The regular meeting of Greenwood City Council on Nov. 26 took nearly four hours to get through and by the time it was over some chinks in council solidarity had been given a very public face. The meeting began with Councillor Barry Noll putting forward an addition to the agenda: a review of council appointments. This issue was last looked at one year ago at council’s inaugural meeting. Once the item came up on the agenda, Noll said he had two reasons for bringing it up. The first is he is currently sitting on two committees that each meet on the third Thursday of the month. The second is that said he wanted to represent the city on the regional district for the next year. The regional district also meets on that same day. However, Mayor Nipper Kettle said he had not come to the meeting that evening ready to make those appointments. He said he had tried to set up a meeting with council prior to the public council meeting, but was unable to because of conflicting schedules. Kettle also reminded council last year it had passed a motion stating the regional district director position would be filled by the mayor. “The mayor is the spokesperson for the community,” he said. “Last year I was appointed for a
