Appeal denied Drunk driver's fate 'inconsequential,' says Laurel Middelaer, toddler's mother TrAcy hoLMes BlAck Press

T

wo years after launching an appeal of her impaired and dangerous-driving convictions, Carol Ann Berner was put in jail to begin serving her sentence for causing the death of toddler Alexa Middelaer.

But her incarceration this week was short.

Hours after B.C. Court of Appeal Justice Kathryn Neilson announced the decision to dismiss Berner's appeal, the 60-year-old – who had been free on bail pending the decision – was granted release pending her appeal of her sentence.

The date of that hearing is expected to be determined later this week, Crown John Gordon said. He noted that appeal court Justice Catherine Ryan has indicated she wants it heard before the end of March.

The dismissal of Berner's convictions appeal was heard in Vancouver chambers Tuesday (Nov. 20).

Gordon said outside court that he was not surprised the appeal was dismissed.

"This is good," Gordon told Black Press. "All of the convictions were upheld."

In July 2010, Berner was found guilty of two counts of dangerous driving causing death and bodily harm and two counts of

impaired driving causing death and bodily harm, after losing control of her car on a Ladner street in May 2008, striking and killing Alexa.

The four-year-old had been feeding a horse at the side of the road with her aunt, Daphne Johanson, who was seriously injured in the collision.

Berner was sentenced to 2½ years in prison and a five-year driving ban.

Her appeal was heard on Nov. 10, 2011. At that time, Berner's lawyer David Tarnow asked Neilson and Justices Catherine Ryan and Elizabeth Bennett to acquit his client or call for a new trial, arguing that the trial judge had erred on several points of law in convicting Berner.

This morning, Johanson – who still has mobility issues as a result of the injuries she suffered – was in attendance as Neilson released the 41-page judgment that explains the dismissal.

Alexa's mother, Laurel Middelaer, was delayed by heavy traffic, arriving shortly after the few seconds it took to announce the decision. Alexa's father, Michael, was unable to attend.

Learning that the convictions had been upheld, Alexa's mother – who is head of Southridge Junior School – expressed relief.

"We really didn't know. We had a lot of angst leading up to this moment," she told media

outside court, referring to the length of time it took to receive a decision.

"It's a good day for our family."

Asked her feelings on Berner's pending sentencing appeal, Middelaer said the penalty is not the family's focus.

"It's not about Ms. Berner.

We've elevated beyond that," she said. "What happens to Ms. Berner is inconsequential to us."

More important is the message that the courts are sending in such cases, she said.

"There are some real encouraging signs," she said, citing a reduction in the number of fatalities on the road.

"But why can't we do better?"

Jason Tarnow – who, with his father, David, represented Berner through her trial and appeal – told Black Press that while he had been surprised at the trial's outcome, he "wasn't holding (his) breath" that the appeal would be successful.

Tarnow noted the appeal judges did agree with certain aspects that defence had put forward, including that Berner had effectively been detained when she was questioned by a police officer in the back of a patrol car at the crash scene.

"The detention was not one of short duration," Ryan writes.

"Thus Ms. Berner ought to have been advised of her right to counsel… before her tape-

Regardless, the court agreed the statement she gave, regarding consuming two glasses of wine more than three hours prior, was admissible.

Tarnow also pointed to the fact that the judges described destruction of Berner's vehicle before she was charged as "disturbing."

At the same time, Ryan notes she agrees with the trial judge's finding that Berner's defence was not prejudiced by the move.

"At least the Court of Appeal gave it some acknowledgment," Tarnow said.

"To obtain a judicial stay of proceedings in any trial, the threshold, it's really, really high.

I thought we had met it, but obviously, the Court of Appeal, while they find it disturbing, didn't feel that it met that threshold."

The Crown had submitted that Berner had been agreeable to being put in the police car; that the issue of the destroyed car had minimal impact at trial; and, that there was no question that Berner was guilty of dangerous driving.

"She didn't even attempt to slow the vehicle down until it was far, far, far too late," Gordon said at the 2011 hearing.

In the judgment, Ryan describes Berner's driving on the date of the crash as "significantly different from her usual conduct," and that evidence presented at trial "proves beyond a reasonable doubt that Ms. Berner's ability to drive was impaired by alcohol."

