EDITOR’S NOTE

JUNE GAVE US PLENTY OF REASONS TO CELEBRATE. One of the biggest debates in publishing is whether to share the bad news first or end on a positive note. Fortunately, this month, we don't have to make that choice. June gave us plenty of reasons to celebrate.

Our biggest achievement this month was the successful attainment of our ISO Certification—a milestone led by our SHEQ team and supported by every Business Unit across the Group. This certification is more than a compliance requirement; it is a statement of confidence in the way we do business. It reflects our commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement. As Steve Jobs once said, "If you do the right things on the top line, the bottom line will follow."

While we celebrate this achievement, it also reminds us that excellence is not a destination but a standard we must continue to uphold every day.

As we move through the first quarter of our financial year, we remain focused on building a stronger organisation.

Performance Management and continuous learning through our Learning Management System (LMS) continue to equip our employees with the knowledge and skills needed to achieve both personal and business goals. A learning organisation is one that never stands still, and neither do we.

June also reminded us that perseverance always pays off. We proudly congratulate Nthapa Ramatapa, who completed the Comrades Marathon for the third time, finishing one of the world's toughest ultramarathons in an impressive 9:06:09. His dedication, discipline, and resilience are qualities we can all strive to emulate in our own careers and personal journeys.

Closer to home, Father's Day brought something truly special to the BLACKMAGiC family. Across several Business Units, our fathers and father figures came together to celebrate, connect, and have honest conversations about men's wellbeing and mental health. The "Circles of Trust" reminded us that strength is not found in silence but in supporting one another.

These conversations were so meaningful that we hope to make them a regular part of our culture.

At the time of publishing, South Africans also had every reason to celebrate as Bafana Bafana made history by reaching the knockout stages of the FIFA World Cup for the first time. Moments like these unite us as a nation and remind us of what can be achieved through teamwork, resilience, and belief.

HQ Launches a Circle of Trust for Men A MONTH OF EXCELLENCE: BLACKMAGIC CELEBRATES A SUCCESSFUL ISO AUDIT

In a powerful step towards supporting employee wellbeing, the men at Head Office recently gathered for a Circle of Trust, creating a safe space to openly discuss men's mental health, personal challenges, and life beyond the workplace.

The session encouraged honest conversations, mutual support, and vulnerability, reminding everyone that asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

The positive engagement also sparked discussions around launching an official BLACKMAGiC soccer club, creating another opportunity to build connection, wellness, and team spirit outside the office.

At BLACKMAGiC, building a high-performing organisation starts with looking after the people who make the magic happen.

MORE THAN A MATCH: SOCCER FRIDAY BRINGS HQ TOGETHER Even on a day marked by uncertainty across Gauteng due to anticipated protest action, the BLACKMAGiC spirit remained strong.

Following Management's decision to release employees early to ensure everyone travelled home safely, the HQ team took the opportunity to enjoy a friendly Soccer Friday before calling it a day. Colleagues from different departments came together, sharing laughs, healthy competition, and a sense of unity that extends far beyond the workplace.

Moments like these remind us that BLACKMAGiC is more than a business. It is a family that values connection, teamwork, and looking out for one another, especially during challenging times.

June was a defining month for the BLACKMAGiC Group as teams across every Business Unit came together with a shared purpose: achieving a successful ISO audit. From strengthening processes and ensuring compliance to preparing documentation and demonstrating operational excellence, employees across the Group played a vital role in this achievement.

The successful audit is more than a certification milestone—it is a reflection of the discipline, teamwork, and commitment to continuous improvement that defines the BLACKMAGiC way of doing business. It demonstrates to our clients, partners, and stakeholders that we operate according to internationally recognised standards while remaining committed to quality, safety, and operational excellence.

Lighting More Than Fires: BML Celebrates Fatherhood and Brotherhood This Father's Day, BML Port Elizabeth hosted its very first Father's Day activation, bringing together the men of the business for an afternoon of connection, conversation, and camaraderie.

The team gathered around the braai to celebrate the fathers and father figures who play an important role both at work and at home. More than 100 braai packs were prepared as colleagues shared stories, built stronger relationships, and took time to reflect on topics such as men's mental health, wellness, and the importance of supporting one another.

The event was a reminder that behind every successful operation are people who thrive when they feel connected, valued, and supported.

A BRAND YOU CAN SEE: PE CONTINUES TO TAKE SHAPE The BML Port Elizabeth site continues to receive a visual transformation as new BLACKMAGiC branding is rolled out across the facility.

The refreshed branding creates a more professional environment while reinforcing the Group's identity and the pride employees take in representing the BLACKMAGiC name.

BUILDING TEAM SPIRIT: PE SOCCER TEAM TAKES TO THE FIELD The BML Port Elizabeth soccer team recently laced up their boots and took to the field, proving that teamwork doesn't end when the workday does.

The match created an opportunity for employees to build friendships, encourage one another, and strengthen the team spirit that drives the business every day. Whether on site or on the pitch, success is built through collaboration, discipline, and trust.
