The Greenwood Recreation Commission sponsored the event. They partnered with local professional carver Jim Harris who was available to give tips on sculpting with snow. The event gave folks an opportunity to get some first-rate instruction just in time for the snow sculpting competitions this weekend as

the ninth annual Winterfest comes to town. Oliver resident Valerie Harkness drove over to the Boundary with her 16-year-old daughter to enjoy Family Day here. “I knew there would be something for families here in Greenwood,” she said as she worked on her heart-shaped snow creation that celebrated both Family Day and Valentine’s Day. Hot dogs, hamburgers and hot chocolate were available at no charge and a fire pit gave everyone a chance to warm up when necessary.