While TransLink asks the public about its plan to selectively cut bus service on some routes, the province is launching its own consultations – on the premier's recent promise to replace the George Massey Tunnel.

Transportation ministry officials will seek public comment on a new Highway 99 crossing of the Fraser River at five open houses in early December in Delta, Richmond, and Surrey.

The existing tunnel has 10 to 15 years of useful life left before major components must be completely replaced, Transportation Minister Mary Polak said.

And since it takes about a decade to plan and build such a project, preliminary work must start now.

"One thing is very clear to us – the status quo is not an option," Polak said.

A short list of potential replacement options is to be drawn up ahead of more public meetings in the new year.

It's not yet clear if the new span would be a bridge or a tunnel – or whether it will be tolled.

The Delta open house is set for Dec. 1 at the Delta Town and Country Inn (6005 Hwy. 17) from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. (presentation at noon).

TransLink, meanwhile, is consulting on its plans to further "optimize" service by cutting frequency at some times on some routes in order to boost it on others, where it believes it can serve more riders and pull in more revenue.

There will be winners and losers, depending on where and when passengers travel, and routes across the region are affected.

He says road and bridge projects are routinely justified by politicians on the basis they save motorists time and therefore money by relieving congestion.

gers waiting longer, arguably costing them and the economy money.

"Time is treated completely differently," he said, adding transit delays should also be counted as a cost, and not just as a way of saving money.

Peter Ladner, part of the Get On Board coalition for transit funding, also calls it a funding double standard that puts road work ahead of transit.

"Where's the consultation on sustainable funding for transit?" he asked.

"Surely that has to come first."

Dreams come true Charity helps to send deserving kids to a whirlwind tour of Disneyland

It's every little one's dream to visit Disneyland, but for some children living with illness or poverty it's one that is difficult for parents to fulfill.

That's where the charity Dreams Take Flight comes in, a national nonprofit organization that takes children to Disneyland and Disneyworld for one day.

The charity began 20 years ago consisting of Air Canada employees and has since grown to provide the tripof-a-lifetime once a year to physically, mentally or socially challenged children.

TsawwasAdrian sen's Melissa MacNair Hance, president of Dreams Ta ke Fl ig ht ' s Vancouver chapter, took the trip Oct. 16 with 125 Lower Mainland children. They d r aw f ro m a p o ol of children selected from B.C. Children's Oncology ward (cancer), the B.C. Down Syndrome Society, the Deaf and Blind Association of B.C., and children from low-income schools throughout the Lower Mainland.

"A lot of children have never been alone before, let alone on a plane," says Hance.

The kids arrive at the YVR aircraft hanger at the crack of dawn and split into 25 groups of five children. They're given a full outfit so team leaders and escorts can easily keep track of them throughout the day.

After a two and a half hour flight, they arrive in Los Angeles at 8:30 a.m., greeted by members of the LA police and fire departments, and the Transportation Safety Authority choir.

Five coach buses are standing by to transport them to Disneyland and their world famous amusement rides.

"We get special treatment from Disney so we don't have to wait in any lines," explains Hance.

After some wild rides, they arrange for the "Fab Five" of Donald, Goofy, Mickey, Minnie and Pluto to come and meet the kids while they're eating lunch .

Then it's off to the rides again before everybody meets back at 5 p.m., where they are given 30 Disney dollars to go on a shopping spree.

"The kids we get are so unselfish and deserving," says Hance. "They go out buying for their families or friends."

When they finally return back to the plane, each kid gets a goodie bag from Mattel and a fleece blanket. Within 10 minutes on the plane, everyone is fast asleep.

"That's when I know we're going home. The plane is quiet," chuckles Hance.

The experience can make a huge impression on these youngsters.

At a recent sponsor appreciation night in Richmond, one child who took the trip wanted to give back.

In lieu of presents for her eighth birthday, Bhavyn Sandhu from Surrey asked for money and then donated all $220 to Dreams Take Flight.

"She wanted another kid to enjoy the kind of day she had.

"The first few years of being involved I knew we were doing a good thing but I was able to remain emotionally in control," says Hance.

After giving birth to her son in 2010 she says she realizes even more how much it means to make a child happy.

Hance says the trip is only made possible by the donation of the Boeing 767 for the day by Air Canada, $40,000 worth of fuel from Chevron, and numerous other sponsors.

The payoff is worth it.

