The province currently has two forest inventories underway, one in the Quesnel Timber Supply Area (TSA) and one in the Lakes TSA. The re-inventory of the Quesnel TSA is expect to be completed sooner than the Lakes TSA. “We should be completed with the Quesnel TSA inventory in 2013,” said member of legislative assembly John Rustad. “The reinventory work that is being done in Quesnel is showing some very encouraging signs.

Work needs to be done to finalize things, but right now it looks like the amount of green wood left in the beetle infested areas is a lot higher than we anticipated.”

Recent mid-term timber supply projections had been very pessimistic.

“The original work we did in May painted a grim picture,” said Rustad.

“It depends on market conditions, but from a supply perspective I’m anticipating a much larger supply than anticipated.”

“Which goes to show,” Rustad continued, “if we had taken the approach that the NDP was calling for, to plow under those [pinebeetle affected] stands to get them replanted… we would have lost a significant volume of our mid-term timber supply.”

Building a strong, safe pipeline Recently, in this space, I mentioned the extra care and attention that have gone into the planning of the Gateway pipeline route. I’d like to tell you now about another largely untold piece of the Gateway pipeline story — and that’s all the work we’ve done on pipeline integrity in order to prevent a spill.

monitoring, intrusion alarms, pipeline pressure, temperature, and vibration level, and several forms of leak detection technology.

Recently, we announced a series of safety enhancements that push Gateway far beyond the stringent standards of the pipeline industry.

Put simply, they make what was already a very safe project even safer.

We’ll also be fitting the pipeline with dual leak-detection analysis systems.

That means two entirely different means of highly accurate data analysis along the route, giving us a computerized model of pipeline flow, with information constantly being captured, updated, and monitored.

To begin with, the overall wall thickness of the oil pipeline will be increased by 19 per cent, and the condensate pipeline by 14 per cent.

For water crossings such as major tributaries to the Fraser, Skeena, and Kitimat Rivers, that number will be bumped up by another 10 to 20 per cent. During the construction phase, we’ll ensure serious quality control during fabrication, ultrasonic or radiographic testing of every weld, hydrotesting and extra care in the backfill process.

All of our remote pump stations along the route will be staffed 24/7.

That means an extra level of security — with on-site personnel, in addition to remote control-centre operators, keeping tabs on video security

We’ll be making more in-line inspection surveys across the entire system — at a minimum of 50 per cent above current standards — plus full biweekly air patrols.

The explosion occurred within the transport system that moves dried wood during the pellet making process. Reitsma wouldn’t say wether it was a combustion explosion or the result of built-up pres-

sure.

“In one of the transport systems for the material that is made into pellets, there was an explosion event that should have been directed out of the process. The result being damage to a surge bin at the end of the transport system,” said Reitsma.

As of press time the plant is not yet operational, but Reitsma expected the mill to be running again by early this week.

A side of reward to go with that risk?

The Northern Gateway hearings have been underway in Prince George for the past week.

Many towns and First Nations in northwest B.C. have already taken positions for or against the proposed pipeline (mostly against).

Notable exceptions are Burns Lake and Kitimat. Both towns are waiting until all the facts are in before making a decision. It’s true, we need facts to make an informed decision, but what facts remain to be uncovered? What information, exactly, is not available that could sway a person’s decision one way or the other?

The hearings themselves have become bogged down in their own remarkable blandness. Every day’s hearings mimic what we heard in Burns Lake when Enbridge visited last week. Whenever a perceived shortcoming or concern is raised about the pipeline, the response from Enbridge is something like, we’d need the kind of engineering that comes after approval to answer a question like that.

Enbridge researchers are saying that all the facts are in. In their mind, they have given what can reasonably be expected and they do have a point. Research is expensive, never complete and always open to new facts and technology.

It is unreasonable to expect Enbridge to have at hand every detail of every contingency that could arise over every metre of the pipeline from source to terminus.

No decision works that way. Even systems that work very well aren’t scrutinized like that and don’t operate like that. If we waited for all the information to be in before we did anything, we’d never actually get started on anything. It’s disingenuous to expect absolute completeness from Enbridge.

a stand on the pipeline it seems that risk of ecological harm, any ecological harm, is not worth the potential benefit of the pipeline.

