Black Jaguar Foundation – International NGO on Ecosystem Restoration. Position: Partnerships Coordinator Europe Location: Amsterdam When: Immediately (Starting from June 2021) Hours: fulltime 1. About The Black Jaguar Foundation pursues one clear objective: planting native trees on a massive scale to help realize the Araguaia Biodiversity Corridor in order to improve the lives of each of us and of all future generations on our planet. This 2600 km long and 40 km wide corridor, covers 10.4 million hectares of which at least 1 million needs to be restored by planting over 1.7 billion native trees. By realizing this ambitious project, we hope to create a tangible solution for two of our most valuable ecosystems: The Amazon Rainforest and Cerrado Savanna. Together with local landowners (i.e. farmers), we restore degraded land in accordance with the Brazilian Forest Code, which obligates landowners to preserve a certain area of their lands for nature. Together with our local team of forest engineers and environmental specialists, these pristine ecosystems can be restored, using different reforestation methods and a mixture of over 40 different species. Next to this the BJF is building its own nurseries, to grow seedlings that can be planted at the different restoration sites throughout the region. The required seeds are collected in nearby areas with the local community. BJF's role is to act as a catalyst for forest restoration, establishing partnerships with rural landowners and providing all the necessary inputs for environmental restoration, such as technical expertise, tools, financing, among others. 2. Partners The Black Jaguar Foundation operates in a network and has a wide variety of technical partners who ensure we work to the highest possible standards.