"Being able to bring smiles to 125 children and giving them the opportunity of a lifetime they wouldn't ordinarily have is wonderful," says Hance.

If there was a disaster in South Delta, such as a tsunami or an earthquake, and people were displaced from their homes, where would they eat?

That was a question the Tsawwassen Boundary Bay Lions Club asked Delta council prior to moving ahead with their $75,000 Streetside Community Kitchen project.

"When we sat down and started talking about this we were concerned about people who might be displaced by an emergency," explained Roger Lasell, club member and chairperson of the food trailer project.

The biggest issue with a major emergency like an earthquake is that buildings could become unstable and unsuitable to service food to people, said Lasell.

The solution is this 26-foot-long full-service mobile kitchen, capable of running for 28 hours on its fuel supply, and can be hitched up to any one-ton pickup truck.

"We wanted to make sure that if we build this, the Corporation would be supportive of the idea," said Lasell, before adding the club did not ask for any money.

The project was fully funded by corporate sponsors and donations, including $7,000 of equipment from BC Ferries, and $5,000 from the Delta Agricultural Society.

It took two and a half years in design and con-

struction, but Lasell said the biggest challenge was in finding a suitable trailer to house the kitchen.

The trailer can hold 80 gallons of water, with an instant hot water system, 36-inch grill, 24-inch char, two deep friers, and

all the amenities of a full service kitchen.

"Up to eight people can be in there dealing with cooking, dealing with serving, there's lots of room," says Lasell.

The goal now is to use the mobile kitchen at ser-

vice clubs or corporate events in order to demonstrate its usefulness and receive donations for the Tsawwassen Boundary Bay Lions Club.

Driving it home ICBC and Operation Red Nose want people to remember road safety this holiday season ADRIAN MACNAIR REPORTER

The rule is pretty simple. If you're going to drink, don't drive.

But if you drove to that Christmas party, there's still a way you and your car can both get home safely.

Operation Red Nose (ORN), a Canada-wide volunteer-run program aimed at eliminating drunk driving during the holidays, begins Nov. 30 and runs December 1, 7, 8, 14, 15, 21, 22 and on New Year's Eve. Karon Trenaman, a regional ICBC representative for road safety, says the program is non-judgmental and safe.

"They could be choosing to use the service because they're impaired with alcohol, they're fatigued, or they're just uncomfortable with road conditions.

There's no questions asked as to why they need the program."

ICBC underwrites all the insurance on volunteer and client vehicles so that it not only encourages people to use the service, it protects them from any liability.

Donations to ORN are encouraged but not required. In this case, donations go to support Ladner-based Delta Gymnastics.

If you want to drive home yourself, or even better, volunteer for ORN, Trenaman has a yummy "mocktail" that will let people drink and be merry, without worrying about being a danger on the road.

"With New Year's Eve, we don't really get calls until midnight," says Trenaman. "So, if people wanted to, they could have mocktails during the festivities and then come join us in helping get people home."

only write and express their thanks but also come down early on a cold, cold morning to personally hand out these tokens of thanks to us.

These young folk, some only knee high, were as one veteran said: "This is what me and my pals were fighting for and warms me to know that our youngest generations today appreciate and understand what we did. God Bless Them, God Bless Them."

I know folk think that Remembrance Day is a day we think of for those that fought and killed but I, too, think each day of those that

died here in B.C. in training bases such as Boundary Bay and Abbotsford. I'd also like to thank the people who came and lined the streets.

Supporting small business at Christmas it’s that time of year again. the mall parking lots are getting busier.

Shoppers are moving with a little more pace in their step, glimmers of desperation flash in their eyes. it’s Christmas shopping season.

For the next few weeks, the familiar seasonal melodies being broadcast over store sound systems will be accompanied by the serious musings of retail analysts forecasting a holiday boon or dour sales, depending on the mood and confidence of shoppers of course. it’s frenetic. it’s not always fun.

But there is another way. every community has local shopping districts populated mostly by independent retailers, like ladner Village and along 56 Street and 12 Avenue in tsawwassen. Most of those retailers don’t have the floor space and broad selection of the chain and department stores.

But they do have a passion for the products they sell, an intimate knowledge of their customers. Most have a stake in the community; they live as well as work there. And what they may lack in volume and variety, they more than make up for with uniqueness of their offerings and personal service.