The reasoning is that no risk is acceptable, and seeing that risk can’t be engineered out of the system completely, then they give an emphatic ‘no’ to the pipeline.

This isn’t risk mitigation, it’s risk rejection.

Premier Christy Clark has been providing a sideshow suggesting that the province wants to drop a bag of money on one side of the scale and see if it outweighs the risks involved. If B.C. gets its ‘fair share’ of Alberta’s oil revenue, then maybe we’ll go along.

There’s nothing about the opposition in Northern B.C. to the pipeline that suggests that a bigger piece of the pie is what protesters are after.

Her position will galvanize those already opposed, but her posturing is probably irrelevant anyway as her conditions for provincial approval include community and First Nations support and there doesn’t seem to be much of that going around.

For many people, the hearings were over before they started. It never was a question of whether or not Enbridge had a good plan in place for moving bitumen and distillate to Kitimat. It has always been a question of whether risk equalled reward and many individuals and communities were clear from the start that no level of risk is acceptable.

If the communities of Burns Lake and Kitimat are waiting for the conclusion of the hearing before making a decision, they still face a final unenviable decision.

Does that mean that they are prepared to go along with the recommendations of the panel even if it contradicts the will of the people?

It was a sunny Thanksgiving weekend when I took my first all-transit trip from Victoria to Vancouver for a B.C. Lions football game.

Despite all the doomsaying about people shunning ferries because of some mediadetermined “tipping point” in fares, you wouldn’t have guessed it that weekend. Articulated buses were jammed coming and going from the Tsawwassen terminal to the Canada Line.

Returning to Vancouver Island on Sunday, I was struck by the crowds, and the low cost: SkyTrain, express bus, walk-on passenger fare and express bus to Victoria totalled about $20. This explains the surge in walk-on traffic.

BC Ferries issued bulletins advising first that Tsawwassen’s parking lot and then Swartz Bay’s were full. The Tsawwassen First Nation’s shuttle parking next door was overflowing, with cars tucked into every level space. And even with hourly sailings, the major route had plenty of vehicle traffic, with all available vessels running.

Now the long, late summer is gone, and the political theatre resumes. Transportation Minister Mary Polak picked up where the retiring Blair Lekstrom left off, reminding people that BC Ferries is going to deal with rising costs primarily by ceasing the practice of running vessels a third full or less.

This comes as “consultation” begins with smaller ferry communities on where and when these sailings will be cut. And it follows the first major price-cap decision by the newly empowered B.C. Ferry Commissioner, Gord Macatee. He now can determine service levels as well as fares, which are permitted to rise about four per cent in each of the next three years.

The NDP’s ferry critic, North Coast MLA Garry Coons, has also decided to transition to his government pensions next year. But before he sails away, he has doubled his repertoire of outraged sound bites to two.

Along with every coffee-shop know-it-all on the coast, Coons perpetually reminds us that ferries are “part of our highway system.” He remains convinced that this financially illiterate cliché somehow deals with the fact that even a subsidy approaching $200 million this year can’t keep all those boats afloat forever.

A family of four on a long driving trip faces similar price increases, when you factor in tolls, insurance, food and other costs beyond the fuel tank. But for some reason the “government” is supposed to provide special relief to those who choose the most inaccessible places to live.

Coons’ latest tack is that BC Ferries has lost its way, trying to be a fancy cruise ship service instead of giving people basic transportation at an affordable price.

That would be terrible if it were true. But those amenities on newer vessels are there because they make money, utilizing staff who have to be on board anyway. As everyone but the NDP seems to grasp, the big costs are fuel, maintenance, and minimum crew levels to meet federal regulations, regardless of passenger revenue.

I was reminded on the last busy weekend of the year that the new Coastal-class ferries kept vehicle capacity the same while increasing passenger space. This choice anticipated today’s travel reality nearly a decade ago. Good thing somebody was able to understand ferries as a business, as opposed to a welfare program for the reclusive and the rich.

BC Ferries has already cut sailings on the Tsawwassen-Duke point route. As described in an earlier column, this needlessly long run is the biggest boondoggle in BC Ferries history, a Dave Barrett-era payoff to the union that continues today.

Changes will now come to other routes that minimize shifts and overtime, rather than inflating them.

Money in budget for current work ...From page 1 that the ministry will use to support short term decision-making”, said Thomas. The second phase of the inventory will not be complete until late 2014 or early 2015.

