Free concerts and movies, great Okanagan musicians, beautiful Lake Country parks—they all come together Saturday nights in July and August, thanks to the Lake Country Open Air Performance Society. LC Open Air has announced the dates and performer lineup for its sixth summer concert series, starting with a Canada Day celebration at Beasley Park on Monday, July 1. The concerts feature a variety of local musicians, performers and artisans at various parks throughout Lake Country. “We are very excited to be celebrating our sixth anniversary of free concerts and movies in Lake Country this summer,” said Amber Hugo, Lake Country Open Air Performance Society Cofounder. “The crowds keep getting bigger and more diverse; and the talent more exciting each year.” The concerts begin Monday, July 1 at 5:15 p.m. with Megan Lauridsen and Chantelle Betuzzi from Okanagan Kids Have Tal-
ent; and then Talented Kids performers Taylor Hickson, Ciara Meyers and Jesse Mast. Co-winners of Lake County Open Mic Has Talent! contest. The Public House Band plays at 8:15 p.m. The evening rounds out with a Moviein-the-Park: Jack the Giant Slayer (PG-13) at 10 p.m. The regular concert series begins July 6 and runs every Saturday to Aug. 31, except Aug. 17 when the District of Lake Country’s Summer Jam event takes place at Swalwell Park. Among the many talented performers to provide entertainment on the LC Open Air program this summer are Calum Hughes, A.S.H., Kath & The Tomcats, 2Step Closer and Cod Gone Wild. Another double-feature Movie-in-the-Park with live music will wrap up the season on Aug. 31 at Okanagan Centre Park. “We really appreciate all of the generous sponsors, talented performers, and the volunteers and board members for all their hard

work,” said Grant Lawrence, Lake Country Open Air Performance Society co-founder. “Without all of the excellent support we receive from such committed individuals, it would not be possible to offer a full line up each year. This year we are looking at investing in a larger screen than the one we have been renting in previous years, so that should make a difference on the evenings we show a Movie-inthe-Park as well. We really want everyone to enjoy each show!” All concerts are free of charge and families are welcome. People are reminded to bring a chair or blanket for seating, and picnics are welcome too. Check www.lcopenair.com for more information and for movie titles. As a non-profit organization, the society is always looking for volunteers, sponsors and individual patrons who are interested in supporting the concert series. The website also has more information on the Society and how everyone can help.
