Chemicals, not oil, riskiest rail cargo Delta Mayor Lois Jackson says the Quebec rail disaster that destroyed much of the Quebec town of Lac Megantic is a “wake-up call” on rail safety and for the federal government to ensure there’s adequate regulation and enforcement. Freak horse mishap leads to tragedy A Ladner woman died in a tragic horse riding last Wednesday ( July 3) after she was thrown from her horse. Roseann May Guerin, 43, was riding with her 18-year-old daughter Megan Rogers around 8 p.m. in the 3,600-block of 34th Street when the mother’s horse was spooked by a dog—now believed to be the family’s dog. ❙ See story, P.3
