A raging wildfire 40 kilometres west of Clinton forced almost 50 people to evacuate from more than a dozen homes homes Aug. 22. The forest fire in the Big Bar Creek area was estimated at 400 hectares (988 acres) in size and was zero per cent contained and displaying moderately vigorous fire behaviour. The Wildfire Management Branch reported that air tankers dropping retardant and further resources, including two helicopters, multiple pieces of heavy equipment and 42 firefighters were battling the blaze.
