BEFORE WE ANSWER THIS QUESTION, WE NEED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT SELF-CARE IS GETTING THE ATTENTION IT DESERVES...

The reason why you find it so hard to practice self-care is probably the lack of knowing the meaning of it. What does self-care even mean? The practice of taking an active role in protecting one’s own well-being and happiness, in particular during periods of stress. Now that’s done, what else ? Exactly, there is more to that. Psychology Experts suggest to take 10 minutes a day to practice self-care. That’s where the problem starts . No time. A lot of people have difficulty finding time to be compassionate to themselves.Taking care of yourself is inevitably important, when you are responsible for someone else like children, parents, spouse, sick or disabled person.

As the airlines tell us, you have to put on your own oxygen mask before you try to help someone else. Other than that you may suffocate before saving someone else’s life ! No, I don’t want it either.

How can you be more aware of your health and practice self-care successfully ? These 5 types will give you more insight and depth of taking care of yourself.

1. SENSORY SELF-CARE Allow yourself to calm your mind and focus on the present moment. Let go of any resentments and put your senses in to practice : sight, smell, touch and sound. For example : Cuddling, Eating your favorite chocolate, Walking barefoot in the grass , getting a massage or listening to music with closed eyes.

2. EMOTIONAL SELF-CARE This type of self-care helps with stress and emotional chaos. It’s healthy to feel anger or sadness, accept them and move on ! How can you practice it ? By consulting a therapist, singing along to the song that best expresses your current emotions, writing in your daily journal, spending time with people you love and ‘‘laughter makes good blood’’ 3. SPIRITUAL SELF-CARE Hold on ! Don’t skip this part . Oftentimes we associate spiritual to religion and that right there is a false perception. Let me explain... You can be religious without being spiritual. And vice versa.

By spiritual we mean getting in touch with the essence of your humanness like values, morals and developing a sense of purpose. If this is your preferred method, you should try to write down affirmations, pray or meditate, walk in nature and enjoy the beauty around you, give your creative side free reign and be grateful.

4. PHYSICAL SELF-CARE When talking about self-care most people refer to physical self-care. Such as : Dance, yoga, going to the gym, running or even going for a walk. Psychology experts found out that power-napping (20 minutes)can be so refreshing and relaxing for the brain. Physical self-care includes also to learn how and when to say â&#x20AC;&#x2DC;Noâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; when your battery is running low.

5. SOCIAL SELF-CARE Socializing with people is necessary for happiness and allowing yourself to be human. It starts with unsubscribing from spammy emails to joining a support group for people who struggle with the same thing you do. 6 hours of digital detox, could be the best thing you have ever done.

Without question, acting is what I was meant to do.

Thank God I got the discernment to understand that if I could get up at 5am for an early call time on set after working a 60-hour workweek but had to drag myself to be at work by 10am, which career path truly spoke to my soul. Best decision I ever made & I wish I would have had the courage to pursue it even earlier. But as they say – A Dream Delayed Is Never A Dream Denied What acting role would you never accept and why ?

The character trait I think is most important is tenacity! You have to be tenacious in this industry – with your acting training, with honing your “brand”, with protecting your energy & finding your tribe. There are a lot of NO’s in this industry!! You have to believe in yourself and your skills talent without fail. And you have to know that what you bring to the industry is something they don’t have – which they don’t because you are the only you. So, you keep pushing and trusting that talent and hard work will be seen. As a wonderful talent manager stated, “Talent will out.”

Automation is the technique, method, or system of operating or controlling a process by highly automatic means, as by electronic devices, reducing human intervention to a minimum. a mechanical device, operated electronically, that functions automatically, without continuous input from an operator. In short, almost everything a human does, high computer systems are able to do the same, such as robots. That’s cool, right

? Yes, it is. Actually they are two sides of the story. A good and bad one. Due to the drastic change of technology some jobs are being created and some jobs will disappear. The health of black economy today will affect their ability to adopt and thrive in the automation era. Machines are taking over routine and physical tasks. What it has to do with African-American, Afro-Germans etc. ? Let’s find out now. According to McKinsey Research automation trends may be widening the racial gap. It is stating that the median white family in the United States holds 10x more wealth than the wealth of median African-American family.

This usually happens, when high education, high paying skills, above average salary, geography and very successful businesses are on the other side of Black people’s reality. African-American potential displacement rate is 23,1 % that’s around 4.6 million. Hispanic with the highest percentage of 25,5%. White workers displacement rate is at 22,4% and the lowest rate goes to Asian-American with 21,7 %. The African-American men will suffer the most (53% job loss) compared to women (47%)

What about Afrogermans ? Well, there are around 2 million Afrogermans living in Germany ( with around 82 million population). But such estimates are unreliable, because there is barely to no Data about Africans in Germany. So the impact that Automation & Artificial Intelligence will have on the black community in â&#x20AC;&#x2DC;Deutschlandâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; , can be described as the invisible shadow that will peek-a-boo the ignorance out of us. All in all, the solution is changed behaviour and mentality. Improving skills like in health, business & legal department. Improving education levels in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) + Arts.

Our cover story is the beautiful young lady Coy Griffin. She is an Afro-Latina from the South Bronx, her mother is Honduran American and her dad is African American.

Growing up with her mother’s Garifuna influence, She’s always been intuned with spirituality and used it as a way to evolve into the purest version of herself. Griffin’s values lie in love, family, trust, and the circulation of knowledge and wisdom.

Each time she is granted a new opportunity, especially in technology, she always shares her experience with the community. Sharing information, especially to people of color, is essential to move the culture forward. Her purpose is to deliver information through clothes, creativity, and style. Thus, it’s only natural to teach the community about technology through the lens of fashion.

What / Who has inspired you to do fashion tech?

Growing up in New York, I was obsessed with the different clothes I would see each day. So at the age of 17, a group of friends and I started a fashion line called â&#x20AC;&#x153;Incredibly Dope,â&#x20AC;? we would walk around Soho, sell our T-shirts, and post our promotion stickers all over the streets and subway. We started to create so much buzz, that we were able to host our first fashion party in Times Square. At that moment, I fell in love with operating a fashion line, and I yearned to learn more about the fashion business.

So I went to college to learn how to run a business and unlocked the world of analytics and technology. Intuitively, I wanted to collide technology and fashion. So I conducted research and discovered designer Iris Van Herpen. Herpen is one of the first luxury designers to merge technology and fashion.

After noticing minimal fashion designers using technology, I created Your Own Creativity (YOC) as a way to showcase fashion technology and how designers can implement cutting-edge innovations to elevate their designs.

I traveled to Ghana to present my very first fashion technology activation at the Black Gala located at Museum for Science and Technology in Accra. This activation was unique because it represented traditional African prints with futuristic elements. The goal of the demonstration was to initiate conversations around using technology as a tool to help fashion become more sustainable and convenient. The concept displayed one dress with alternate African patterns â&#x20AC;&#x201D; each time you tap on the dress, the design changes.

Therefore, the consumer does not have to purchase multiple dresses to wear to different events.

Due to the overwhelming interest, I am traveling to Ghana laterthis year to discuss bringing this activation to the market

How can businesses incorporate technology nowadays?

Most people think new technology is hard to understand, so I only promote intuitive technology with a small learning curve. The easiest way for fashion designers with no technical experience to incorporate technology is by using a 3-D printing pen. My favorite pen is the 3Doodler, and they are relatively cheap and easy to use. There are a bunch of tutorials and free online resources for fashion designers interested in incorporating this tool.
