that you finish the holidays feeling exhausted and dispirited. Before deciding that you hate this time of year, why not consider a few tricks that can help you keep feeling energized and ready to return to routine in January.

FOUR TIPS FOR A MERRY HOLIDAY 1. Plan ahead instead of stressing out.

If you’re hosting family or friends during the holidays, draw up a plan of action ahead of time.

Decide what has to be done and use a calendar to

schedule a few tasks that can be done in advance.

Above all, avoid leaving everything until the last minute. Ask your family for help or hire a specialized cleaning or catering company if it’s too big a job to tackle.

2. Take proper care of yourself. Use the down time between parties to rest and get some exercise. Get out in the fresh air, skate, ski, go to the gym, or treat yourself to a massage.

3. Think about health and cold prevention.

Not only does December mean more frequent parties and gatherings, but it’s flu season, as well.

Prevent viruses from spreading by following

these simple rules (that many people ignore): a. Wash your hands often with soap and hot water, especially after going to the toilet and before cooking. b. Cough into your arm, not into your hand. c. Stay at home if you’re sick.

4. Avoid overdoing it. Learn to decline some of the invitations that are being offered to you. Look at your agenda and calculate honestly whether you’re up to the event or not. Remind yourself that you have the right to say you’re tired and need to rest.