The Lakes TSA also has a Type-4 silviculture survey underway and will be completed by March 31, 2013. The completion of a Type-4 silviculture survey for the Lakes TSA was one of the recommendations of the special committee on timber supply.

Critics have been vocal that the province has not moved quickly enough to update inventories.

They point to the existence of some inventories based on data that is 10 or 20 years out of date.

“Inventory is a baseline. It’s continually updated every year,” explained Rustad. “The landscape was changing on a year to year basis. What we did was update our baseline inventory every year. It’s not like we don’t know what’s going on in the forest because we haven’t had a new baseline for 10 years. We have been mapping the infestation and the changes that have been happening, and all of that information

feeds into the annual allowable cut and the decisions that are made by the chief forester .”

Minster Steve Thomson had early in the week made the same point.

“The rapidly changing situation in the forest necessitated that we hold off in our inventory and reforestation plans until the situation [with the mountain pine beetle] stabilized,” said Thomson. “Now we can proceed.”

Although no new money beyond the $11 million indicated in Beyond the Beetle: A Mid-Term Supply Action Plan announced, that money is part of the current budget, so these inventories will be completed. “We’ve got money in the current budget for the activities identified in the plan,” said minister Thomson during last weeks announcement.

“Over the next three years we’re going to spend over $100 million dollars on reforestation and inventory activities.”

Rustad would not later elaborate on the details of the three year plan. “It would be inappropriate to anything to be announced in advance of the [February 2013] budget,” said Rustad.

Enbridge pipeline’s proximity to Burns Lake raises concerns Walter Strong Could a breach of the proposed Enbridge Northern Gateway pipeline force the evacuation of Burns Lake as bitumen and condensate spew from a ruptured 2500 psi pipe running through the hills surrounding Burns Lake and underneath the Endako River just west of town?

“Let me state emphatically that the chance of this scenario ever occurring is zero,” said Michelle Perret, senior manager of community and municipal relations for Enbridge Northern Gateway Pipelines.

Perret was in town at the request of Burns Lake village council. Mayor Strimbold’s office had received a letter from Doug Phair, a local resident, outlining his concerns for the outcome of a break in the proposed

pipeline under review that would pass quite close to Burns Lake. Phair highlighted a potential evacuation zone around the run of the proposed pipeline which he considers to represent an unacceptable risk.

“Council received the letter from Mr. Phair and… we sent a letter to Enbridge requesting more information about emergency response programs,” said Strimbold.

Perret, along with Owen McHugh, Stantec Associate Project Manager of Environmental Management for Enbridge, made a presentation to village council on Sept. 9, 2012 prior to the regularly scheduled village council meeting. Several members of the public were also in attendance, despite the relatively short notice given that Enbridge would be making a presentation to village council.

On Oct. 14, 2012 at approximately 6:36 a.m., the Burns Lake RCMP responded to a report of break and enter in progress to a home on ninth avenue in Burns Lake.

The suspect gained entry to the home through an unsecured basement window and fled on foot once confronted by the home owner. The suspect was identified as a First Na-

We’ll have a plan, trust us says Enbridge ...From page 5 McHugh quickly acknowledged that the specifics Enbridge’s emergency response to a pipeline breach in Burns Lake are not ready at hand. “There haven’t been any field studies in Burns Lake,” said McHugh. “But they will be done.”

According to McHugh, the pipeline project is at too preliminary a stage to expect a specific response plan to be in place for every section of the pipeline.

He presented his analysis of what a Burns Lake emergency plan would look like based upon the existing detailed plans for a pipe failure in Kitimat.

McHugh described a system where ground elevation and drainage topography allow for a model of projected spill pathways and containment points. The idea is that a rupture of the pipeline at a specific point along its length will naturally be directed to choke points.

These choke points might be ecologically sensitive stream heads or lakes, but they do represent containable constriction points rather than a wide indiscriminate swathe of flooding that would overwhelm Burns Lake.

As for the specifics of how these points would be identified and how cleanups would proceed, McHugh offered that the details would need to be worked out once pipeline construction moved from proposal to approval. He described a situation where emergency response plans grow dynamically with input from, and in response to, the local community.

