Doug has another surprise that he created in his home shop: a 1932 Ford tudor sedan that is also powered by a Chrysler hemi engine. The car is so perfect that it was voted the Goodguys Rod & Custom Association hot rod of the year in 2005. Doug and Dan grew up in the Newton area of Surrey, not far from Cloverdale where Doug has his home and shop. Their father was a machinist and they gravitated to the metal shop in school. Doug started building a race car with a small English-built 1949 Anglia car. The car hobby took off from there with twins building hot rod after hot rod. “We see each every day,” says Dan, a retired sheet metal fabricator. Doug jumps in to say it’s like they have the same brain. They build the same type of cars, travel to shows together and build their cars together. They have legions of American hot rodder

Doug and Dan MacLanders are not hard to spot at hot rod shows. They are identical twins who always seem to have the same type of hot rods.
