There is now cell service between Cranbrook and Yahk. Telus made the announcement Wednesday, November 14 after going live last weekend at its new Moyie wireless site. The site, located on a rise southeast of Moyie Lake Provincial Park, brings wireless coverage to 14 kilometres of Highway 3 between Cranbrook and Yahk. “It was a fairly complex site to build given

The provincial government is seeking public consultation on its new Wolf Management Plan that will provide guidelines on a region-by-region basis to deal with B.C.’s growing wolf population. Minister of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations Steve Thomson told the Townsman the plan does not mean the province will begin culling wolves, but instead lays out the guidelines to manage the wolf population in a sciencebased manner in each region of the province. “The report will help inform future policy,” he said. The plan is the first of its kind dealing with the management of the grey wolf in more than 30 years.

Elk Valley RCMP issued an Amber Alert for three-year-old Sparwood boy Alvin Barnet on Thursday evening. Alvin is believed to have been abducted near Sparwood by his dad, Robert Barnet, 39. RCMP believe the suspect then crossed the border into Montana. The pair may be travelling in a blue 2002 Subaru Outback, B.C. license plate 347SBL. Alvin is wearing a red