Helping women Simple pink razor 'brought a young girl to tears' AdriAn MacNair reporter

For women living in shelters while they escape from an abusive situation or relationship, the simple pleasures most people take for granted can be hard to come by.

Volunteer Pindi Mann of Ladner says the goal of Women Helping Women is simple. To give the gift of making women feel more like themselves during a rough time in their lives.

"In our first year of delivering the baskets, something as simple as a pink disposable razor brought a young girl to tears," says Mann, adding it's something she'll never forget.

This is the third year in a row that she and other volunteers in Ladner are collecting beauty and comfort items for women's shelters, transition homes and residential recovery centers.

Originally inspired by a group of women that collected items for women in the Downtown Eastside, they organized 52 baskets of care items in 2010 and delivered them to Athena and Lilith Houses, recov-

ery homes in Surrey run by volunteer Harraj Garcha's sister.

Last year, donations surpassed all expectations and they were able to give 250 baskets to 10 different facilities in Delta, Surrey, and Metro Vancouver.

"There's a need to help other people. It's not that we have so much more to give, it's that these homes need help," explains Garcha.

We have a great community here in Ladner, all these moms helping out, she adds.

Garcha quotes the first American Secretary of State, Madeleine Albright: "There is a special place in hell for women who don't help other women."

In the big scheme of things, giving shampoo and nail polish might seem insignificant to what these women are facing, but Mann says it has an impact.

Because of the help they give, the facilities can divert funds to other things such as hiring a lawyer.

Two decades in Ladner Superior Fish aims to be as fresh and local as possible AdriAn MacNair reporter

The arrangement and colourful presentation of seafood delights as one enters Superior Fish in Ladner is practically artistic.

There are gray oysters, mussels, prawns, and clams, pink shrimp, pickled and salted herring, followed by reddish-brown smoked and jerky salmon, white crab cakes, red snapper in Thai sauce, and wild frozen sockeye.

After 20 years in their Ladner business, owners and first cousins Debbie Wilson and Kari Dobrilla have got a winning formula.

"My mother told me I could be anything I wanted. I chose fish," says Dobrilla, laughing as she talks to a customer.

Her friendly banter and straight talk isn't just put on for customer service.

Dobrilla belongs to five generations of fishers in Ladner, beginning with her great grandfather, who moved to Canada from then-Yugoslavia.

Her grandfather and father also fished, as did her siblings.

"The only fisherman left is my brother now," says Dobrilla, adding it's a tough go to make it as a commercial fisherman on the Fraser River these days.

But that doesn't mean business is slow. Ladner and Tsawwassen residents love their seafood.

"Consumer demand for fish is big," she says. "Salmon and halibut are our two best sellers."

Wilson started the business in its original location on River Road in front of Bella Coola Fisheries in 1980, before moving to Surrey, Richmond, and finally Ladner in 1992.

That's when Kari Dobrilla came on board to become partners with her cousin.

Superior Fish was originally named after another family company named Superior Seafoods.

"But I think Debbie would tell you it's because our fish are superior," laughs Dobrilla.

Their largest supplier is from Lionsgate Fisheries in Ladner and they're always looking to be as fresh and local as possible.

When they started out it was pretty simple, just carrying fish, but then they brought in casual clothing. After some tinkering, they've settled on a mix of seafood, casual wear and gourmet products.

It's these hard-to-find products that makes Superior Fish an ongoing success in Ladner, bringing in specialty products like canned tuna from Vancouver Island, or gluten-free and organic food.

D o b r i l la says t hat although it's fashionable today, their business was opposed to farmed salmon from the very beginning. In fact, they don't carry any farmed fish at all. Even the prawns are wild.

Ladner's little ponies A second chance is offered at rescue ranch

Ask any four-year-old what they want for their birthday and chances are they'll say "a pony."

Sometimes those wishes come true, and the parents go out and get their little girl a living, breathing gift. And sometimes it all works out, and the pony becomes a lifelong friend and companion.

But it doesn't always work out that way.

The brown pony living at Tiny Tales Pony Rescue in Ladner is beginning a new life after suffering abuse at the hands of his previous owners.

"He was beaten on several occasions until he was unconscious," says Tara Pay, the 29-yearold who runs the pony rescue on her parent's boarding barn for horses.

