Cummins steps down B.C. Conservative Party leader John Cummins announced last week he is leaving politics. Cummins delivered a letter of resignation to the party’s executive, stepping away from a position he’s held for the past two years. During that time, he rebuilt the B.C. Conservatives, who were registered at about 20 per cent in
opinion polls. But on election day, the party ended up with less than five per cent of the vote. Cummins also came in third in the Langley riding, won by Liberal MLA Mary Polak. “The last two years have been pretty intense,” he told Black Press. “There has been a lot of travel and everything else came sec-
ond (to politics).” The South Langley resident has been involved in politics for 24 years. He plans to keep living in Langley, and hopes to get more involved with the community, spend time with family and friends, and get around to various projects on his property.
