This program includes a 3 day leadership training workshop, manual and Youth Leadership Team t-shirt .This is a great opportunity to complete you volunteer requirements for graduation, and/or receive credits towards work experience, build valuable experience and acquire references for the future. SUMMER ADVENTURE PLAYGROUND Make it a summer to remember by attending our free, drop-in, playground program. Children ages 5 – 11 are invited to join us for exciting playground activities at Gyro/Recreation Park. Parks and Recreation leaders are experts in creating fun-filled summer days involving crafts, games, songs, sports and other great activities.

Tuesday July 3 to Thursday August 16 (note: Playground leaders will not be at the Park on August 6 for BC Day)

Monday to Friday Gyro/Recreation Park 10 am – 4 pm Parents: Our playground leaders are trained to offer play leadership and general supervision. However, by the nature of the program there are often many children and all are free to come and go. Children who require special supervision must be accompanied by a responsible babysitter, guardian or parent.

Equine Camp – Level 1 Ages 7 – 14 Do you love horses? Then take part in this Horseback Riding program at Secret Creek Stables and learn how to ride a horse. As part of their day on the farm, participants will learn care and safety around horses; touch base on stable duties including feeding, brushing and cleaning stalls. Then it’s on to the main focus of riding lessons with a fun obstacle course at the end for new riders. Participants will also have time to horse around with a craft and other horse activities. Ever wonder how those awesome 3D animated movies like Shrek, Toy Story and The Incredibles are made?” Spend the week learning how by modeling, animating and telling your own stories in 3D. You’ll use wonderful (& free!) 3D software to design characters that jump off the screen and then make them come alive by adding voices, soundtracks and completing your own animated short film. Dickson Lake Canoe Trip Join the AV Outdoor Club for a leisurely day exploring the sheltered waters of Dickson and Ash Lakes.

Do you want to get a jump on the upcoming hockey season before league play starts? Join us for a fun pre-season conditioning, skills and drills class. This program is open to all adult male and female players who want to get on their skates and get a jump on the hockey season before league play starts. Jungle Fever Tuesday, July 31 at Gyro/ Recreation Park 6:30 – 8:30 pm (North Park & 7th Ave.) We’ll be in the wild for this Our Town event. We always have high flying fun with the kites and a magic shoe by Ronald McDonald. You’ll also get to enjoy an evening of great entertainment provided by Marim Bam Buzz, West Coast Highlander Pipes and Drums, and the Valley Cloggers.