The previous owners admitted they beat the pony to try and discipline him of his wild and unpredictable behaviour. That admission frustrates Tara.

"When people work around horses they try and intimidate the horse and make them act on fear whereas it should be more about trust and respect," she says.

He's between 12 and 15 years old and arrived as a stallion. The first thing Tara did was geld him to make him calm and sociable.

Horses look to people to be a leader, she explains. There's no need to physically abuse horses, and when it happens it's usually because of ignorance or a lack of training knowledge.

Tiny Tales' first pony rescue, named Blossom, also came from Pip Squeaks.

"When we brought her here she couldn't stand comfortably for any length of time," says Tara.

A follow-up veterinary inspection showed she had been walking on a broken foot for a long time and the owner had either never noticed or never bothered to have it mended.

Because horses and ponies require a lot of physical exercise. Tara knew Blossom's quality of life was going to be poor, and made the difficult decision to euthanize her.

Tara and her parents run Four Season Equestrian Facility on their East Ladner ranch, a property they bought six years ago.

"When we took over the barn we always expected we would start a rescue," explains Tara, culminating in the non-profit pony rescue she began in June.

Tara grew up in Ladner and has always lived

around horses and ponies. When she was a little girl, she had plenty of both.

"I always wanted bigger, the bigger the better," she says.

Her first pony's name was Snuffleupagus, a Shetland pony named after the woolly mammoth friend of Big Bird on Sesame Street. He was fluffy and red and, she thought, huge. But

when she looks at old photos of her pony now he looks small.

Outgrowing a childhood pony is another reason the rescue exists. It's no uncommon for people to buy a pony for their child but later realize they're not able to commit to the kind of care and love required for an animal that has a life expectancy between 35 and 40 years.

But Tara enjoys working with horses, as difficult as the job can be.

"It's a labour of love. It's not a profitable industry. The best part is being able to look out of your window in the morning and see your horses."

Tara gets up at 6:30 a.m. to feed the horses, and let them out into the field. Then she cleans their stalls, and lays out fresh food. Horses feed about four times a day; morning, lunch, and then later afternoon, which at this time of year is when it gets dark. They have one more meal before they go to bed.

The barn has an indoor riding ring so the horses can be ridden, regardless of the bleak weather.

"I think they have a good therapeutic aspect to them," says Tara. "After a long, hard day you can come down and ride them and all the stress just oozes out of you.

"They definitely need an outlet for their energy. They're like people, the more active they are,

‘He was beaten on several occasions until he was unconscious,'

usually nervous around people, but there's more to his character than meets the eye.

When he was rescued he was acting as the seeingeye horse for a blind mini horse. Now, he takes care of Simon, a mini who was born with an oxygen deficiency, leading to his nickname "Simple Simon."

"So, I guess he's kind of a natural caregiver," Tara says.

Personality-wise, Rhap and Simon are polar opposites. Rhap avoids contact with everybody while Simon wants to practically sit in your lap, probably due to early handling by people.

But running a boarding barn and rescue isn't cheap.

Tara says gelding Oliver cost $600 and euthanizing Blossom cost $400.

She needs bedding for the horses, volunteers to help with cleaning or brushing, and wood chips or gravel for the paddocks.

Tara says Emma wants to come and take care of Oliver, the horse she named. She also thinks the boarding barn would be a great learning opportunity for Delta school children to learn about the responsibility of being on a farm and taking care of animals.

"If you can start teaching kids when they're young about taking care of horses you can potentially eliminate some of the people who will neglect them due to ignorance."

Tara underwent an apprenticeship in natural horsemanship four years ago. She worked with a mentor nearly every day for a year, learning everything there is to possibly know about horses.

Natural horsemanship is a practice of working with the animal's natural instincts, reading its body language, and deriving intent and emotion from it. There's a popular culture term for it which spawned a Hollywood blockbuster with Robert Redford.

"I don't like to call it horse whispering because it's kind of cheesy," she says, laughing.

But the concept of horse whispering is the idea here.

Tara says horses have personalities, just like people.

Some are cheeky and mischievous, some are dominant, and some are reserved.

Her mini-horses, Simon and Rhapsody, were also adopted from Pipsqueak Paddocks.

