Welcome To Riverboat Days 2013 Sound and light--fireworks filling the sky and reflecting off the Skeena River at Ferry Island at twilight. High mountains in the distance in silhouette. It is one of those moments that remind us why we live here. Riverboat Days is the time we celebrate this place. It is the peak of summer. Time to get out and have fun, to gather friends and family, to explore, to learn more about the history and culture of Terrace and area. Riverboat Days offers so much: from fast and loud auto racing, to music in the park, to heritage themed interpretive walks, to sports tournaments, to sampling food of many styles. Ten days of excitement; over 50 events from which to choose. The Legion Parade, Concerts in the Park and Fireworks over Ferry Island are the guaranteed crowd-pleasers of Riverboat Days. But every year a sprinkling of new events adds even more vitality to Riverboat Days. This year Juno award winner Gary Fjellgaard plays at Heritage Park, the library is offering a suite of programs to learn more about Terrace history, there is a horseshoe tournament to be played on the bench and even an introduction to roller derby at the Terrace Sportsplex. Concerts in the Park is two days of the best musicians in the northwest—this year with a twist in selecting the opening acts and choice of the headliners. Three top-class tribute rock bands take the stage on Saturday, August 3. But Riverboat Days does not happen by chance. It is the result of dedicated work of individuals, non-profit organizations, the business community, First Nation and Local governments organizing and supporting each event. And getting the word out is aided immeasurably by the enthusiastic support of local media. For this, the Riverboat Days Society is especially grateful. We also want to acknowledge the financial contributions made to the Society this year by Imperial Metals and BC Hydro. Have a safe and fun Riverboat Days 2013!
