Hats Off Day Saturday, June 2 Burnaby’s biggest and favourite festival features a colourful parade and an 11-block street festival with music, dancing, street performers, food, games and much more. It’s a day when Heights merchants take their ‘hats off’ to their community.
Giro di Burnaby Thursday, July 12 Ready, set, Giro! The Giro di Burnaby is part of BC Superweek, the richest event in Canadian cycling, drawing professional racers from around the world. Invite your friends! Plan a night out with dinner on the Heights, and then gather on Hastings Street to watch one of the most exciting bicycle races in the Lower Mainland.
Chevron Movie Night in the Park Sunday, August 26 Chevron’s Movie Night in the Park will return to Confederation Park again this year, featuring kids’ activities, a food concession and a family movie on the big screen. Bring your family and enjoy a movie under the stars.

Halloween on the Heights Wednesday, October 31 Halloween belongs in the neighbourhood, where it is safe, fun and a celebration of a good spooking! Come visit Heights merchants who will treat your little ones to candy and fun times. The celebrations will continue at Burnaby Central Railway (at Confederation Park), who will host Trains in the Dark, and Gilmore Community School with a professional fireworks display.
Light up the Heights Saturday, December 1, 8 & 15 ‘Tis the season for shopping and celebrating and there’s no better place to do so than on the bustling sidewalks of the Heights. Kickoff the festive season at the community Tree Lighting Ceremony at Heights Fountain Square on Dec. 1. Then, Light up the Heights will take to the streets on the following two Saturdays with strolling carollers and surprise visits from Santa Claus.
Chinese New Year Saturday, February 16 Celebrating the multiculturalism found within our diverse community, the HMA hosts an annual Chinese New Year celebration on the Heights. The lion dancers will visit merchants and perform a special blessing to bring them luck and prosperity in an exciting display of colour and drumming.