Using natural horsemanship, Tara helped bring "Rhap" out of his introverted shell. The tiny horse is

Trucking industry has need for skilled workers Job seekers are in luck when it comes to the commercial road transportation industry in B.C. Trucking companies throughout BC require professional drivers, mechanics, dispatchers and operations staff right now, which means that job seekers with experience or training may find work within their preferred region. For those considering training prior to joining the workforce, demand for skilled workers in the industry is likely to grow.

There are a number of reasons for this. For truck drivers, the industry is facing a North America-wide shortage because most are 45 years of age or older and nearing retirement.

Similar shortages exist for other jobs, including diesel engine and heavy duty mechanics.

Aside from worker shortages, economic growth in the Asia-Pacific Gateway is also driving demand for workers in transportation.

This applies not only to companies in the Lower Mainland, but in other regions as well, since the Asia-Pacific “Gateway”

is actually made up of an integrated supply chain of airports, seaports, rail and road connections, and border crossings, from Prince Rupert to Surrey, with links supplied by trucking.

Today’s trucking industry is an exciting place to be. Equipment in many companies is state of the art, meaning increased comfort and ease for drivers and opportunities for mechanics to work with technologically advanced systems, keeping both their skills and interest engaged.

Dispatch relies on sophisticated tracking and routing systems. Others on the operations side also use information technology of many kinds to deal with everything from licences and permits, to customer services, accounting, sales and marketing.

People joining the industry have many career choices. Drivers, for example, may work close to home as pick-up and delivery or short-haul drivers.

Those who like the idea of travelling across Canada or North America can become long-haul drivers for an employer or work as own-

er-operators. Drivers may haul consumer goods, fuel, logs, heavy-duty equipment, livestock – most of what we purchase spent some time on the road with a commercial truck.

If you already have experience as a driver, mechanic or operations worker, most companies advertise jobs on their websites. Members of the BC Trucking Association from across the province may post jobs at bctrucking.com, and the provincial and federal governments maintain job sites at WorkBC and Working in Canada.

If you’d like to enter the industry but need training, there are also many avenues to explore. Although there is not a standard training course for professional drivers, there are numerous private schools throughout B.C. that offer programs. The business also tries to carry as many local products of vendors from the Ladner Market as possible to carry them through the winter season.

For many vendors, it's a chance to have their products start out in a local supermarket.

"We know how hard it is for the little guy to start up a business," says Dobrilla, reflecting on the past 20 years. "Yeah, we're a little guy, too."

Dobrilla doesn't fish anymore, focusing solely on running the business.

But she remembers her summers as a kid fondly, fishing with her dad.

Although she inherited the fish industry, it's a choice she's never regretted.

GVHBA launches 17th annual campaign to benefit families in need

Collecting Coats for Kids The Greater Vancouver Home Builders’ Association is collecting Coats for Kids for the 17th year in support of the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau, which helps families in need have a great and warm holiday season.

Gently used coats, blankets and clothing can be dropped off at the GVHBA office in Surrey or at 64 locations around the Lower Mainland until Dec. 7.

“Last year the response to Coats for Kids was heartwarming as Lower Mainland residents donated more than 3,000 coats, scarves, gloves, blankets and new unwrapped toys and gifts for distribution to children, teenagers

and adults,” says GVHBA Chair Blake Hudema. “I am delighted so many members of our association are participating in this annual initiative.”

Among the locations you can drop off donations are many Black Press publications, developers and other housing industry professionals in Abbotsford, Burnaby, Coquitlam, Delta, Langley, Maple Ridge, New Westminster, North Vancouver, Port Moody, Port Coquitlam, Surrey, Richmond, Vancouver and West Vancouver.

It is with profound sadness that we share the sudden passing of Jordan. He is survived by his father James Price; mother Eva Champagne; brothers Kyle and Josh; sisters Jenny, Grace, Andrea and Laura along with many extended family members.

Jordon grew up in Richmond and graduated from JN Burnett Secondary in January 2011. He played volleyball and basketball; coached and reffed. He completed a pre-apprenticeship program in metal fabrication at BCIT in July 2011. He found his true passion working as an apprentice metal fabricator at Ebco Industries in Richmond.

He was a loving and caring young man who left an indelible mark on all who knew him. He had an infectious laugh and a warm smile and was generous towards everyone he met.

A Celebration of Jordan’s life will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 1:00 pm at Cedar Park Church, 5300 44th Avenue, Ladner, BC.
