ZONE A political gaffe from birth to death

Kelowna’s anti-abortion organization may not have succeeded in its attempt to fly its flag atop City Hall, but its efforts did get the attention of a national audience. Within hours of Right to Life sending out a news release claiming the municipality agreed to fly its colours, news organizations swooped in and Kelowna was labelled the first city in B.C. to wave an antiabortion flag. It wasn’t quite the case, say city staff, but as soon as the words were written critics of the decision took to the web to offer their perspectives on the flag and Kelowna in general—and, for the most part, the hundreds of reviews that poured in weren’t favourable.