Huckleberry contracted Arthon Belvedere joint venture for $30 million, to build a base for the main dam – 42 m tall, 175 m wide and 1.4 km long – which will form a new tailings pond two km east of the old one, said construction Project Manager John Allen.

Employing 200 people, Arthon Belvedere is working around the clock, housing workers at Sweeney Road camp two near Huckleberry and changing crews every ten days, getting as much as possible done before shutting down for the winter, probably by the end of November, Allen said.

Work started in

mid-March, so they faced challenges with snow and water management, but worked with mine managers to deal with it and were not significantly delayed as a result, Allen says.

“We did think there would be some delays at the time, but fortunately as we worked through it, the project moved forward,” he said.

by Amec Earth and Environmental Limited, will have the base finished by Arthon Belvedere by July 31, 2013, said Allen, adding that it will continue to be built up each year after that until 2019 when it reaches a height of 92 m.

There are mechanics, engineers, first aid workers, and equipment operators employed at Huckleberry, and at least a quarter of them are local, including some workers displaced by the Burns Lake mill fire, Allen said.

Arthon Belvedere also made an agreement and employs some Cheslatta Carrier Nation people, because it’s their traditional territory, said Allen.

“They’ve been a great partner to work with,” Allen said. “They’ve been very supportive of the project.”

Arthon Belvedere trained and then employed some people in operating equipment, hiring a few who had done training with the British Columbia Aboriginal Mine Training Association (BCAMTA).

“It’s actually been a

great project to work on, we’ve really gelled as a team and the mine’s been very supportive of us, and vise versa,” said Allen, adding that with this summer’s weather and no severe accidents or incidents, the project is ahead of schedule and on budget.

With the presidential election in the U.S. coming soon, each candidate is giving reasons why voting for them will produce the best results.

For 2000 years Jesus has been campaigning that he is going to establish a righteous kingdom upon earth. What are his promises? He will judge righteously, produce peace among nations, and end terrorism. Lions will dwell with lambs; cows and bears feed together; nursing children will play with once-poisonous vipers like toys; death and disease will be nonexistent. Nothing shall hurt or destroy in his holy mountain. To sum it all up, the Bible declares, “His rest shall be glorious.”

However, peace is the exclusive fruit of righ-

teousness. No individual or nation will experience peace until there is “rightness” within. For this reason, the things that corrupt our nations now will be exempt in God’s Kingdom.

The Bible says, “Let no one deceive you in any way, no one who is sexually immoral, no murderers, no thieves, no covetous, no drunkards or drug-abusers, no liars, or extortionists, shall inherit the kingdom of God.” Since this list would exclude every one of us, the Bible continues, “And such were some of you, but now you are washed by the blood of Christ, and set apart to live righteously by the help and power of God’s Spirit. You are completely justified in the name of Jesus Christ.”

No one can say they are too ‘bad’ to enter the Kingdom of Heaven, for Christ has paid for them in full. No one can say they are good enough on their own merit to enter the kingdom of heaven. We are all sinners who would be equally exempt were it not for the loving payment of Christ. But each one of us must place our vote as to where we want to spend eternity.

Remember, God votes for you, the devil votes against you, but your vote decides the election.

Local artisans may be out of a home after Christmas

More graffiti arrives over the weekend With a Burns Lake Band election coming up, some people may be expressing their dissatisfaction over Chief Albert Gerow’s support of the Enbridge Northern Gateway Pipelines hearings currently underway. Chief Gerow reiterates that the band has not taken a stand for or against the proposed pipeline, but is waiting until the conclusion of the hearings to make their final decision.

An artisan’s co-op has been renting the Burns Lake interpretive centre building since 2010. The current rental arrangement will end on Dec. 31, 2012.

Walter Strong The Lakes Artisan Co-operative that currently rents the Interpretive Centre Building from the Village of Burns Lake must submit a new rental application and potentially compete with other businesses in the community. In a unanimous decision of the Village of Burns Lake council, it was resolved that village council would issue a local request for proposals, “to allow residents and businesses to submit a rental application indicating the highest monthly rental amount they are able to pay and their intended use for the building which should comply with the original intent identified in the building grant agreement.”

According to a Village

of Burns Lake council report, the annual cost associated with the building are over $9500 per year, included utilities, municipal services, snow removal and general maintenance. The Artisan Co-operative currently pays $500 per month, and has asked to have their rent reduced to $400 per month with the promise that they will take care of their own snow removal in the winter.

