For M&M Meat Shops franchisees across Canada, this will be the 25th annual fundraising barbecue for the CCFC, raising $23 million over that time for research efforts to find the cause and cure to Inflammatory Bowel Disease that afflicts more than 230,000 Canadians. More than 430 stores took part last year. Kelowna M&M Meat Shops franchisee Brett Irving says the national goal this year is to raise $1.3 million from the event.

Becker said her goal was to open a fashion store that had a constantly revolving selection of new items from week to week. “We don’t buy seasonally,” Becker explained. “We wanted to set ourselves apart from other retailers across Canada. We are constantly buying new stock, as opposed to buying items for the season that you continually see in a given store until the season changes. “It’s a lot more work to do it that way, which is why not many people take it on, but I wanted to put the energy into it and it's turned out to be the ticket to our success.” While now living in Kelowna, Becker said modern technology has allowed her to keep in constant contact with
