Teresa Christison calls the 1970 Camaro she has owned for 27 years Miss Behavin’.
Twin Camaro hot rods owned by Victoria husband and wife, Teresa Christison and Rick Long.
Teresa Christison is a Court Services justice data quality analyst in Victoria who has loved ‘pretty and fast’ cars since she was a little girl. She avoided make believe tea parties in ALYN EDWARDS favour of playing in the CLASSIC dirt with toy cars. Her RIDES first love affair with Corvettes lasted until her parents bought one when she was 17 and she wasn’t allowed to drive it. The following year, she was standing with a group of high school friends when a beautiful yellow 1970 Camaro rolled by with a for sale sign on it. She was off and running when the car pulled into a nearby service station. “I pummeled the owner with questions: How much is it? What’s under the hood? Is it an automatic or stick?” She definitely wanted the optional four speed transmission and the car had a 327 cubic inch V8 engine. The asking price was $3,000. “I knew I had to convince my dad to let me have it,” she recalls of her excitement 27 years ago. When Teresa and her father went to test drive the car, he said: “No way. It has too much power.” In the afternoon, five days before Christmas 1986, she and her mother went for another test drive. A trip to the bank and the insurance
company finalized the purchase. After 10 years of fun with the car, Teresa decided on a complete restoration. She was beside herself with excitement when she picked the car up after six months in the body shop. The painter said: “If you didn’t get noticed before, you sure will now,” referring to the colour change to Carnival Orange. “I was even more excited in the following months when I won The aggressive front of the customized 1970 first prize for second generation & ‘71 Camaros owned by Victoria’s Teresa Camaros out of 18 cars at my first Christison and Rick Long. show in Vancouver,” she recalls.