Some local business owners have expressed their concern that the rental agreement with the Village of Burns Lake is in effect a violation of section 25 of the community charter which prohibits assistance to a business. Beate Marquardt, a member of the co-operative, believes that the village is not in violation of the

village charter because the Artisan Co-operative does not operate in the same way that a privately owned business does.

In a legal opinion obtained by the Village of Burns Lake, the village can rent to the highest bidder even if that bid is less than the cost of keeping the building open. It is not necessarily a contravention of the community charter to rent the building for less than what it costs to operate it.

The requirements outlined by the grant agreement which funded part of the original building cost says that the centre is to be used as “a firstclass Tourism Information and Interpretive Centre that is vital to creating new businesses, investment and employment in the tourism sector.”

This flexible approach to finding and managing old growth in a forest district that Strimbold describes is called non-spatial old growth management.

“We’ll be able to meet our old growth goals in the Lakes TSA,” said Rustad, “but we’ll do it from a non-spatial perspective. If we move to nonspatial [old growth management] in the Lakes TSA, we’d get another 90,000 cubic metres per year on a sustainable basis through renewal.”

But these changes won’t come from the top down.

“We’re not planning to make changes anywhere else unless local groups come forward and say that they want a review,” said Rustad. “We’ll support that review and help them with the science, but it will be their decision.

Let’s face it, modern Video cards draw a lot of power. Some of them draw so much that they actually need a separate power connector, because they can’t draw enough power through the motherboard.

When buying a new video card you need to consider the minimum wattage required, and the amps the video card will need from the +12 volt rail. You should be able to find this information easily by looking on the sticker that is usually affixed to the side of your Power Supply Unit.

Walter Strong Coach Richelle Wellman was a skater in Burns Lake 30 years ago. She coaches young skaters today for only a portion of her previous wages as a coach. She gave up part of her income because of a funding crunch that is facing the Burns Lake Figure Skating Club.

The club faces a financial crisis having been unexpectedly turned down for a Community Gaming Grant from the province. “We were relying on this money to get us through the season,” said Wellman.

The club, which has been in Burns Lake for almost 50 years, is down to 32 members from

105 members just five years ago.

“Our parents cannot be asked to pay higher fees,” said Kim Wiebe, executive member of the club. “We [would] need to fund raise $20,000 in order to provide a regular season for our kids.”

Wiebe doesn’t believe that it is possible to raise that kind of money in today’s economy, so the club will focus on offering lessons until Christmas. The club will not host their annual skating carnival as coach Wellman won’t have the ice time required to work with the skaters to create the show. “Right now her focus is teaching the required [figure skating] badges,” said Wiebe.

The club still needs to raise

money to get through what remains of their season. T he Burns Lake Figure Skating Club executive, along with parents of the skaters will be hosting a Halloween Karaoke Sing Song at the Burns Lake Legion on Oct. 27, 2012.

There will be a spaghetti dinner at 6 p.m., a 50/50 draw and silent auction to raise funds for ice rental.

“Your donation toward the silent auction would be greatly appreciated,” said Wiebe. “dress up, come out and sing along.”

There will be prizes for the best vocalist and the best costume.

The club is hoping to raise $2000.

Job Posting – Burns Lake Transfer Station Attendant The Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako requires an attendant to operate the Burns Lake Transfer Station.

The general duties of the attendant will be: • Daily operations of the transfer station including operation and maintenance of a skid-steer loader; • Loading 53 foot walking floor trailers in a safe and efficient manner; • Greeting and assisting the public; • Management of waste on site including regular clean up of site; • Monitoring and reporting of transfer station activities including recycling initiatives.

Skills that the attendant should possess: • Good public relations skills; • Be physically fit and enjoy working outdoors in all weather conditions; • An ability to keep a well organized and clean and tidy site; • Experience operating and maintaining heavy equipment.

The hours of operation of the facility are Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, Saturday and Sunday 10:00 am to 6:00 pm and closed Statutory holidays.

The successful candidate will work under an averaging agreement, 7 days on (Monday through Sunday) followed by 7 days off, for a total of 66 hours every two weeks. This posting is for a permanent full time position upon successful completion of a 6-month probationary period.

Education and Experience: Five (5) years or more involvement in overall management of a construction project, and management of a Quality Assurance Program.

