WHAT IS THIS? Kamloops This Week is 25 years old and we’re celebrating with this special edition. In it, you will find recollections from reporters and other KTW staffers about some of the biggest stories to have hit the Tournament Capital since the first issue of the paper rolled off the presses on Aug. 28, 1988 — everything from the Bushman of the Shuswap to the tragic 1989 crash that left five dead on Columbia Street to the Kamloops Blazers remarkable runs to three Memorial Cups in the early 1990s, and plenty more. We hope you enjoy looking back at these stories — points in time that shaped the Kamloops we call home today — as much as we enjoyed putting this edition together.
THEN AND NOW We’ve combed the dusty archives at Kamloops This Week to find some of the more interesting ads, stories and photos from years gone by to show how much things have changed. Gas for $0.48 per litre? A rear-projection TV for $3,500? Brand-new homes for less than $90,000? Those stories, and more, are inside. You better read them because we all have dust all over our hands and desks.
25 YEARS OF COMMUNITY Inside, you’ll find some of KTW’s most memorable front pages from the past two-anda-half decades, as well as plenty of anecdotes from the people who have put these papers together over the years.
