City of Abbotsford, under the leadership of Mayor Banman, is proud to be named the Healthiest Community in the 2012 Healthy Community Challenge. City of Abbotsford and Healthy Abbotsford collaboratively worked together to become the healthiest community in British Columbia by being physically active, eating healthy and decreasing tobacco use. Residents participated in the FREE 90-Day 2012 Healthy Community Challenge from March 10 - June 9, 2012 and logged over 516 points. Congratulations to the residents of Abbotsford who received an overwhelming first place finish over Surrey, Langley and Coquitlam. Parks, Recreation & Culture Department works continuously to ensure residents of all ages have considerable opportunities to be physically active. We provide our community with innovative low cost options and participation incentive challenges such as the Healthy Community Challenge. Our network of parkland and trails play a significant role in supporting the community’s access for a healthy and active lifestyle.