A bylaw to amend the tax limit of the Burns Lake Ice Arena Service WHEREAS the Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako has established by Bylaw No. 689 the Burns Lake Ice Arena Local Service Area with the participating areas being the Village of Burns Lake, Electoral Area “B” and a portion of Electoral Area “E”; AND WHEREAS the Regional Board wishes to amend the tax limit; AND WHEREAS under Section 802(1)(b) of the Local Government Act, all of the participants have consented to the adoption of this Bylaw.

AND WHEREAS the approval of the Inspector of Municipalities has been obtained under Section 801 of the Local Government Act; AND WHEREAS participating area approval has been obtained under Section 801.2 of the Local Government Act. NOW THEREFORE the Regional Board of the Regional District of BulkleyNechako, in open meeting assembled, enacts as follows: 1. Section 4 of Bylaw No. 689 as amended, is hereby repealed and the following substituted therefore: 4. The maximum annual requisition for the Local Service shall be SEVENTY-SEVEN CENTS PER THOUSAND DOLLARS ($0.77 per $1,000) applied to the net taxable value of land and improvements in the participating area plus, until and including the year 2019, an additional SEVENTY-FIVE THOUSAND ($75,000) DOLLARS for the renovation of the Arena and replacement of equipment at the arena together with the costs of repaying debt (both principal and interest) thereon.

2. This bylaw may be cited as the “Burns Lake Ice Arena Service Amendment Bylaw No. 1609, 2011.”

Walter Strong The Burns Lake and District Community Foundation has been operating since 2006 and offered its first grant in 2008. It is an endowment fund the supports local education, arts, culture and community applications.

It was established under the guidance of the Prince George Community Foundation.

Operating under the umbrella of the Prince George organization allows the local foundation to concentrate on raising both funds and the profile of the foundation. Not only does the Prince George foundation provide annual accounting, reporting and investment management, but by pooling their resources with the larger fund in Prince George the local foundation is able to get a better rate of return on its investment.

“Prince George graciously offered to assist us with the annual reporting and investment of funds,” said Bernice Magee, a director with the Burns Lake and District Community Foundation. “The rate of

return has been around seven per cent, which is very good given the current economy.”

As an endowment, or legacy fund the foundation only disburses the interest earned on its previous years investments. The principal amount of the fund is never touched or diminished. Even the cost of managing the fund is taken from the interest earned.

“We initially started with $25,000 from the community forest and that was matched by the Vancouver Community Foundation,” said Magee, “and then the Northern Development Initiative kicked in another $25,000. That really got us going.”

Most recently the foundation received a $500,000 donation to the Dick Nourse legacy fund.

Strict marine safety standards will ensure we respect our neighbours above, around and below us.

Although tankers have been safely navigating the north coast and its channels for decades, marine safety remains a top priority for British Columbians. We have been planning the Northern Gateway Project for over a decade, with a particular focus on protecting the environment. We have added specific safety requirements to our marine operations plan to help make the waters of the north coast safer not just for tankers serving the project, but for all marine vessels.

Tankers will reduce speeds in the channels…

Qualified BC Coast Pilots will board and guide all tankers… To prevent spills, all tankers serving the project will be modern and double-hulled, and will be vetted by independent, third party agencies before entering Canadian waters.

Once strict safety and environmental standards are met, they will be guided through the Douglas and Principe Channels by qualified BC Coast Pilots.

Tankers travel slowly, but to make sure that marine species and their habitats are respected, tankers will be required to reduce speed as they pass through certain sections of the channels. Even their escort tugboats will have quieter engines to reduce underwater noise.

Powerful tugboats will escort tankers…

Additional radar and navigational aids will improve safety for all vessels…

Tugboats have been shown to significantly reduce tanker incidents worldwide. Powerful tugboats that have been specially commissioned for Northern Gateway will assist in the safe arrival and departure of tankers.

All tankers will be attended by a close escort tug. In the channels, laden tankers will have two tugs–one tethered at all times. These tugboats will have emergency response equipment on board and will be capable of assisting any marine vessel.

For increased safety and sure guidance, additional radar systems and navigational aids, such as beacons, buoys and lights, will be installed throughout the routes. This will not only improve safety for tankers, but for all marine traffic on the north coast.
