THE BLACK JAGUAR FOUNDATION (BJF)

HELP RESTORE THE BALANCE BETWEEN NATURE AND MANKIND With your support, we are realizing the Araguaia Biodiversity corridor. It will be the longest nature corridor on earth spanning 2600km across Brazil, through the Amazon and Cerrado.

But to do this, we need you.

WHERE ARE WE NOW? We have been planting trees together since 2017 and we are now entering our fourth planting season.

In this planting season we commence the planting of our first million trees, with partners such as Movida Aluguel de Carros and One Tree Planted.

This amazing progress has only be made possible with the help of our dedicated community. Now we‘re scaling up and need you more than ever. It‘s time to make a real impact for our planet, and for our future.

THE NEXT MILESTONE... ...the brand new 2021 tree nursery!

In the coming years, we will be planting many more trees. Planting seedlings is one of the main methods we use in our restoration and so to grow all these new native trees we are planning to build a state-of-the-art BJF nursery.

This will be the third BJF nursery, with a capacity over 10 times that of our second nursery, producing 500,000 seedlings at a time.

Together, we can reach this next milestone, preparing us to scale up our reforestation activities in 2021.

THE 2021 TREE NURSERY This nursery will become a hub for restoring life along the Araguaia Corridor, in the heart of Brazil.

In addition to using the best restoration technologies, this nursery will run on solar energy and collect rainwater for irrigation so we can be as sustainable as possible.

THE SPECIFICATIONS CAPACITY: > 500,000 seedlings / per year

> Increased from 40,000 in our first and second nurseries combined GREENHOUSE:

> 90 x 24 metre steel structure > 24 seedling benches > Micro sprinkler irrigation system > Seedlings to be grown in re-usable tubetes to promote root growth, economise transportation and prevent the use of single-use plastics. They stay in this tubete until they are planted.

OUTDOOR NURSERY: > Open sun area > 92 x 96 meter area > Regular sprinkler irrigation system

In partnership with local seed collecting networks we source the perfect mix of native seeds that will enable us to restore the ecosystem, as much as possible, to its original state.

THE BRAND NEW 2021 NURSERY

WHERE YOU COME IN YOU CAN HAVE A POWERFUL IMPACT ON OUR FUTURE Together, we will be able to create new local opportunities, both in terms of job production and environmental education. In addition to the construction of the nursery, 6 full-time nursery carers will be hired and environmental workshops will be held in the classroom facility.

Brazil is the most biodiverse country in the world. Biodiversity is crucial for our survival. By helping us to grow millions of new native trees, you are directly helping to restore and preserve this biodiversity.

The 2021 nursery will produce all the seedling we need for the coming years. Helping to reduce our costs per seedling and allow us to better control the quality of our seedlings. Quality seedlings are at the core of bringing back healthy forests.
