Operationalizing The New Bjf Nursery Growing Our Team And Operations

The Araguaia Seed Network started as a means of providing our project with quality native seeds and is already making a real difference for communities living in the Araguaia region! Last year, our field team started training sessions for communities living in settlements in the Araguaia region and have already completed the first cycle of training modules.

We are growing! In 2022, our team consisted of 122 motivated individuals employed by the BJF full time and 35 benefiting from our project via the Araguaia Seed Network who collect and sell seeds to BJF. Together, we are producing seedlings, constructing firebreaks, carrying our maintenance, planting seedlings, and so much more.

The new BJF Nursery became fully operational and is already producing seedlings at high capacity! With over 500,000 seedlings produced per cycle, this is a huge milestone. The nursery also includes space for workshops, and is already becoming a central hub for ecological restoration in the region.
